Minimally invasive approach for adrenal lesions: Systematic review of laparoscopic versus retroperitoneoscopic adrenalectomy and assessment of risk factors for complications.

In the last decades, minimally invasive transperitoneal laparoscopic adrenalectomy has become the standard of care for surgical resection of the adrenal gland tumors. Recently, however, adrenalectomy by a mininvasive retroperitoneal approach has reached increasingly popularity as alternative technique. Short hospitalization, lower postoperative pain and decrease of complications and a better cosmetic resolution are the main advantages of these innovative techniques.

Pancreatoduodenectomy is the gold standard operation for malignant and benign diseases of the pancreas and periampullary region. Even if improvements in intensive care management and surgical technique have dramatically reduced postoperative mortality after pancreatic surgery, morbidity remains high (30-50%), also in specialized pancreatic units. In order to reduce postoperative complications, particularly pancreatic fistula, different surgical techniques and their modifications have been proposed.
