Resistance exercise training induces muscle hypertrophy, and recovery between sessions is one of the major determinants of this effect. However, the effect of the recovery period between sessions on muscle hypertrophy following resistance exercise training remains unclear. To elucidate the effect of recovery period on hypertrophy, in the present study, we investigated changes in protein degradation systems and hypertrophic responses in rat skeletal muscle to resistance training with variable recovery periods.

Promoting physical activity (PA) among older adults with cognitive decline is important for maintaining and improving their health. Identifying psychological and environmental PA correlates in this population can help develop effective strategies for PA promotion. Since past findings with healthy older adults may not generalize to those with cognitive decline, this study offers data on how self-efficacy, self-regulation, and social-environmental factors were associated with PA among a group of older adults with cognitive decline.

Research has addressed the usefulness of psychosocial strategies within physiotherapy, as part of a biopsychosocial model. A lack of current research in Australia concerning the views of physiotherapists, from a range of practice areas, regarding a variety of strategies, suggests the need for broader exploration. This research employed a cross-sectional survey asking Australian physiotherapists ( = 251) to rate their perceived importance and perceived benefits of psychosocial strategies; perceived positive effects on rehabilitation outcomes and adherence; confidence in applying strategies, and perceived benefits of further training.

Slow-motion footage of sports actions is widely used as a visual learning tool in observing the dynamic motor behaviors of athletes. Recent studies on action observation have reported that extending the observation time in slow-motion footage provides benefits of understanding the intention of an opponent's action, at least when observing rapid movements. As such, the use of slow-motion footage may have the potential to improve the anticipatory judgments of an opponent's action outcome without training (or feedback).

To analyze changes in pitching motions in relation to pitching conditions during practice versus game comparatively, seven high school over-throwing pitchers served as subjects in this study, who then performed pitches in various conditions. Data were processed using the statistical analysis program SPSS 21.0, and the moving distances and angles of the joints at the point of ball release were analyzed using repeated measurements one-way analysis of variance, followed by Bonferroni tests.
