Background: Young adults (ages 18-39 years) with cancer face unique risks for negative psychosocial outcomes. These risks could be lessened with positive psychology interventions adapted for social media if intervention messages encourage intentions to do the activities and positive message reactions and if young adults with cancer perceive few downsides.

Objective: This study aimed to assess whether social media messages from evidence-based positive psychology interventions encouraged intentions to do the intervention activities and intended positive message reactions, overall and among sociodemographic or cancer characteristic subgroups.

Linking adolescents' phubbing to depression: the serial mediating effects of peer relationship quality and psychological need frustration.

Introduction: Phubbing is defined as a phenomenon in which individuals use their smartphones during conversations with others, focusing on the smartphones and escaping from interpersonal interactions. This phenomenon has been extensively studied in the literature. However, most studies concerning phubbing have focused on understanding its impact on the receivers; few have investigated the consequences of phubbing on the actors themselves.

A Pilot Dashboard System to Track Cumulative Exposure to Sound Levels during Music Instruction: A Technical Report.

Background:  Music-induced hearing loss (MIHL) is a critical public health issue. During music instruction, students and teachers are at risk of developing hearing loss due to exposure to loud and unsafe sound levels that can exceed 100 dBA. Prevention of MIHL in music students must be a desired action of all music educators.

Preference reversal in intertemporal decision making.

This study examines asymmetric preference reversals in intertemporal decision-making by comparing gain and loss contexts across choice and bidding tasks. In the gain context, participants preferred smaller, sooner (SS) rewards in choice tasks but assigned higher valuations to larger, later (LL) rewards in bidding tasks. Conversely, in the loss context, they showed a preference for LL options in choice tasks but provided lower bids for SS options.

In the context of the transmission of hazardous Omicron variant strains, vaccine popularization and acceptance are very important to ensure world health security. Social media can spread information and increase public confidence in and acceptance of vaccines.

The relationships between short video addiction, subjective well-being, social support, personality, and core self-evaluation: a latent profile analysis.

Background: The proportion of short video addiction (SVA) is increasing among different populations, and its impact on the adolescent group has attracted research attention in recent years. To better explore the heterogeneity of individuals addicted to short videos and the antecedents of their addiction, the present study used quantitative research to conduct a latent profile analysis (LPA) of college students' SVA from the perspective of internal and external resources.

Methods: Referring to the Interaction of Person-Affect-Cognition-Execution (I-PACE) theory, this study explores the relationship between subgroups of SVA on the one hand and subjective well-being (SWB), social support (SS), core self-evaluation (CSE), and extraversion on the other using latent profile analysis.

Background: Previous research has indicated that health literacy has a good influence on the mental health among older adults. The current study aims to determine whether health literacy is linked to depressive symptoms in older adults in west China, and tries to detect the mechanisms underlying the linkage between health literacy and depressive symptoms in the Chinese context.

Methods: Study data were obtained from a cross-sectional ageing health literacy survey conducted in 2017 in Western China, and 812 urban individuals aged 60 and older were selected.

This study aimed to explore the dissemination of HIV/AIDS-related information and risk factors on social media during AIDS Weeks, helping policymakers and public health organizations understand how the public utilizes social media to formulate strategies for AIDS health campaigns better. This study used Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) topic modeling and sentiment analysis to investigate the distribution of themes and people's reactions during AIDS Weeks. Recall, understanding, use, and impact of front-of-package warning labels on ultra-processed foods: A qualitative study with mothers of preschool children in Peru.

In its efforts to reduce increasing rates of obesity and nutrition-related noncommunicable diseases, Peru implemented front-of-package (FOP) warning labels (also called warnings) on processed and ultra-processed foods in June 2019. The goal was to inform consumers about high levels of sugars, saturated fats, sodium, and trans fats in packaged products. We designed a qualitative study to reveal the recall, understanding, and use of the warnings and to explore the perceived changes in purchasing behaviors among mothers of preschool children in Peru.

