Risk factors of paclitaxel-induced peripheral neuropathy in patients with breast cancer: a prospective cohort study.

Objective: Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is a common and severe adverse reaction in taxane-based chemotherapy. This study aimed to analyze the risk factors of peripheral neuropathy in patients with breast cancer receiving paclitaxel chemotherapy to provide a reference for the early prevention of CIPN.

Methods: We included 350 patients with breast cancer who received chemotherapy for the first time at the Tangshan People's Hospital between August 2022 and June 2023 and were followed for at least 3 months after the end of chemotherapy.

Role cognition of assigned nurses supporting Hubei Province in the fight against COVID-19 in China: a hermeneutic phenomenological study.

Aims: During the COVID-19 epidemic, nurses played a crucial role in clinical treatment. As a special group, front-line nurses, especially those assigned to support Hubei Province in the fight against COVID-19 between February and April 2020, brought diverse experiences from different provinces in China in taking care of COVID-19 patients and role cognition. Therefore, our purpose is to explore the real coping experience and role cognition of front-line nurses during the novel coronavirus outbreak to provide relevant experience references for society and managers in the face of such major public health emergencies in the future.

Network structure of complex interactions of premenstrual syndrome and influencing factors in young adult women.

Background: In the transition phase from adolescence to adulthood, premenstrual syndrome (PMS) occurs more commonly, with a variety of symptoms. The occurrence of PMS may be the result of a combination of demographic, physiological, psychological and sociological factors. This study aimed to identify the central symptoms of PMS, and explored the complex influencing factors especially the one-to-one inter-relationships factors with specific symptoms.

Effects of Kiwifruit Dietary Fibers on Pasting Properties and In Vitro Starch Digestibility of Wheat Starch.

In this study, the roles of kiwifruit soluble/insoluble dietary fiber (SDF/IDF, respectively) in the pasting characteristics and in vitro digestibility of wheat starch were explored. According to RVA and rheological tests, the IDF enhanced the wheat starch viscosity, decreased the gelatinization degree of the starch granules, and exacerbated starch retrogradation. The addition of SDF in high quantities could reduce the starch gelatinization level, lower the system viscosity, and exacerbate starch retrogradation.

Association between body mass index and burnout among nurses in China: a cross-sectional study.

Objectives: Body mass index (BMI) can affect an individual's health. The night shift is a characteristic of the nursing profession, which is associated with an abnormal BMI. However, few studies have investigated the association between BMI and burnout in Chinese nurses.

Birth outcomes in mothers with hypertensive disorders and polycystic ovary syndrome: a population-based cohort study.

Study Question: Is polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) associated with higher risks of extreme birth size and/or preterm birth in mothers with different hypertension types?

Summary Answer: PCOS was associated with additional risks of preterm birth in mothers with chronic hypertension and in singleton pregnancies of mothers with pre-eclampsia, and with higher risks of offspring born large for gestational age (LGA) in mothers with gestational hypertension.

What Is Known Already: Women with PCOS are more likely to develop gestational hypertension, pre-eclampsia, and chronic hypertension. Although adverse birth outcomes have been frequently reported in mothers with PCOS, such associations in the setting of a hypertensive disorder remain unknown.

Cortical thickness reveals sex differences in verbal and visuospatial memory.

Although previous studies have reported the sex differences in behavior/cognition and the brain, the sex difference in the relationship between memory abilities and the underlying neural basis in the aging process remains unclear. In this study, we used a machine learning model to estimate the association between cortical thickness and verbal/visuospatial memory in females and males and then explored the sex difference of these associations based on a community-elderly cohort (n = 1153, age ranged from 50.42 to 86.

Tai Chi counteracts age-related somatosensation and postural control declines among older adults.

Objective: To investigate the effect of a 16-week Tai Chi practice on strength, tactile sensation, kinesthesia, and static postural control among older adults of different age groups.

Methods: This is a quasi-experimental study. Thirteen participants aged 60-69 years (60-69yr), 11 aged 70-79 years (70-79yr), and 13 aged 80-89 years (80-89yr) completed 16 weeks of 24-form Tai Chi practice.

Development and psychometric testing of physiopsychological disorders scale for medical rescuers fighting epidemics in China.

Objective: Develop and psychometrically test the physiopsychological disorders scale for medical rescuers fighting epidemics (PDS-MRFE).

Method: A three-phase approach was used to develop and test the physiopsychological disorders scale: (1) creating the item pool, (2) preliminarily evaluating items, and (3) refining the scale and estimating the psychometric properties. The items of the instrument were generated based on a comprehensive literature review and a qualitative study conducted with 31 medical rescuers (18 nurses and 13 doctors) fighting epidemics.

[Participants and Methods] In this study, 12 male baseball players participated. During the throwing, which was filmed using a high-speed video camera, the trunk and pelvic lateral tilt angles toward the nonthrowing side were measured at the MER and BR.
