December 2024

Vocational Higher School of Healthcare Studies, Batman University, Batman, Turkey,. Electronic address:

Cadmium (Cd) is an environmental pollutant heavy metal with nephrotoxic effect. One of the primary constituents of essential oils is Linalool (Lin), a monoterpene having a variety of pharmacological properties including antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant effects. The purpose of this study was to ascertain how Lin affected endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) and pro-inflammatory mediators in Cd-induced nephrotoxicity.

Background: The mental health of children/young people is a growing concern internationally. Numerous reports and reviews have consistently described United Kingdom children's mental health services as fragmented, variable, inaccessible and lacking an evidence base. Little is known about the effectiveness of, and implementation complexities associated with, service models for children/young people experiencing 'common' mental health problems like anxiety, depression, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and self-harm.

One of the adverse effects of the antineoplastic drug cisplatin (CS) is damage to testicular tissue. This study aimed to examine the potential therapeutic effect of thymoquinone (TQ), a strong antioxidant, against testicular damage caused by CS. In the experiment, 28 rats were used, and the rats were randomly divided into four groups: control (n = 7), CS (n = 7), CS + TQ (n = 7), and TQ (n = 7).

Background: Little is known about the effectiveness of, and implementation complexities associated with, service delivery models for children and young people (CYP) experiencing 'common' mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, behavioural difficulties and self-harm. This paper outlines how a model for high-quality service design for this population group was developed by identifying available services, their effectiveness, cost-effectiveness and acceptability, and the barriers and enablers to access.

Methods: Sequential, mixed-methods design, combining evidence syntheses (scoping and integrative reviews of the international literature) with primary research (a collective case study in England and Wales).

Background And Purpose: The aim of this paper is to describe and critically analyse creative research methods, exploring how these can offer ways to enable non-verbal and non-ambulant children and young people with cerebral palsy, to express their views about their well-being. The context of this research explored their choices for recreational activities, seeking to understand how their level of participation impacted upon their well-being.

Methods: A qualitative comparative case study design was chosen comprising of two interviews, using photographs and diaries to elicit discussion, supported by observations.

Resveratrol may dose-dependently modulate nephrin and OTULIN levels in a doxorubicin-induced nephrotoxicity model.

Toxicol Mech Methods

January 2024

Department of Histology and Embryology, Faculty of Medicine, Firat University, Elazig, Turkey.

One of the most important side effects of Doxorubicin (DOX), a chemotherapeutic agent, is nephrotoxicity. The purpose of this study is to determine whether different doses of natural polyphenol Resveratrol (RSV) show antioxidative, anti-inflammatory or antiapoptotic effects in kidney tissue in DOX-induced nephrotoxicity and to detect how nephrin and OTULIN levels are affected in this process. A total of six equal groups made up of the 42 Sprague-Dawley rats utilized in the study ( = 7) were randomly assigned.

The experimental myocardial infarction (MI) model originating from isoproterenol (ISO) is frequently preferred in research due to its similarity to MI-induced damage in humans. Beneficial effects of L-arginine (L-Arg), a semi-essential amino acid, in cardiovascular diseases have been shown in many studies. This study was carried out to determine whether L-Arg pre-intervention has protective effects on heart tissue in the experimental MI model.

Purpose: This paper authentically represents the voices of non-verbal children with cerebral palsy using a case study design. Policy suggests that children should have the right to play and leisure opportunities, however non-verbal children with cerebral palsy have fewer choices. Additionally, children with communication, learning and mobility limitations are usually excluded from research.

Aluminum (AL) is a heavy metal known to have toxic effects on the reproductive system. It is known that N-acetylcysteine (NAC), which has an antioxidant effect, is a useful chelator for heavy metals. This study aimed to determine whether NAC may reduce AL-induced oxidative stress, inflammation, and germ cell apoptosis in testicular tissues and its effects on meteorin-like (METRNL) levels, which are known to play a role in energy metabolism.

Endosulfan Elimination Using Amine-Modified Magnetic Diatomite as an Adsorbent.

Front Chem

May 2022

Vocational Higher School of Healthcare Studies, Mardin Artuklu University, Mardin, Turkey.

Pesticides are among the most dangerous developing toxins since they are very hazardous to the environment and threaten human health. In this study, researchers successfully manufactured surface-modified magnetic diatomite (m-DE-APTES) and used them as a sorbent to extract endosulfan from an aqueous solution. There is no other study like it in the scholarly literature, and the results are astounding.

Protective Effect of N-Acetylcysteine Against Aluminum-Induced Kidney Tissue Damage in Rats.

Biol Trace Elem Res

April 2023

Department of Histology and Embryology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Selçuk University, Konya, Turkey.

Aluminum (AL) is an important nephrotoxic agent with a high daily exposure rate and property of accumulation in tissues. This study aimed to investigate the potential protective efficacy of N-acetylcysteine (NAC) against AL exposure-induced nephrotoxicity in rats. Twenty-eight rats were randomly divided into 4 groups as control, N-acetylcysteine group (NC), AL, and AL + NC, with an equal number of rats in each group (n = 7).

  • The study aims to explore the impact of 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi exposure on brain cell composition, specifically focusing on microRNA and fatty acid profiles in rats.
  • Sixteen Wistar Albino rats were split into two groups: one exposed to continuous Wi-Fi radiation for a year and another kept without exposure as a control group.
  • Results showed that long-term Wi-Fi exposure increased certain microRNA and fatty acids in the brain, suggesting potential health risks linked to ongoing Wi-Fi use.

  • - The study investigated the protective effects of Pleurotus eryngii extract (PE) and chitosan nanoparticles loaded with the extract (PE-CSNP) against testicular damage caused by the chemotherapy drug doxorubicin (DOX) in male rats.
  • - Rats were divided into six treatment groups, including controls and various combinations of PE, PE-CSNP, and DOX, administered over a 21-day period.
  • - Results showed that both PE and PE-CSNP reduced oxidative stress and apoptosis markers in the testicles of DOX-treated rats, with PE-CSNP proving to be more effective than PE in protecting against testicular toxicity.
