Introduction: A unique phenomenon of immune therapy is pseudoprogression; however, a definite mechanism and predictive factors remain unclear. We herein report a case of pseudoprogression with avelumab maintenance therapy.
Case Presentation: A 67-year-old male diagnosed with muscle-invasive bladder cancer with lung metastasis was treated with four cycles of gemcitabine and cisplatin chemotherapy immediately after cystectomy and ileal conduit urinary diversion.

A young-male underwent radiofrequency (RF) ablation of ventricular premature contractions (VPCs) of over 30,000/day and the morphology exhibited left bundle branch block and a superior axis, which indicated the VPCs originated from the inferior portion of the right ventricle (RV). While the PENTARAY catheter was placed under the tricuspid valve (TV), the earliest potential, which preceded the QRS onset by 34 ms, was recorded. Pace mapping there presented a very similar QRS morphology to the target VPC.

Versican is a large chondroitin sulfate/dermatan sulfate proteoglycan that plays a key role in the formation of the provisional matrix. Here, we generated dextran sulfate sodium-induced colitis in knockin-mice, R/R, expressing ADAMTS-resistant versican, and investigated the impact of accumulating versican and its turnover in the inflammatory colon mucosa. Histologically, R/R colon showed decreased levels of tissue destruction and an increased number of myofibroblasts and macrophages.

Mucopolysaccharidosis type II (MPS II; Hunter syndrome) is an X-linked recessive lysosomal storage disease caused by a mutation in the gene and characterized by systemic accumulations of glycosaminoglycans. Its somatic symptoms can be relieved by enzyme replacement therapy (ERT) with idursulfase, but because the enzyme cannot cross the blood-brain-barrier (BBB), it does not address the progressive neurodegeneration and subsequent central nervous system (CNS) manifestations seen in patients with neuropathic MPS-II. However, pabinafusp alfa, a human iduronate-2-sulfatase (IDS) fused with a BBB-crossing anti-transferrin receptor antibody, has been shown to be efficacious against both the somatic and CNS symptoms of MPS II.

However, the prognostic significance of ECV measurements based on computed tomography (CT) is unclear. This study evaluated the association between ECV measured with dual-energy CT and clinical outcomes in patients with aortic stenosis who underwent transcatheter or surgical AVR.

Based on the French Federation Nationale des Centers de Lutte Contre le Cancer (FNCLCC) grading system, this study assesses the accuracy of conventional and modified core biopsy (CB) systems in predicting the final grade (low vs high) assigned to the resected specimen. Substituting Ki-67 immunoexpression for mitotic count, and radiological for histological assessment of necrosis, we used two modified FNCLCC CB grading systems: (1) Ki-67 immunoexpression alone, and (2) Ki-67 plus radiological assessment of necrosis. We graded 199 soft tissue sarcomas (STS) from nine centers, and compared the results for the conventional (obtained from local histopathology reports) and modified CB systems with the final FNCLCC grading of the corresponding resected specimens.

Fistula formation after free jejunal transplantation is relatively common; however, treating esophago-jejunal anastomosis fistulas is difficult. Herein, the authors report a case of esophago-jejunal anastomosis fistula adjacent to the permanent tracheostoma after free jejunal transplantation that was closed using negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT). A 70-year-old man underwent total pharyngo-laryngo-cervical esophagectomy and free jejunal transplantation for hypopharyngeal cancer.

Introduction: Vascularized fibular grafts (VFG) in the cervicothoracic spine have been used for patients with progressive neurofibromatosis (NF) type-1-related kyphosis, but the long-term outcomes of VFG with NF-1 are not well described. We describe the long-term follow-up of two cases of cervical kyphosis related to NF-1 treated with VFG in the cervical spine.
Case Report: Case 1 was that of a 33-year-old man with a large neurofibroma at the back of his neck and an arteriovenous malformation at C2-7.

Background: The significance of the dimensional factors (tumor diameter, area and volume) as the prognostic factor has not been precisely evaluated in pT1 gastric cancer.
Objectives: This study aimed to identify the clinical impact and to confirm the clinical feasibility of the dimensional factors as prognostic factors in pT1 gastric cancer.
Methods: We analyzed prognostic factors for disease-specific survival (DSS), overall survival (OS) using clinicopathological factors by univariate and multivariate analyses and the pattern of recurrence in 2011 pT1 gastric cancer (mucosal and submucosal cancers) undergoing R0 gastrectomy.

Background: Recent improvements in devices and medications may diminish the risk of adverse events following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in women. However, complex calcified coronary lesions are increasingly being encountered in clinical practice, which remain challenging for contemporary PCI. Rotational atherectomy (RA) of severely calcified lesions is an option that facilitates the technical success of PCI.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to clarify the interaction among cognitive and physical functions associated with toilet independence in stroke patients.
Materials And Methods: We retrospectively examined 125 stroke patients. We performed decision tree analysis to detect the interaction associated with toilet independent using assessment of motor function on the affected side, muscle strength on unaffected side, trunk function, neglect, motivation, and cognitive function.

Postcardiotomy cardiogenic shock (PCCS) is a rare clinical entity associated with substantial morbidity and mortality. It is characterized by heart failure that results in an inability to be weaned from cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). The aim of this study was to analyze the outcomes of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) in patients with PCCS and to identify predictors of in-hospital mortality and failure to be weaned from ECMO.

Background: The aim of this study was to determine the frequency and nature of pediatric blunt chest-abdominal injuries (BCAIs) and to summarize their management, ranging from non-operative management (NOM), with or without angioembolization (AE), to surgical treatment.
Methods: This retrospective study included patients admitted to our hospital for BCAIs from January 1996 to December 2017. The age, injury pattern, organs of injury, outcome, and treatment were summarized.

Background: Percutaneous epicardial ventricular tachycardia (VT) ablation has been increasingly performed. Although the inferior approach has been the common method, the feasibility of the anterior approach has subsequently been reported.

Background: Riluzole is the only approved oral drug for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). We performed a retrospective study including ALS patients treated with riluzole, focusing on adverse events.
Methods: Patients diagnosed with ALS according to the revised El Escorial criteria (World Federation of Neurology) in our center and who were administered 50 mg oral riluzole twice daily between January 2011 and September 2017 and followed up for at least 6 months from treatment initiation or until death were included.
Innate immunity plays a major role in xenograft rejection. However, the majority of immunosuppressants focus on inhibiting acquired immunity and not innate immunity. Therefore, a novel immunosuppressant suitable for use in conjunction with xenografts continues to be needed.

In this study, we established and characterized a novel cell line, AMU-ML2, from a patient with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), displaying homogeneously staining regions at the 8q24 locus.

Overexpression of TXNIP causes cell cycle arrest at the G1/S checkpoint in the hepatocellular carcinoma cell line HuH-7. TXNIP contains putative phosphorylation sites, but the effects of its phosphorylation have not been fully characterized.

Performing repetitive tasks is a primary risk factor for the development of WMSD. Many workers in highly repetitive jobs exhibit muscle pain and decline in handgrip strength, yet the mechanisms underlying these dysfunctions are poorly understood.
