The public's stated value and heterogeneous preferences are crucial for formulating policies and financing approaches to promote the control of agricultural non-point-source pollution (ANSP). This study aims to investigate urban residents' willingness to pay (WTP) for ANSP control and analyse the source of preference heterogeneity using a choice experiment method. Survey data were obtained from face-to-face interviews with 595 respondents in south Shaanxi Province, China.

Science education is attracting increasing attention and many researchers focus on the issue about the attitude-achievement relationship in science, but there is still no consistent conclusion. By using a three-level meta-analytic approach, the aim of the current study was to investigate the relationship between attitude toward science and academic achievement in learning science among primary and secondary school students, and to explore if some study characteristics could have contributed to the inconsistent findings with regard to this relationship as observed in the research literature. A total of 37 studies with 132 effect sizes involving a total of 1,042,537 participants were identified.

A number of previous studies reported a link between body mass index (BMI) and body appreciation; however, many of these studies were conducted in Western countries and addressed younger samples. Older adults, especially in East Asia, remain insufficiently examined. Therefore, the objective of this study was to examine the relationship between BMI and body appreciation and to explore two potential mediators, body dissatisfaction and body image inflexibility, as proposed in a previous meta-analysis.

The spread of infectious diseases is highly related to the structure of human networks. Analyzing the contact network of patients can help clarify the path of virus transmission. Based on confirmed cases of COVID-19 in two major tourist provinces in southern China (Hainan and Yunnan), this study analyzed the epidemiological characteristics and dynamic contact network structure of patients in these two places.

Electronic address:

Riverine water exposed to heavy metals (HMs) pollution is a major concern in the world because of its serious effects on ecosystem and human health. This study assessed the pollution status, sources, diffusion and potential risks of Mn, Co, Cu, Zn, Cr, Ni, Cd, Hg and Pb for the first time along the entire Indus Drainage System of Pakistan. The concentrations of nine HMs in the riverine water ranged from 5.

Robust Simulations of Nanoscale Phase Change Memory: Dynamics and Retention.

Nanomaterials (Basel)

November 2021

School of Electronic and Computer Engineering, Peking University, Shenzhen 518055, China.

A robust simulation framework was developed for nanoscale phase change memory (PCM) cells. Starting from the reaction rate theory, the dynamic nucleation was simulated to capture the evolution of the cluster population. To accommodate the non-uniform critical sizes of nuclei due to the non-isothermal conditions during PCM cell programming, an improved crystallization model was proposed that goes beyond the classical nucleation and growth model.

The purpose of this current study is to find the characteristics and influence mechanism of the perceived social support (PSS) and general well-being (GWB) of adolescents and to explore the mediating role of resilience on the relationship between PSS and GWB in the worst-stricken areas 10 years after the Wenchuan Earthquake. This study was conducted in two secondary schools in Beichuan (N = 1969) using the Perceived Social Support Scale, the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale, and the General Well-Being Scale. Results showed that PSS of adolescents in the worst-stricken area significantly decreased compared to 10 years ago and their current PSS was lower than their peers' in developed cities.

Urban household consumption contributes substantially to global greenhouse gases (GHGs) emissions. Urban household emissions encompass both direct and indirect emissions, with the former associated with the direct use of fossil fuels and the latter with the emissions embodied in the consumed goods and services. However, there is a lack of consistent and comprehensive datasets outlining in great detail emissions from urban household consumption.

The impact of disinvestment on alcohol and drug treatment delivery and outcomes: a systematic review.

BMC Public Health

November 2021

MRC/CSO Social and Public Health Sciences Unit, University of Glasgow, Berkeley Square, 99 Berkeley Street, Glasgow, G3 7HR, UK.

Background: In the context of substantial financial disinvestment from alcohol and drug treatment services in England, our aim was to review the existing evidence of how such disinvestments have impacted service delivery, uptake, outcomes and broader health and social implications.

Methods: We conducted a systematic review of quantitative and qualitative evidence (PROSPERO CRD42020187295), searching bibliographic databases and grey literature. Given that an initial scoping search highlighted a scarcity of evidence specific to substance use treatment, evidence of disinvestment from publicly funded sexual health and smoking cessation services was also included.

Research on eating disorders (EDs) and body image disturbances has focused mostly on females from Western countries, and little is known about EDs in male populations in China, which is partially due to the lack of validated assessment measures. The current work aims to translate the Muscularity-Oriented Eating Test (MOET), Drive for Muscularity Scale (DMS) and Muscle Dysmorphic Disorder Inventory (MDDI) into Chinese and examine their psychometric properties. The factor structures, reliability and validity of the translated scales were examined with two samples: male university students ( = 295, = 18.
