Immunological aging is a critical event that causes serious functional impairment in the innate immune system. However, the identification markers and parameters are still poorly understood in immunological aging of myeloid lineage cells. Here, we show that a downregulation of lymphocyte antigen 6 complex locus G6D (Ly-6G) observed in aged mouse neutrophils could serve as a novel marker for the prediction of age-associated functional impairment in the neutrophils.

Introduction: Adipose-derived stem cells (ASCs) secrete various growth factors to promote wound healing and to regenerate various tissues, such as bone, cartilage, and fat tissue. Subcutaneous adipose tissue is a considerable cell source in clinical practice and can be collected relatively easily and safely under local anesthesia. Moreover, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), a plasma component containing many platelets purified by centrifuging the collected blood, also promotes wound healing.

Article Synopsis
  • Salivary glands can act as reservoirs for viruses, including SARS-CoV-2, but the infection mechanisms in these glands are not well understood due to a lack of suitable models.
  • Researchers have successfully created human induced salivary glands (hiSGs) from human induced pluripotent stem cells, which can be infected with SARS-CoV-2 and mimic the properties of real salivary glands.
  • The study confirms that these hiSGs can be transplanted into mice and show mature features, making them a valuable tool for studying the role of salivary glands in virus infections and transmission, particularly in asymptomatic individuals.

Becker muscular dystrophy (BMD) is a hereditary disease characterized by dystrophin deletion that consequently induces muscle weakness, cardiac hypertrophy and cardiac failure; These conditions are similar to those in Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The circadian rhythm is a physiological phenomenon that is predominantly regulated by the transcription and translation of clock genes. Bmal1 (Brain and muscle Arnt-like protein 1) is one of the core clock genes, and its deficiency disturbs the circadian rhythm, results in cardiac hypertrophy and cardiac failure.
