Pipeline embolization device for aneurysm recurrence after stent-assisted coiling.

Neuroradiology

January 2025

Department of Neurosurgery, Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital, School of Clinical Medicine, Tsinghua University, Litang Road 168, Beijing, 102218, China.

Objective: Since the emergence of the Pipeline Embolization Device (PED), its off-label use has significantly improved the treatment effectiveness of complex intracranial aneurysms, including the treatment of recurrent aneurysms. Although PED is effective in this situation, there is still a lack of evidence-based medicine for its role in recurrent aneurysms after stent-assisted coiling. The aim of this study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of PED treatment for recurrent aneurysms after stent-assisted coiling.

Background: The optimal extent of lymph node resection for early-stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remains a topic of debate in the medical community. We aimed to assess the surgical and prognostic outcomes based on the extent of mediastinal lymph node dissection (MLND) for resectable clinical stage IA NSCLC.

Methods: From 2016 to 2018, 1,166 patients with clinical stage IA NSCLC who underwent lobectomy or segmentectomy with complete mediastinal lymph node dissection (C-MLND) or selective mediastinal lymph node dissection (S-MLND) at five hospitals were enrolled.

Background: The effectiveness of neoadjuvant immunochemotherapy (NAIC) in locally advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) remains unclear. This study aims to validate the relation between early alterations in neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and clinical outcomes among individuals diagnosed with locally advanced ESCC undergoing NAIC.

Methods: We retrospectively enrolled a cohort of ESCC patients who underwent NAIC at least 1 cycle between May 2020 and October 2021 at Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital.

Background: Endometriosis, a prevalent chronic gynecological condition, is frequently associated with infertility and pelvic pain. Despite numerous studies indicating a correlation between epigenetic regulation and endometriosis, its precise genetic etiology remains elusive. Methyltransferase-like 14 (METTL14), a crucial component of the N6-methyladenosine (mA) RNA methyltransferase complex and an RNA binding scaffold, is known to play a pivotal role in various human diseases.

Validation of T stage classification strategy for >2 cm ground-glass opacity non-small cell lung cancer: a retrospective cohort study.

Transl Lung Cancer Res

December 2024

Department of Thoracic Surgery and Institute of Thoracic Oncology, West China Hospital, Sichuan University, Chengdu, China.

Background: The Lung Cancer Staging Program of the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) has proposed using solid component size, rather than overall tumor size, for T-staging. However, studies focusing on patients with ground-glass opacity (GGO) lesions with a diameter larger than 2 cm are limited. This study aims to validate the T stage classification strategy recommended by IASLC in this specific and less-studied patient group.

Background: Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) constitutes the prevailing manifestation of arthritis. Radiographs function as a common modality for primary screening; however, traditional X-ray evaluation of osteoarthritis confronts challenges such as reduced sensitivity, subjective interpretation, and heightened misdiagnosis rates. The objective of this investigation is to enhance the validation and optimization of accuracy and efficiency in KOA assessment by utilizing fusion deep learning techniques.

Antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) combining monoclonal antibodies with cytotoxic payloads are a rapidly emerging class of immune-based therapeutics with the potential to improve the treatment of cancer, including children with relapse/refractory acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). CD123, the α subunit of the interleukin-3 receptor, is overexpressed in ALL and is a potential therapeutic target. Here, we show that pivekimab sunirine (PVEK), a recently developed ADC comprising the CD123-targeting antibody, G4723A, and the cytotoxic payload, DGN549, was highly effective in vivo against a large panel of pediatric ALL patient-derived xenograft (PDX) models ( = 39).

Background: Stroke is a significant cerebrovascular disease and remains one of the leading causes of death and disability worldwide. Insulin resistance has been strongly linked to the incidence of stroke. Employing characteristics of metabolic syndrome, the Metabolic Score for Insulin Resistance (METS-IR) accurately measures insulin resistance.

Aim: Attenuated insulin-sensitivity (IS) is a characteristic of type 2 diabetes (T2D) and is closely linked to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). In recent years, many surrogate markers of IS have emerged to predict NAFLD. A natural log transformation of the glucose disposal rate (log GDR) has been proposed as a new model for IS in patients with T2D.

Modification-specific Proteomic Analysis Reveals Cysteine S-Palmitoylation Involved in Esophageal Cancer Cell Radiation.

ACS Omega

January 2025

Department of Oncology, The Affiliated Taizhou People's Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, Taizhou School of Clinical Medicine, Nanjing Medical University, Taizhou 225300, China.

This study aimed to investigate the effects of radiation (RT) on protein and protein S-palmitoylation levels in esophageal cancer (EC) cell lines. EC cells ( = 6) were randomly divided into RT and negative control. The results revealed that 592 proteins were identified in the RT group, including 326 upregulation proteins and 266 downregulation proteins.

Chemotherapy is an effective treatment for gastric cancer. However, many patients develop resistance to chemotherapeutic agents during clinical treatment. LncRNA CCAT1 has recently been shown to influence cellular resistance to specific chemotherapeutic drugs, but its role in gastric cancer remains underexplored.

To evaluate the bioequivalence and safety of oral rivaroxaban tablets between a test formulation and a reference formulation in healthy Chinese subjects, a randomized, open, 2-formulation, 4-cycle, complete repeat crossover study was conducted under both fasting and fed states. Thirty-six healthy participants were enrolled separately for the fasting and fed groups, and each subject received a single oral dose of 20 mg of the test or reference formulation of rivaroxaban tablets per cycle. Blood samples were collected at specified intervals, and rivaroxaban was analyzed using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry.
