Sorafenib promotes Treg cell differentiation to compromise its efficacy via VEGFR/AKT/Foxo1 signaling in hepatocellular carcinoma.

Cell Mol Gastroenterol Hepatol

December 2024

Department of Medical Oncology, Cancer Center of Zhejiang University, Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, Medical School of Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, Zhejiang 310020, China.

Unlabelled: Our study revealed that sorafenib (Sora) induced the formation of an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) by promoting the differentiation of regulatory T (Treg) cells through VEGFR/AKT/Foxo1 signaling, leading to compromised Sora efficacy. Importantly, combination treatment with an anti-CD25 antibody or the Foxo1 inhibitor AS1842856 inhibited Treg cell differentiation and increased the therapeutic efficacy of Sora in HCC.

Background & Aims: Sora is the first-line drug for advanced HCC.

Background: No prior study has examined the mutual association of long-term outdoor ozone (O) concentration and physical activity (PA) with emotional and behavioral problems (EBPs) in children and adolescents. This study aims to investigate the association between long-term outdoor O concentration and the risk of EBPs in children and adolescents and further explore whether increased PA levels modify this association.

Methods: Data were obtained from the 2020 wave follow-up examination of an ongoing prospective cohort study (COHERENCE project) in Guangzhou, China.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is characterized by symptoms such as abnormal lubrication function of synovial fluid and heightened friction on the cartilage surface in its early stages, prior to evident cartilage damage. Current early intervention strategies employing lubricated hydrogels to shield cartilage from friction often overlook the significance of hydrogel-cartilage adhesion and enhancement of the cartilage extracellular matrix (ECM). Herein, we constructed a hydrogel based on dihydrazide-modified hyaluronic acid (HA) (AHA) and catechol-conjugated aldehyde-modified HA (CHA), which not only adheres to the cartilage surface as an effective lubricant but also improves the extracellular environment of chondrocytes in OA.

Adv Biol (Weinh)

December 2024

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Center for Reproductive Medicine, the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of School of Medicine, and International School of Medicine, International Institutes of Medicine, Zhejiang University, Yiwu, 322000, China.

Intrauterine adhesion (IUA) can negatively impact on pregnancy outcomes, leading to reduced pregnancy rates, secondary infertility, and an increased risk of pregnancy complications. Studies have shown that the application of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in IUA patients is effective. However, the clinical readhesive rate of IUA after treatment is still high, especially in severe cases.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess the impact of comprehensive nursing and the ISBAR handover method on patients suffering from placental abruption.
  • The research involved two groups of patients; one receiving traditional care and handover processes, while the other group received enhanced nursing care combined with ISBAR from May 2022 to June 2023.
  • Results indicated that the observation group had better delivery outcomes, lower complication rates, improved nurse handover quality, and higher patient satisfaction compared to the control group.

Background: Recent advances in deep learning have sparked new research interests in dynamic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) reconstruction. However, existing deep learning-based approaches suffer from insufficient reconstruction efficiency and accuracy due to the lack of time correlation modeling during the reconstruction procedure.

Purpose: Inappropriate tensor processing steps and deep learning models may lead to not only a lack of modeling in the time dimension but also an increase in the overall size of the network.

Ultrasound provides a valuable non-invasive approach for fluid management in obstetric anesthesia. Ultrasonographic parameters assist anesthesiologists to effectively assess the fluid status of parturients and reduce related complications. In addition to conventional parameters, which have been widely validated in clinical practice, we provide new insights into arterial parameters such as peak velocity, velocity-time integral, corrected flow time, and vein-related parameters, including the internal jugular vein and its collapsibility index, the inferior vena cava and its collapsibility index, as well as subclavian vein and its collapsibility index.

Dev Neurosci

October 2024

Key Laboratory for Biomedical Engineering of Ministry of Education, Department of Biomedical Engineering, College of Biomedical Engineering & Instrument Science, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China.

Background: The fetal brain undergoes a dynamic process of development during gestation, marked by well-orchestrated events such as neuronal proliferation, migration, axonal outgrowth, and dendritic arborization, mainly elucidated through histological studies. Ex vivo magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has emerged as a useful tool for 3D visualization of the developing fetal brain, serving as a complementary tool to traditional histology.

Summary: In this review, we summarized the commonly employed ex vivo MRI techniques and their advances in fetal brain imaging, and proposed a standard protocol for postmortem fetal brain specimen collection and fixation.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an inflammatory autoimmune disease characterized by synovial hyperplasia, and fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLSs) constitute the majority of cells in the synovial tissue, playing a crucial role in the onset of RA. Dysregulation of FLSs function is a critical strategy in treating joint damage associated with RA. Non-coding RNAs, a class of RNA molecules that do not encode proteins, participate in the development of various diseases.
