Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate histometrically bone healing in surgically created dehiscence-type defects around titanium implants treated with an association of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and guided bone regeneration (GBR).
Materials And Methods: Ten male adult mongrel dogs were used, from which the three low premolars (P2, P3, P4) and the first molar were extracted. Three months after teeth extraction, two implant sites were bilaterally drilled, buccal bone dehiscences were created and four titanium implants were placed.

The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the influence of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) on bone regeneration in dehiscence-type bone defects around dental implants. Ten male adult mongrel dogs were used. Three months after teeth extractions, an osteotomie for implantation and a buccal dehiscence defect were prepared on both sides of the jaws.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of cementum removal on periodontal repair.
Material And Methods: Forty subjects with chronic periodontitis and presenting, at least, two proximal sites in anterior teeth (upper or lower) with probing depth > or =5 mm were selected. After oral hygiene instructions and ultrasonic supragingival instrumentation, the subjects were randomly assigned for one of the following groups: CIC, scaled with Gracey curettes; CIUS, scaled with ultrasonic device; CDC, calculus deattachment with Gracey curettes and brushing with saline solution; and CDUS, calculus deattachment with ultrasonic device and brushing with saline solution.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to clinically detect the immediate effect of root instrumentation with curettes and ultrasonic scalers on clinical attachment level.
Material And Methods: Twelve subjects with moderate chronic periodontitis, presenting probing depths of 3.5-6.

Background: Anti-inflammatory agents have been reported as a bone loss mediator in periodontitis. This study aimed to investigate in rats the impact of a selective cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitor (meloxicam) on bone loss in ligature-induced periodontitis and its post-treatment effect after administration withdrawal.
Methods: Seventy-five adult male Wistar rats were included.

Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of the association of locally delivered doxycycline 10% and scaling and root planing in the subgingival plaque of smokers.
Methods: Sixteen smokers with chronic periodontitis and a minimum of four pockets (> or = 5 mm) on anterior teeth that bled on probing were selected. Patients were randomly assigned to one of the following groups: scaling and root planing (SRP) or scaling and root planing followed by local application of doxycycline (SRP-D).
