Universal receptive system as a novel regulator of transcriptomic activity of Staphylococcus aureus.

Our previous studies revealed the existence of a Universal Receptive System that regulates interactions between cells and their environment. This system is composed of DNA- and RNA-based Teazeled receptors (TezRs) found on the surface of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, as well as integrases and recombinases. In the current study, we aimed to provide further insight into the regulatory role of TezR and its loss in Staphylococcus aureus gene transcription.

Clinicopathological and prognostic factor analyses of primary fallopian tube carcinoma and high-grade serous ovarian cancer: a single-institution retrospective study.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate and compare the clinicopathologic features of primary fallopian tubal carcinoma (PFTC) and high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) and explore the prognostic factors of these two malignant tumors.

Methods: Fifty-seven patients diagnosed with PFTC from 2006 to 2015 and 60 patients diagnosed with HGSOC from 2014 to 2015 with complete prognostic information were identified at Women's Hospital of Zhejiang University. The clinicopathological and surgical data were collected, and the survival of the patients was followed for 5 years after surgery.

Background: Studies have demonstrated that standardizing labor induction (IOL), often with the use of protocols, may reduce racial inequities in obstetrics. A machine learning-based model to predict POD24 in follicular lymphoma: a study by the Chinese workshop on follicular lymphoma.

Background: Disease progression within 24 months (POD24) significantly impacts overall survival (OS) in patients with follicular lymphoma (FL). This study aimed to develop a robust predictive model, FLIPI-C, using a machine learning approach to identify FL patients at high risk of POD24.

Methods: A cohort of 1,938 FL patients (FL1-3a) from seventeen centers nationwide in China was randomly divided into training and internal validation sets (2:1 ratio).

Integrative multiomics reveals common endotypes across PSEN1, PSEN2, and APP mutations in familial Alzheimer's disease.

Background: PSEN1, PSEN2, and APP mutations cause Alzheimer's disease (AD) with an early age at onset (AAO) and progressive cognitive decline. PSEN1 mutations are more common and generally have an earlier AAO; however, certain PSEN1 mutations cause a later AAO, similar to those observed in PSEN2 and APP.

Methods: We examined whether common disease endotypes exist across these mutations with a later AAO (~ 55 years) using hiPSC-derived neurons from familial Alzheimer's disease (FAD) patients harboring mutations in PSEN1, PSEN2, and APP and mechanistically characterized by integrating RNA-seq and ATAC-seq.

Methods: This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of sequential CD19 and CD22 CAR-T cell therapy in adult patients with R/R B-ALL between November 2020 and November 2023 (ChiCTR2100053871). Key endpoints included the adverse event incidence, overall survival (OS), and leukemia-free survival (LFS).

This methodological study aimed to assess the validity and reliability of the AITCS-II for practitioners within the Iranian healthcare context. Background: Despite multiple years of government HIV educational efforts, the growing trend of new cases among women in Indonesia runs parallel with their seemingly overall lack of comprehensive knowledge about HIV. A major prevention challenge for the Indonesian government lies in delivering HIV prevention education across the world's largest archipelago. This study investigates comprehensive HIV knowledge among reproductive-age women in Southwest Sumba, Indonesia, and the sources through which they report having learned about HIV along with potential mediators of the relationship between socioeconomic status (SES) and HIV knowledge.

Background: Effective evidence-based physical activity and nutrition interventions to prevent overweight and obesity and support healthy child development need to be sustained within Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) services. Despite this, little is known about factors that influence sustainability of these programs in ECEC settings. Therefore, the aim of this study was to describe the factors related to sustainability of physical activity and nutrition interventions in ECEC settings and examine their association with ECEC service characteristics.

Extended-release amphetamine (Dyanavel XR) is associated with reduced immediate-release supplementation in adults with ADHD, regardless of baseline patient variables: a retrospective cohort analysis of medical treatment records.

Background: Adults with ADHD benefit from treatment with extended-release (ER) formulations that provide symptom control for the entire day. Some patients are advised to supplement their extended-release medication with an immediate-release (IR) medication later in the day if they need to prolong its effects. Given that several FDA-approved ER formulations are available and many individual patient variables may affect efficacy, the purpose of this study was to identify reliable predictors of the tendency for patients to supplement their daily ER medication with an IR medication.

Background: NSAIDs are commonly used as first line therapy in chronic nonbacterial osteomyelitis (CNO) but are not effective for all patients. The objective of this study was to identify clinical variables associated with NSAID monotherapy response versus requiring second-line medication in a single-center cohort of patients with CNO.

Methods: The charts of children with CNO who attended a CNO clinic at a quaternary care center between 1/1/05 and 7/31/21 were retrospectively reviewed.

Background: Human placental hydrolysate (hPH) contains anti-inflammatory substances. This study aimed to analyze whether injecting hPH into the subacromial space could reduce pain in patients with shoulder impingement syndrome.

Methods: This single-blind, randomized controlled study enrolled 50 patients with shoulder impingement syndrome who were randomly assigned to either the hPH or placebo groups.

Background: Depression adversely affects health outcomes in patients with childhood-onset systemic lupus erythematous (cSLE). By identifying patients with depressive symptoms, we can intervene early with referrals to mental health resources and improve outcomes.
