Malnutrition is a significant concern for head and neck cancer (HNC) patients, as treatment often impairs mastication, causes dysphagia, and alters taste and smell, leading to reduced food intake and a diminished quality of life. Thus, this study aims to compare nutritional intake in HNC survivors using maxillofacial prostheses (MFPs) to healthy reference values and identify the factors influencing their dietary intake. The study included 56 patients treated for HNC undergoing rehabilitation with comfortable definitive dentures for over a month at the Maxillofacial Prosthetics Clinic of Tokyo Medical and Dental University Hospital.

This clinical report summarizes a workflow that introduces two approaches for fabricating a metal framework removable partial denture for a marginal mandibulectomy patient. First, the pre-existing denture was adjusted according to the piezographic technique to determine the optimal configuration for adhering to the available denture space. Second, computer-aided design-computer-aided manufacturing (CAD-CAM) technology was used to fabricate a new removable partial denture by digitally scanning the oral condition and the well-adjusted denture and then using the obtained data to design and fabricate the new denture.

Lysyl hydroxylase 2 (LH2) catalyzes the hydroxylation of lysine residues in the telopeptides of type I collagen. This modification is critical for the formation of stable hydroxylysine-aldehyde derived collagen cross-links, thus, for the stability of collagen fibrils. Though dysfunction of LH2 causes Bruck syndrome, recessive osteogenesis imperfecta with joint contracture, the molecular mechanisms by which LH2 affects bone formation are still not well understood.

The impact of tongue size and forces on surrounding tissues have been described, but clinical reports on the influence on dentoalveolar structures after glossectomy for cancer are lacking. This report describes the dental and bony changes after subtotal glossectomy for squamous cell carcinoma by comparing 3-dimensional models generated from computed tomography scans at various time points during the clinical course. Surface comparison showed lingual tipping of the teeth and areas of bone surface remodeling on the alveolar bone, basilar bone, coronoid process, and condyles.

This study evaluated the effect of simulated pulpal pressure (SPP) conditions and storage time on contemporary adhesive systems' microtensile bond strength (µTBS) to dentin. Extracted human molars were prepared and randomly divided into four groups according to the adhesives: Clearfil Megabond 2 (CSE), Beautibond Xtreme Universal (BXU), G2-Bond (G2B), and Scotchbond Universal Plus (SBP).
