The electromyography(EMG) signal is the biocurrent associated with muscle contraction and can be used as the input signal to a myoelectric intelligent bionic hand to control different gestures of the hand. Increasing the number of myoelectric-signal channels can yield richer information of motion intention and improve the accuracy of gesture recognition. However, as the number of acquisition channels increases, its effect on the improvement of the accuracy of gesture recognition gradually diminishes, resulting in the improvement of the control effect reaching a plateau.

July 2024

State Key Laboratory of Explosion Science and Technology, School of Mechatronical Engineering, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing, 100081, China.

The upconversion luminescence (UCL) in the second near-infrared window (NIR-II) is highly attractive due to its excellent performance in high-resolution bioimaging, anticounterfeiting, and temperature sensing. However, upconvertion nanoparticles (UCNPs) are normally emitted in visible light, potentially impacting the imaging quality. Here, a monochromatic Er-rich (NaErF:x%Yb@NaYF) nanoparticles with excitation at 1532 nm and emission at 978 nm is proposed, both situated in the NIR-II region.

February 2024

State Key Laboratory of Explosion Science and Safety Protection, School of Mechatronical Engineering, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing, 100081, China.

Dual-ion batteries based on organic electrodes show great potential to break through the bottlenecks existed in conventional LIBs due to their high specific capacity, lifted working voltage, and environmental benignity. Herein, two innovative viologen-based bipolar copolymers poly(viologen-pyrene-4,5,9,10-tetrone dichloride) (PVPTOCl ) and poly(viologen-anthraquinone dichloride) (PVAQCl ) were synthesized and applied as high performance cathodes for lithium-dual-ion battery. Bearing the dual-ion storage capability of viologen and carbonyls, as well as the conjugated structure of pyrene-4,5,9,10-tetrone, the synthesized copolymers show remarkable electrochemical performances for LIBs.

Inoculum size-insensitive susceptibility determination of urine sample based on in-situ measurement of inducible enzyme activity after 20 min of antibiotic exposure.

Anal Chim Acta

November 2023

State Key Laboratory of Hydrology-Water Resources and Hydraulic Engineering, Hohai University, Nanjing, 210098, China. Electronic address:

Background: The empirical antibiotic therapies for bacterial infections cause the emergence and propagation of multi-drug resistant bacteria, which not only impair the effectiveness of existing antibiotics but also raise healthcare costs. To reduce the empirical treatments, rapid antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) of causative microorganisms in clinical samples should be conducted for prescribing evidence-based antibiotics. However, most of culture-based ASTs suffer from inoculum effect and lack differentiation of target pathogen and commensals, hampering their adoption for evidence-based antibiotic prescription.

When humanoid robots work in human environments, falls are inevitable due to the complexity of such environments. Current research on humanoid robot falls has mainly focused on falls on the ground, with little research on humanoid robots falling from the air. In this paper, we employ an extended state variable formulation that directly maps from the high-level motion strategy space to the full-body joint space to optimize the falling trajectory in order to protect the robot when falling from the air.

October 2023

Biomaterials and Organ Engineering Group, Centre for Biomaterials, Cellular and Molecular Theranostics, School of Mechanical Engineering, Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore, India.

Tailored intestinal fistula stents with a hollow bent pipe structure prepared by using a three-axis bio-printing platform are often unsuitable due to low printing efficiency and quality caused by the unavoidable need for a supporting structure. Herein, a 5 + 1-axis 3D printing platform was built and developed for producing support-free intestinal fistula stents. A 3D model of the target stent shape and dimensions was treated by a dynamic slicing algorithm, which was then used to prepare a motion control code.

Micromachines (Basel)

August 2023

Intelligent Robotics Institute, School of Mechatronical Engineering, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing 100081, China.

Microcontact printing (CP) is widely used to guide neurons to form 2D networks for neuroscience research. However, it is still difficult to establish 3D neuronal cultures on the CP substrate even though 3D neuronal structures are able to recapitulate critical aspects of native tissue. Here, we demonstrate that the reduced cell-substrate adhesion caused by the CP substrate could conveniently facilitate the aggregate formation of large-scale 3D neuron cluster networks.

Visual object tracking is a fundamental task in computer vision that requires estimating the position and scale of a target object in a video sequence. However, scale variation is a difficult challenge that affects the performance and robustness of many trackers, especially those based on the discriminative correlation filter (DCF). Existing scale estimation methods based on multi-scale features are computationally expensive and degrade the real-time performance of the DCF-based tracker, especially in scenarios with restricted computing power.
