Background: Little information is available from prospective clinical trials on the influences of surgical approaches on postoperative quality of life (QOL). We aimed to prospectively compare chronological changes in postoperative body weight and QOL between laparoscopic and open total gastrectomy for stage I gastric cancer (GC).
Methods: We conducted a multi-institutional prospective study (CCOG1504) of patients who undergo laparoscopic or open total gastrectomy.

Background: There have been few studies of countermeasures against postoperative cholangitis, a serious complication after pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) that impairs quality of life.
Objective: To evaluate our recently developed, novel method of choledochojejunostomy with a larger anastomotic diameter, the "T-shaped anastomosis."
Methods: The study included 261 cases of PD.
We developed a low-intensity 10-min resistance exercise program for nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). We report a case of NAFLD with elevated hepatic fibrosis indices, which were improved by a 60-week daily exercise program. A 71-year-old female patient with NAFLD whose hepatic fibrosis stage corresponded to F2 was referred to our hospital.

Background: In pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), only radical surgery improves long-term survival. We focused on surgical outcome after induction gemcitabine along with nab-paclitaxel (GnP) and subsequent chemoradiotherapy (CRT) with S-1 administration for unresectable locally advanced (UR-LA) PDAC.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 144 patients with UR-LA PDAC between 2014 and 2020.
High-dose chemotherapy and autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) are too toxic for elderly patients with relapsed or refractory diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). Therefore, effective and tolerable regimens for elderly patients are urgently needed. The present phase II study assessed the efficacy and safety of dose-adjusted therapy with gemcitabine, dexamethasone, cisplatin, and rituximab (GDP-R) in this population.
