Objective: Understanding healthcare-seeking propensity is crucial for optimizing healthcare utilization, especially for patients with chronic conditions like hypertension or diabetes, given their substantial burden on healthcare systems globally. This study aims to evaluate hypertensive or diabetic patients' healthcare-seeking propensity based on the severity of symptoms, categorizing symptoms as either major or minor. It also explores factors influencing healthcare-seeking propensity and examines whether healthcare-seeking propensity affects healthcare utilization and preventable hospitalizations.

We collected and double-annotated 33,017 discharge summaries from 151 medical institutions on a municipal regional health information platform, developed a BERT-based Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory Model (BiLSTM) and Conditional Random Field (CRF) model, and tested the performance of privacy identification on the dataset. To explore the performance of different substructures of the neural network, we created five additional baseline models and evaluated the impact of different models on performance.

Background/objectives: As fitness apps increasingly incorporate social interaction features, users may find themselves overwhelmed by an excess of received support, struggling to effectively manage it. Highlighting a novel recipient-centric perspective, we aim to investigate the impact of social support overload on users' life burnout and discontinuance within fitness apps.
Methods: Utilizing Social Support Theory and Basic Psychological Needs Theory, we develop a model to examine how emotional, network, and informational support overload affect life burnout and discontinuance through the frustration of basic psychological needs: autonomy, competence, and relatedness.

Malnutrition substantially contributes to adverse clinical outcomes. However, no national survey has been conducted to characterize its epidemiology in hospital settings in China. We conducted the China Nutrition Fundamental Data 2020 project among a multistage stratified cluster sample of adult inpatients from 291 study sites across 30 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities (except for Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan Province, and the Xizang Autonomous Region, please see MATERIALS AND METHODS for details of the causes) of China to generate reliable data on the prevalence of malnutrition and explore the associated risk factors.

Background: Uncertain times require healthcare entities to demonstrate strong leadership, develop digitalisation, and respond to change in a creative and flexible manner. Based on emerging new institutional theory, we developed and tested a model of how digital transformational leadership (DTL) affects digital intensity (DI) among healthcare entities through the mediating role of organisational agility (OA). In this article, we also examine the moderating role of the country in the studied relationship.

Background: Fragmentation of healthcare services has been a central issue, contributing to escalating medical expenditures and service provision, thereby exacerbating the waste of limited medical resources. In response, China has introduced the Sanming Mode, a medical service integration model designed to address these challenges. This study evaluates the model's impact on medical expenditures, service provision, and resource allocation.

Background: Previous studies have focused predominantly on socioeconomic disparities in adolescent obesity, but the sources of inequality may be more extensive.
Objectives: We aim to quantify and decompose the inequality of opportunity (IOp) in adolescent obesity caused by circumstances and examine the indirect effects of these circumstances on obesity through key effort factors.
Methods: Based on the IOp framework and previous evidence, we categorised age, gender, socioeconomic status, and family-school environments of adolescents (N = 9117) as circumstances and obesity-related behaviours as efforts.

Purpose: To evaluate the long-term impacts of the feedback intervention on controlling inappropriate use of antimicrobial prescriptions in primary care institutions in China, as a continuation of the previous feedback intervention trial.
Methods: After the intervention ended, we conducted a 12-month follow-up study. The prescription data were collected from the baseline until the end of the follow-up period.

Objective: Acute kidney injury (AKI) poses a lethal risk in intensive care unit (ICU) patients, where early detection is challenging. This study was to establish a prediction model for AKI 24 hours in advance for ICU patients and to help clinicians monitor patients at an early stage by key features.
Methods: In this study, the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care (MIMIC) databases were used to construct a dataset of critically ill patients.

Background: The severe health challenge and financial burden of drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB) continues to be an impediment in China and worldwide. This study aimed to explore the impact of Diagnosis-related group (DRG) payment on medical expenditure and treatment efficiency among DR-TB patients.
Methods: This retrospective cohort study included all DR-TB patients from the digitized Hospital Information System (HIS) of Wuhan Pulmonary Hospital and the TB Information Management System (TBIMS) with completed full course of National Tuberculosis Program (NTP) standard treatment in Wuhan from January 2016 to December 2022, excluding patients whose treatment spanned both before and after the DRG timepoint.
Introduction: This study protocol specifies the primary research line and theoretical framework of the 2023 Survey of the Psychology and Behavior of the Chinese Population. It aims to establish a consistent database of Chinese residents' psychological and behavioral surveys through multi-center and large-sample cross-sectional surveys to provide robust data support for developing research in related fields. It will track the public's physical and psychological health more comprehensively and systematically.

Background: The global rise in elderly populations and chronic disease patients has increased the demand for hospital-at-home (HaH) services, which could help reduce hospitalization costs.
Objective: To assess the impact of two policies on the implementation of HaH services in Shanghai.
Methods: A two-stage interrupted time series (ITS) analysis with a control group was conducted to examine changes in three areas-institutional capacity, home-based medical services, and HaH beds-using 11 indicators from 2007 to -2022 across all community health service centres and hospitals providing HaH services.

Purpose: In China, secondary and tertiary hospital-based dialysis facilities had been the most prominent provider of hemodialysis treatment. Developing community hemodialysis centers was the key to constructing hierarchical hemodialysis system. Thus, the aim of this study was to explore end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) patients' preferences for hemodialysis services and attract patients with stable condition to choose community hemodialysis services.

Background: Addressing antibiotic resistance is important for reducing parents' self-medication of antibiotics for children's upper respiratory tract infections (URTIs). However, the decision-making process for parents who irrationally use such antibiotics is still unclear. In this study, we aimed to explore the reasons why parents self-medicate antibiotics for children's URTIs based on a discrete choice experiment.

Objectives: Post-discharge follow-up stands as a critical component of post-diagnosis management, and the constraints of healthcare resources impede comprehensive manual follow-up. However, patients are less cooperative with AI follow-up calls or may even hang up once AI voice robots are perceived. To improve the effectiveness of follow-up, alternative measures should be taken when patients perceive AI voice robots.

Objective: To understand the multiple health service needs of rural residents in China and explore the co-occurrence patterns of these needs throughout the entire life course, providing a basis for the formulation and optimization of health service packaging policies.
Methods: This study utilized a stratified random sampling method, resulting in a final sample size of 15,125 individuals. The R statistical software was employed to apply the Apriori algorithm to mine the co-occurrence relationships among multiple health service needs across the life course and to explore the packaging model of these services.
