Sonodynamic therapy (SDT) has been explored for cancer therapy, especially for deep tumors due to its low tissue penetration restriction. The therapeutic efficacy of SDT is limited due to the complicated tumor microenvironment. Three-membered rings, such as epoxides, aziridines, oxaziridines, cyclopropenes, vinyloxaziridines, and azirines, are recognized as crucial pharmacophores and building blocks in organic chemistry and drug discovery. Despite the significant advances in the synthesis of these rings through photo/electrochemical methods over the past decade, there has currently been no focused discussion and updated overviews on this topic. Therefore, we presented this review article on the efficient synthesis of three-membered rings using photo- and electrochemical strategies, covering the literature since 2015.

We reviewed recent advancements in utilizing nanotechnology for modulating gut microbiota, discussing strategies and the mechanisms underlying their design. For future nanomedicine design, we propose a 5I principle for individualized nanomedicine in CRC management.

Purpose: To investigate the effect of Sophora japonica extract on alveolar bone mass in ovariectomized osteoporosis mice.
Methods: Six-week-old female non-pregnant wild-type C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into sham operation group, ovariectomy(OVX) group and OVX+Sophora japonica extract group. Ovaries of the mice in the OVX group and the OVX+Sophora japonica extract group were removed, and the mice in the OVX+Sophora japonica extract group were treated by Sophora japonica extract at a dose of 150 mg/kg, three times a week for 4 weeks; while mice of the other two groups were given an equal volume of normal saline at the same time.

Abnormal immune and inflammatory responses are considered to contribute to schizophrenia (SZ). The neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is an inexpensive and reproducible marker of systemic inflammatory responses. Methods: This study retrospectively analyzed data from 174 patients with cerebral infarction admitted to The Rehabilitation Department of Shanghai Fifth Rehabilitation Hospital and Shanghai First People's Hospital from June 2022 to June 2023. Based on the results of lower limb venous color Doppler ultrasound examinations, patients were divided into two groups: the LDVT group (35 cases) and the non-LDVT group (139 cases).

Purpose: To prepare single-atom iron nanocatalysts(SAF NCs) and explore its efficacy on oral squamous cell carcinoma Cal 27 cells in vitro, and provide a new strategy for the treatment of oral squamous cell carcinoma.
Methods: SAF NCs were prepared with combination of isolation and pyrolysis, the microscopic characterization was observed by transmission electron microscopy, the morphology and chemical composition were analysed by X-ray diffractograms and elemental distribution energy spectroscopy. The catalytic properties were detected by TMB assay and electron spin resonance test, and finally the changes in the activity of Cal27 cells were observed by CCK-8, flow cytometry and confocal microscopy for in vitro treatment of oral squamous carcinoma, to investigate the therapeutic effect against Cal27 cells.

With the increasing attention paid to macrocyclic scaffolds in peptide drug development, genetically encoded peptide macrocycle libraries have become invaluable sources for the discovery of high-affinity peptide ligands targeting disease-associated proteins. The traditional phage display technique of constructing disulfide-tethered macrocycles by cysteine oxidation has the inherent drawback of reduction instability of the disulfide bond. Chemical macrocyclization solves the problem of disulfide bond instability, but the involved highly electrophilic reagents are usually toxic to phages and may bring undesirable side reactions.
