Objective: This paper compares demographic, morphological, functional, and risk factors between isolated and familial forms of microtia in Ecuadorian mestizo patients.
Methods: The authors did an epidemiological, and retrospective study with 112 patients divided into isolated microtia (n = 91) and familial microtia (n = 21). Patients with syndromic microtia were not included.

We created an excitotoxic striatal lesion model of Huntington disease (HD) in sheep, using the N-methyl-d-aspartate receptor agonist, quinolinic acid (QA). Sixteen sheep received a bolus infusion of QA (75 µL, 180 mM) or saline, first into the left and then (4 weeks later) into the right striatum. Magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) of the striata were performed.

Background: There is scope to further improve the safety of transfusion practice within the United Kingdom. This study aims to identify the current role of junior doctors in the transfusion process and to assess their competency to appropriately prescribe blood and blood products to patients.
Study Design And Methods: Transfusion competency in junior doctors training in a single region was addressed through anonymized questionnaires assessing factual knowledge, personal reflection, and documented evidence of competency.
