Human gut Bacteroides and Parabacteroides species play crucial roles in human health and are known for their capacity to utilize diverse polysaccharides. Understanding how these bacteria utilize medicinal polysaccharides is foundational for developing polysaccharides-based prebiotics and drugs. Here, we systematically mapped the utilization profiles of 20 different medicinal polysaccharides by 28 human gut Bacteroides and Parabacteroides species.

Nonlinear relationship between physical environment risks, investor attentions, and financial systemic risks: Evidence from mLSTM-CoVaR networks.

How do physical environment risks affect financial market systemic risk? We use remoting data to measure physical environment risks and select 26 banks across 12 EU countries. We extend the CoVaR framework with the quantile-mLSTM algorithm, obtaining time-varying CoVaRs. We then use time-varying partial derivatives to calculate the banks' tail risk spillover effects.

Firm ownerships matter in measuring carbon footprints and its driving forces in China's domestic value chains.

Some research has studied the carbon footprints of the multinational enterprises (MNEs) in the global value chains (GVCs). However, currently there are few studies have studied the carbon footprints of the foreign invested firms (FIFs) distributed in different provinces in China's domestic value chains (DVCs). This paper has used China's inter-provincial input-output table distinguishing domestically owned enterprises (DEs), Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan (HMTs) invested enterprises and other foreign invested enterprises (FIEs) to study the carbon footprints of the FIFs in China's DVCs and further analyzed the driving factors of the carbon footprints change.

Command-and-control environmental policies are crucial for achieving sustainable development across environmental, economic, and social dimensions. However, these policies often neglect the impact on vulnerable populations and impoverished regions. This paper reveals the mechanisms and impacts of CAC exacerbating regional economic inequality under resource endowment differences through empirical analysis of county panel data in China from 2010 to 2021.

Decision optimization in the linked electricity market at multi-timescale: Integrating coupled tradable green certificate and green power trading.

Achieving the national climate target would depend on national actions. China has implemented important market mechanisms for a green and low-carbon energy transition, including the Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS), the Tradable Green Certificate (TGC) market, the green power trading market, and so on. However, how to effectively integrate coupled TGC and green power trading to achieve a balance between maximizing economic benefits and environmental friendliness remains to be explored.

Research on the ordering strategy problem in supply chain with profit allocation under two-level price-fluctuation sales.

This paper investigates optimal ordering strategies in supply chains under two-level price fluctuations and initial profit allocation. By utilizing Copula functions to model the complex relationship between fluctuating prices and uncertain demand, the study develops both continuous and discrete decision models for practical applications. A discrete algorithm is proposed to approximate the optimal solution, with its convergence rigorously proven.

The Environmental and Public Health Benefits of Offshore Wind Power Deployment in China.

With the rapid decline in the levelized cost, offshore wind power offers a new option for the clean energy transition of the power sector in China's coastal areas. Here, we develop a power system capacity expansion and operation optimization model to simulate the penetration of offshore wind power in China and quantify the associated health effects. We find that offshore wind power has great potential in mitigating the negative impacts of existing coal-fired power emissions.

Integrating robots and artificial intelligence (AI) into workplaces is becoming increasingly prevalent across various sectors, including hospitality. Generally, to address the resource management issues in high-speed railway operations, particularly in the context of large-scale networked high-speed train transportation organizations, a phased optimization approach is introduced. This approach divides the problem into two stages: the high-speed train timetabling and the planning of Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) route. The lack of direct integration between these stages has hindered the flexible and efficient utilization of line capacity and EMU resources based on large-scale network, limiting the potential for mutual compensation and coordination among different types of resources across different regions.

Revealing sources for synergistic control of PM, O, and CO in China: Based on social costs of air pollution and climate impact.

China is concurrently facing the dual challenges of air pollution and climate change. Here, we established a coupled modeling framework that integrated a chemical transport model with a health impact assessment model and the human capital method, to quantify the contributions of 150 emission sources (five sectors in 30 provinces) to the CO emissions, and the mortality burdens attributed to O and PM. We found that, in 2019, the estimated premature deaths in China attributed to PM and O pollution were 1,499,073 and 143,420, respectively.

Government carbon reduction policies and the shift to green lifestyles: The role of innovation, incentive, driving and economic effect.

