The present study evaluated whether cognitive dispersion on neuropsychological testing improved prediction of objectively assessed daily functioning using unobtrusive monitoring technologies. Hierarchical linear regression was used to evaluate whether cognitive dispersion added incremental information beyond mean neuropsychological performance in the prediction of objectively assessed IADLs (i.

The Nexus vision of simultaneously transforming health professions education and healthcare delivery to achieve Triple (now Quadruple) Aim outcomes was first articulated in the 2012 proposal and funding of the National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education (National Center). Over the past decade, the National Center has worked with over 70 sites implementing large scale and practice-based interprofessional practice and education (IPE) programs. Because what is needed to implement the Nexus to achieve Quadruple Aim outcomes was not well understood in 2012, the National Center took a social innovations and developmental evaluation approach.

Skull base osteomyelitis (SBO) mimics the presentation of various conditions, including solid tumors. Computed tomography-guided core biopsy for culture informs antibiotic selection, and with intravenous corticosteroids, may minimize chronic neurologic dysfunction. Although SBO predominantly affects individuals who are diabetic or immunocompromised, it is important to be able to recognize SBO presenting in an otherwise healthy individual.

Lassa fever (LF) is a neglected tropical disease that is caused by Lassa virus (LASV), a human hemorrhagic fever-causing mammarenavirus. A notable sequela of LF is sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) that can develop in about 33% of the patients. Animal models of LF-associated SNHL have been limited in size and scope because LASV is a biosafety level 4 (BSL4) pathogen that requires its handling in a high biocontainment laboratory.

The sensitivities of 21 strains of herpes simplex virus (HSV), 13 type 1 strains and 8 type 2 strains, to 5-iodo-2'-deoxyuridine (IUdR) and 9-beta-d-arabinofuranosyladenine (ara-A) were evaluated by the plaque-suppression test in chick embryo fibroblast (CEF), WI-38, and HeLa cell cultures. In CEF, type 1 strains were considerably more sensitive to the inhibitors than were the type 2 strains. In WI-38, the type 1 strains were more sensitive than the type 2 strains to IUdR; however, the two serotypes were equally sensitive to ara-A.
