Establishment of a survival rabbit model for laryngotracheal stenosis: A prospective randomized study.

Laryngoscope Investig Otolaryngol

December 2024

National Engineering Research Center of Light Alloy Net Forming, State Key Laboratory of Metal Matrix Composites, School of Materials Science and Engineering Shanghai Jiao Tong University Shanghai China.

Objective: To develop a reproducible survival rabbit model for laryngotracheal stenosis (LTS).

Methods: Seventy New Zealand white (NZW) rabbits were randomly divided into experimental groups ( = 30) and a control group ( = 40). In experimental groups, a nylon brush was inserted retrograde from the tracheotomy through the subglottis and rotated until a full layer circumferential mucosal injury to cartilage exposure, assisted by fiberoptic laryngoscopy (FOL) visualization.

Indocyanine green (ICG), as the sole near-infrared dye FDA-approved, is limited in biomedical applications because of its poor photostability, lack of targeting, and rapid removal in vivo. Herein, we presented a nanoformulation of poly-l-lysine-indocyanine green-hyaluronic acid (PIH) and demonstrated that it can image orthodox endometriosis (EM) lesions with a negative contrast. The PIH nanocluster, with an average diameter of approximately 200 nm, exhibited improved fluorescence photostability and antioxidant ability compared to free ICG.

Many studies have shown that the severe photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) loss at the interface between the perovskite and electron transport layer (ETL) is the main cause of voltage loss in inverted perovskite solar cells (p-i-n PSCs). However, currently there are no effective passivation techniques to minimize this nonradiative recombination. Here, the fluorinated pseudohalide ionic liquid (FPH-IL) 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide (EMIMTFSI) is introduced into the perovskite precursor formulation.

Endometriosis (EM) is a prevalent and debilitating gynecological disorder primarily affecting women of reproductive age. The diagnosis of EM is historically hampered by delays, owing to the absence of reliable diagnostic and monitoring techniques. Herein, it is reported that photoacoustic imaging can be a noninvasive modality for deep-seated EM by employing a hyaluronic-acid-modified polydopamine (PDA@HA) nanoparticle as the contrast agent.

Neuromorphic computing is considered a promising method for resolving the traditional von Neumann bottleneck. Natural biomaterial-based artificial synapses are popular units for constructing neuromorphic computing systems while suffering from poor linearity and limited conduction states. In this work, a AgNO doped iota-carrageenan (ι-car) based memristor is proposed to resolve the non-linear limitation.

Bandgap engineered ferroelectrics exhibit encouraging multi-energy catalytic performance by coupling the piezoelectricity and photoexcitation, which shows immense potential for environmental remediation and fuel production. However, it is challenging to prepare nano single-crystalline ferroelectric piezo-photoelectric with strong visible light absorption ability. Here, Ni mediated NBT-BT(NBT-BNT) single-crystalline nanocubes around 100 nm with considerable visible light absorption were synthesized by a high-temperature hydrothermal method.

Radio-sensitization is highly desired to reduce side-effect of the harsh dose of radiation therapy (RT), for which nanoparticles with high atomic number elements provide a promising tool. However, insufficient knowledge on utilizing the interaction between nanoparticles and cancerous cells hampers the improvement of therapeutic outcome. We herein employed NaGdF:Yb,Er nano-crystals as the sensitizer, and modified them with a tumor targeting agent and a mitochondria targeting moiety, separately and jointly, to achieve varied extent of mitochondrial accumulation.

The band structure of ferroelectrics can be modulated by mechanical stress induced piezoelectric polarization charges, and thus to promote the separation of photo-excited carriers, endowing photo-piezocatalysts with good performance in hydrogen production and pollutants degradation. However, the catalytic performance of these conventional photo-piezocatalysts is restricted since they mainly harvest UV light and generally have limited piezoelectricity. Here, in this study, by using self-propagation high-temperature synthesis process, highly piezoelectric gap-state-engineered nano relaxor ferroelectric at the morphotropic phase boundary, such as (NaBi)TiO-Ba(TiNi)O is synthesized for the first time and shows unprecedently light harvesting from UV to near-infrared (λ < 1300 nm).

Liquid-like materials are one family of promising thermoelectric materials discovered in the past years due to their advantanges of ultrahigh thermoelectric figure of merit (), low cost, and environmental friendliness. However, their practial applications are greatly limited by the low service stability from the Cu/Ag metal deposition under large current and/or temperature gradient. Both high for high efficiency and large critical voltage for good stability are required for liquid-like materials, but they are usually strongly correlated and hard to be tuned individually.

The room-temperature tensile strength, toughness, and high-temperature creep strength of 2000, 6000, and 7000 series aluminum alloys can be improved significantly by dispersing up to 1 wt% carbon nanotubes (CNTs) into the alloys without sacrificing tensile ductility, electrical conductivity, or thermal conductivity. CNTs act like forest dislocations, except mobile dislocations cannot annihilate with them. Dislocations cannot climb over 1D CNTs unlike 0D dispersoids/precipitates.

Tin-based chalcogenide semiconductors, though attractive materials for photovoltaics, have to date exhibited poor performance and stability for photoelectrochemical applications. Here, a novel strategy is reported to improve performance and stability of tin monosulfide (SnS) nanoplatelet thin films for H production in acidic media without any use of sacrificial reagent. P-type SnS nanoplatelet films are coated with the -CdS buffer layer and the TiO passivation layer to form type II heterojunction photocathodes.