This paper evaluates the impact of government efforts on the promotion of green lifestyles in realizing carbon emission reduction, a critical issue for achieving sustainable development. From the perspective of government policy, it examines the theoretical mechanisms through which government's attention to carbon reduction influences and catalyzes shifts in residents' adoption of green lifestyles. Employing an individual fixed-effects model, it conducts an empirical analysis to evaluate the influence of government's carbon reduction attention on the transformation of residents' environmental behaviors.

Effect of pig breeding scale on manure resource utilization-The moderating effect based on technology cognition.

The utilization of manure resources is an important measure to promote the development of agricultural green low-carbon cycle and solve the challenges associated with the current large-scale development of the livestock and poultry breeding industry. Based on the survey data of pig farmers in Qingdao, Shandong Province, China, this paper constructs a theoretical analysis framework of pig breeding scale and technical cognition on the utilization behavior of livestock and poultry manure resources of pig farmers. The binary Logit model and the moderating effect model are used to deeply explore the scale effect of breeding scale on the utilization behavior of pig farmers' manure resources, and the moderating effect of technical cognition on the influence of breeding scale on the utilization behavior of manure resources.

The exposure to extreme heat at workplaces poses substantial threat to human effort and manual labour. This becomes more prominent due to the global dispersion of labour-intensive production activities via trade. We combine a climate model with an input-output model to quantify the risks associated with trade-related occupational extreme heat exposure.

OTU domain-containing protein 3 (OTUD3) is a crucial deubiquitinase that exhibits significant expression differences across various disease models. OTUD3 plays a role in regulating biological functions such as apoptosis, inflammatory responses, cell cycle, proliferation, and invasion in different cell types. By deubiquitinating key substrate proteins, OTUD3 is involved in essential physiological and pathological processes, including innate antiviral immunity, neural development, neurodegenerative diseases, and cancer.

Impact of local government environmental attention on corporate total factor productivity: Evidence from 288 Chinese cities.

To improve the effectiveness of government environmental attention on resource allocation, this study proposes a measurement framework using text analysis and an unsupervised Word2vec model to quantify local government environmental attention of 288 Chinese cities. We further examine its impact on total factor productivity (TFP) of China's listed firms from 2010 to 2021 using the high-dimensional fixed-effects and panel quantile regression models. The findings show that: (1) Local government environmental attention contributes positively to TFP, with each unit increase raising TFP by approximately 1.

The growth in carbon emissions poses a severe challenge to global sustainable development, making it imperative to explore the impacts of economic restructuring and technological progress on Carbon Emission Performance (CEP). However, existing studies often lack an integrated analysis of economic restructuring and technological progress, while giving limited attention to the indirect role of Environmental Regulation (ER). This study constructs a multidimensional theoretical framework, breaking down economic restructuring into four dimensions-industrial structure, factor input, ownership, and new-type urbanization (NTU), and refining technological progress into technological innovation and energy efficiency.

Using the Forel-Ule index (FUI) to track the water quality of subsidence water bodies across the life cycle of coal mining in eastern China.

The water quality and associated ecological risks in subsidence water bodies formed by underground coal mining are an increasing global concern. However, long-term water quality changes in these subsidence water bodies, especially across different spatial regions, remain poorly understood. This paper, by mapping the Forel-Ule index (FUI) a key indicator of water color, using Landsat datasets to reveal the dynamic evolution of water quality in 402 subsidence water bodies in the Huang-Huai-Hai Plain of eastern China from 1990 to 2020, covering their life cycle from formation to extinction.

Address forms, as crucial linguistic cues, have shown notable progress in advancing research on interpersonal relationships; however, a comprehensive understanding of the dynamics in interpersonal (or human-machine) relationships among interactors remains elusive. Therefore, based on Social Identity Theory, this paper explores the interactive effects and underlying mechanisms of affectionate nicknames and streamer type on streamer attitude in E-commerce live streaming, with consumers' perceptions of psychological closeness serving as the mediating mechanism.

Evolutionary game of international trade network based on trade policy differences.

Trade policy differences among different countries are important factors affecting international trade cooperation. In this paper, we build an evolutionary game model of international trade in which complex networks portray game relationships and trade policy differences are game strategies of players. Compared with the fully coupled game relationship and two-strategies game, the game relationship dynamic adjustment, trade policy differences and stochastic game payoffs in this paper are more in line with the real international trade context.