A Clinical Prediction Model For Short-Term Prognosis In Patients With Non Acute Myocardial Infarction Related Cardiogenic Shock.

Background: While acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is widely recognized as the primary cause of Cardiogenic Shock (CS), Non-AMI related CS has been excluded from the majority of CS studies. Improving representation of Hispanic adults in a population-based cancer genetics cohort: Qualitative findings from the Healthy Oregon Project.

Background: Members of many racial and ethnic population subgroups are underrepresented in clinical trials and research. We present perspectives on barriers and facilitators to study participation gathered from Hispanic participants in a population-based genetic screening study.

Methods: Seven focus groups (five in English and two in Spanish) were conducted with self-identified Hispanic participants of the Healthy Oregon Project (HOP), a large population-based cohort of adults residing in Oregon.

Tone classification of online medical services based on 1DCNN-BiLSTM.

In order to improve the recognition rate of the tone classification of doctors in online medical services scenarios, we propose a model that integrates a one-dimensional convolutional neural network (1DCNN) with a bidirectional long short-term memory network (BiLSTM). Firstly, significant tone types within online medical services scenarios were identified through a survey questionnaire. Secondly, 68 features in both the time and frequency domains of doctors' tone were extracted using Librosa, serving as the initial input for the model.

A demonstration of superior judgement? Exploring league of legends players' performance in risky and ambiguous decision-making tasks.

In three studies, we investigated how League of Legends (LOL) game experience and game skill relate to players' performance in the Iowa Gambling Task (IGT), Balloon Analogue Risk Task (BART), and Probability Discounting Task (PDT). Additionally, the present study examined the relationship between players' in-game risk preferences and their performance in three types of decision-making tasks. To achieve this, we utilized a self-developed League of Legends Risk Propensity Scale (LRPS) to characterize LOL players' in-game risk preferences.

How Message-Evoked Emotions Undermine Persuasion: The Mediating Role of Fear and Anger in Health Message Effects Among Older Adults.

Guided by literature on framing, this study explored how the presence of age labels in different message frames influenced message-evoked fear and anger responses, particularly for older adults with different levels of need for autonomy (NFA), which ultimately affected their physical activity intentions. The results of a three-factor between-subjects experiment, with message frame (gain versus loss) and age label (present versus absent) as manipulated variables and NFA (low versus medium versus high) as quasi-experiment variable ( = 237) revealed that loss-framed message evoked higher levels of fear and anger as compared to gain-framed message. Furthermore, the anger elicited by loss-framing was more pronounced when age labels were present, especially among older adults with low NFA.

An eHealth Intervention to Improve Quality of Life, Socioemotional, and Health-Related Measures Among Older Adults With Multiple Chronic Conditions: Randomized Controlled Trial.

Background: In the United States, over 60% of adults aged 65 years or older have multiple chronic health conditions, with consequences that include reduced quality of life, increasingly complex but less person-centered treatment, and higher health care costs. A previous trial of ElderTree, an eHealth intervention for older adults, found socioemotional benefits for those with high rates of primary care use.

Objective: This study tested the effectiveness of an ElderTree intervention designed specifically for older patients with multiple chronic conditions to determine whether combining it with primary care improved socioemotional and physical outcomes.

Exploring the self-perceived causes of eating disorders among Chinese social media users with self-reported eating disorders.

Background: Even though robust evidence suggests the high prevalence of eating disorders (EDs) in China, EDs in China are characterized by low diagnosis rates, delayed treatment-seeking, and ineffective treatments. Given that listening to patients' perspectives and lived experiences is crucial to improving our understanding of EDs in the Chinese context, an investigation of the perceived causes of EDs in Chinese individuals with EDs represents a key step in improving the prevention and treatment of EDs in China.

Aims: To explore the perceived causes of EDs based on data from a sample of Chinese social media users with self-reported EDs, with a particular focus on the Zhihu platform.
