Background and objective Anemia is a common hematological disorder during pregnancy, with iron deficiency (ID) being the most prevalent cause globally. It severely affects maternal and fetal health. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of anemia and its association with iron and vitamin B12 deficiency during pregnancy.

Considering that various circRNAs have a strong potential as molecular biomarkers, we aimed to investigate the expression of ciRS-7 in plasma cell disorders, assess its prognostic importance in MM, and compare these findings with those of individuals with smoldering MM (SMM) and monoclonal gammopathy of unknown significance (MGUS).

Charcot neuro-osteoarthropathy (CNO) is a rare but devastating complication of diabetes associated with high rates of morbidity; yet, many nonfoot specialists are unaware of it, resulting in missed and delayed diagnosis. Clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) have proven useful in improving quality of care and standardizing practice in diabetes and diabetic foot care. However, little is known about the consistency in recommendations for identification and management of active CNO.

As 6th year medical students often face a wide range of clinical challenges and may be prone to negative expectations or beliefs affecting their pre-clinical and clinical success, we want to investigate how they are affected by the Nocebo Effect.
Objective: To investigate whether a nocebo effect can be induced when exposing final-year students to the clinical context of their training.

In this study, we designed and developed systems composed of poly(ethylene-oxide)--poly(ε-caprolactone) block copolymers of different molecular weights and compositions, non-ionic surfactant, and cyclodextrins. The innovation of this study lies in the combination of these diverse biomaterials to create biomimetic and bioinspired drug delivery supramolecular structures. The systems were formed by the thin-film hydration method.

Waldenström macroglobulinemia (WM) is characterized by the expansion of clonal lymphoplasmacytic cells; the MYD88L265P somatic mutation is found in >90% of patients, but malignant B cells may still display intra-clonal heterogeneity. To assess clonal heterogeneity in WM, we generated and performed single-cell RNA sequencing of CD19 sorted cells from five patients with and two patients with genotype as well as two healthy donors. We identified distinct transcriptional patterns in the clonal subpopulations not only between the two genetically distinct WM subgroups but also among patients, which affected the B cell composition in the different subgroups.

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are associated with the pathobiology of multiple myeloma (MM). Recent findings regarding circCCT3 support its involvement in the development and progression of MM, through microRNA sponging. Thus, we aimed to examine the expression of circCCT3 in smoldering and symptomatic MM and to assess its clinical importance.

Introduction: Istaroxime was shown, in a small study, to increase systolic blood pressure (SBP) in patients with pre-cardiogenic shock (CS) due to acute heart failure (AHF).
Objectives: In the current analysis, we describe the effects of 2 doses of istaroxime 1.0 (Ista-1) and 1.

Purpose: Tumor heterogeneity may be responsible for poor response to treatment and adverse prognosis in women with HGOEC. The purpose of this study is to propose an automated classification system that allows medical experts to automatically identify intratumoral areas of different cellularity indicative of tumor heterogeneity.
Methods: Twenty-two patients underwent dedicated pelvic MRI, and a database of 11,095 images was created.
Clinical trials have demonstrated the efficacy and safety of carfilzomib in patients with relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM); however, prospective real-world data are limited. This real-world, prospective, observational study evaluated carfilzomib use, effectiveness and safety in adults with RRMM. Data are presented for a subset of patients ( = 383) who received carfilzomib in combination with lenalidomide and dexamethasone (KRd).

Background: Aerobic exercise, either continuous or high intensity interval training (HIIT), induces important benefits in chronic heart failure (CHF) patients. Resistance training has been also shown to be beneficial in CHF. However, data regarding combined aerobic exercise and muscle strength training is still limited.

Aims: We examined the effects of istaroxime in patients hospitalized for acute heart failure (AHF) related Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) stage B pre-cardiogenic shock (CS).
Methods And Results: Sixty patients with AHF without acute myocardial infarction with pre-CS, defined as systolic blood pressure (SBP) <90 mmHg without hypoperfusion, venous lactate ≥2 mmol/L and/or mechanical or inotropic support, were randomized to istaroxime 1.0-1.
High consumption of red meat, in particular of its processed products, has been linked to the development of various chronic diseases, and the need to reduce consumption levels of these products has been identified as a public health priority in Europe. Among the potential alternatives, pulses have gained a prominent position in recent years. Stemming from the broader context of the substitution of red meat in the diet with alternative plant-based protein sources, this work programme was developed to address the need of improving the current understanding on the public health impact of potential substitutes.

Retroperitoneal ganglioneuroma (RGN) is a rare benign tumor that arises from the retroperitoneal sympathetic ganglia composed of mature Schwann cells, ganglion cells and nerve fibers. These tumors can occur anywhere along the paravertebral sympathetic plexus and occasionally from adrenal medulla. Although they grow in excessive size, they may cause compression to adjacent organ or structures thus giving rise to symptoms.

Treatment for HF with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) improves survival but is often underused. Economic factors might have an important effect on the use of medicines.

Methods And Results: We analysed the prevalence of precipitants and their association with outcomes in 18 553 patients hospitalized for AHF in REPORT-HF (prospective international REgistry to assess medical Practice with lOngitudinal obseRvation for Treatment of Heart Failure) according to left ventricular ejection fraction subtype (reduced [HFrEF] and preserved ejection fraction [HFpEF]) and presentation (new-onset vs. decompensated chronic heart failure [DCHF]).
Hunger-reducing effects and beneficial changes in gastrointestinal hormones have been reported, in overweight/obese individuals consuming dairy while yogurt takes pride of place due to its unique structure and composition. Although the contribution of yogurt to metabolic regulation has received growing attention, the research studies which examine its role on appetite are limited, especially regarding type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of non-fat, conventional yogurt consumption on appetite hormone responses of T2DM patients following a non-energy-restricted diet.

Transdermal administration has gained much attention due to the remarkable advantages such as patient compliance, drug escape from first-pass elimination, favorable pharmacokinetic profile and prolonged release properties. However, the major limitation of these systems is the limited skin penetration of the stratum corneum, the skin's most important barrier, which protects the body from the insertion of substances from the environment. Transdermal drug delivery systems are aiming to the disruption of the stratum corneum in order for the active pharmaceutical ingredients to enter successfully the circulation.

Methods: Sixty-three Wistar rats were separated into three groups: sham; control (45 min IRI); and silibinin (200 μL silibinin administration after 45 min of ischemia and before reperfusion). Immunohistochemistry and real-time quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) were used to evaluate the expression levels of MMP2, MMP3, MMP9, and TIMP2 on kidney and lung.

Introduction: We investigated the frequency, neuropathology, and phenotypic characteristics of spastic paraplegia (SP) that precedes dementia in presenilin 1 () related familial Alzheimer's disease (AD).
Methods: We performed whole exome sequencing (WES) in 60 probands with hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP) phenotype that was negative for variants in known HSP-related genes. Where mutation was identified, brain biopsy was performed.
