The aim of the study was to determine the test-retest reliability of MMN and LDN recorded to simple speech contrasts in children with listening difficulties. MMN and LDN responses were recorded from Fz and Cz electrodes for a /da/-/ga/ contrast twice within a 10-day period. To extract MMN and LDN, auditory-evoked responses to /ga/ stimuli presented alone were subtracted from the responses to /ga/ presented within an oddball sequence.

A one-pot process involving cycloaddition of the azaoxyallyl cation with thioamide and a synchronous E1-type elimination of the C2 amino group from the cycloadduct is disclosed, leading to diverse alkylidene-4-thiazolidinones. Amine elimination under acid-free conditions or without quaternization and forging a stereoselective olefin formation were among the interesting reactivity traits revealed through the present work. Conjugated thioamide permitted side-chain branching through a three-component process.

Here,we disclose a halogen α-nucleophilic addition via photocatalytic oxidation of the in-situ generated α-carbonyl radical of amides or esters to corresponding α-carbonyl cation. The α-carbon radical is generated by the β-addition of difluoroalkyl radical, formed by the photocatalytic reduction of BrCF2CO2R, to the α,β-unsaturated amides/esters. This umpolung strategy enables an efficient three-component difluoroalkyl-halogenation of α,β-unsaturated amides or esters with BrCF2CO2R and Cl/F-nucleophiles to produce diverse biologically important CF2-containing α-halo-1,5-dicarboxylic derivatives under mild conditions.

Ligand-to-Ligand Charge Transfer Induced Red-Shifted Room Temperature Phosphorescence in Metal-Organic Frameworks.

J Am Chem Soc

March 2025

Department of Chemistry, and the Hong Kong Branch of Chinese National Engineering Research Center for Tissue Restoration and Reconstruction, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Clear Water Bay, Kowloon, Hong Kong 999077, PR China.

Research on room temperature phosphorescence (RTP) of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) has been rapidly developed in recent years. However, it is still challenging to realize long-wavelength RTP (>580 nm). In this article, a new strategy is proposed to achieve the red-shifted RTP through constructing dual-ligand MOFs.

The detailed mechanism of photoinduced decarboxylative radical addition to alkenes using both the effect of an electron donor (ED)/electron acceptor (EA) and laser flash photolysis in a two-molecule photoredox system was investigated. The concentration of EA played an important role in the photoreaction and could be controlled by varying the concentrations of ED/EA and their identity, which influenced Δ. Higher concentrations of ED/EA and a larger negative Δ led to a higher concentration of EA, thereby increasing the yield of the adduct; however, the large negative Δ for the generation of the EDA complex hindered decarboxylation.

Deep-Learning-Assisted Understanding of the Self-Assembly of Miktoarm Star Block Copolymers.

ACS Nano

March 2025

School of Chemical Science and Engineering, Tongji University, 1239 Siping Road, Shanghai 200092, China.

The self-assemblies of topological complex block copolymers, especially the AB type miktoarm star ones, are fascinating topics in the soft matter field, which represent typical self-assembly behaviors analogous to those of biological membranes. However, their diverse topological asymmetries and versatile spontaneous curvatures result in rather complex phase separations that deviate significantly from the common mechanisms. Thus, numerous trial-and-error experiments with tremendous parameter space and intricate relationships are needed to study their assemblies.

In situ global mapping of protein perturbations via protein abundance and conformation analysis.

Anal Chim Acta

May 2025

State Key Laboratory of Natural Medicines, China Pharmaceutical University, No. 639 Longmian Dadao, Nanjing, 211198, China. Electronic address:

Background: Traditional studies of protein responses to external stimuli primarily focus on changes in protein abundance, often overlooking the critical role of protein conformational alterations. To address this gap, we developed Protein Abundance and Conformation Analysis (PACA), an integrative method that quantifies both protein abundance and conformational changes. PACA combines conventional quantitative proteomics for abundance measurements with Target Response Accessibility Profiling (TRAP), a technique that captures conformational changes in situ by applying reductive dimethylation to label accessible lysine residues in living cells before lysis.

Background: Immunomagnetic separation is essential for screening pathogenic bacteria to prevent food poisoning. However, free immunomagnetic nanobeads (IMNBs) coexist with IMNB-bacteria conjugates (IBCs) after traditional immunomagnetic separation resulting in the infeasibility for IMNBs on IBCs to further act as signal label in bacterial detection. Although we have demonstrated that magnetophoretic separation at a high flowrate could separate IBCs from IMNBs, partial IMNBs were still found with IBCs due to chaotic flows and resulted in inevitable interferences.

Background: Creatinine is a small molecule disease biomarker that reflects kidney function, accurate and effective detection of creatinine will play an important role in the prevention and treatment of diseases. Currently, commonly used creatinine detection methods are limited by expensive instruments, complex sample preparation, many interference factors from biological samples, and environmental factors that can affect the accuracy of the measurement. Therefore, developing a fast, simple, inexpensive, sensitive analysis method that can eliminate background interference and provide multi-detection modes has strong attraction and value.

Due to bleomycin's cytotoxic characteristics, which include cardiotoxicity, this investigation looked at the effectiveness of costus ethanolic extract in reducing cardiotoxicity in male rats receiving bleomycin therapy. Forty adult male rats (160-200 g) were evenly allocated into four groups: group (1) included normal rats serving as the control; group (2) included normal rats administered 200 mg/kg of costus ethanolic extract (CEE) orally for 6 weeks; group (3) consisted of rats receiving bleomycin (15 mg/kg twice weekly, ip) for 6 weeks; and group (4) involved rats treated orally with CEE (200 mg/kg/day) for 6 weeks following bleomycin intoxication. The results indicated that the CEE significantly reversed the cardiological deteriorations brought on by bleomycin; this was demonstrated by a considerable increase in cardiac SOD, GPx, GSH, and CAT, along with a substantial decrease in cardiac MDA, NO, and DNA fragmentation.

Focus of this study is on the use of the hydrazone compound (3) (N-(4-bromobenzylidene)-4-(1H-indol-3-yl) butane hydrazide), which was previously prepared from the reaction of the compound p-bromobenzaldehyde with the corresponding hydrazide (2), as an intermediate compound for the synthesis of azetidine, thiazolidine, tetrazole, oxadiazole and phthalazine heterocyclic compounds through its reaction with some cyclic reagents and catalysts such as chloro acetyl chloride, thioglycolic acid, sodium-azid, lead dioxide and Hydrogen chloride gas. The prepared compounds were characterized using physical properties and also spectroscopic methods such as infrared spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance spectra of the proton and the isotope of carbon as well as mass spectrometry, which accurately identified the proposed structures of the prepared compounds. The identity of the prepared compounds was determined using physical and spectroscopic properties, where infrared and HNMR spectroscopy of the proton as well as carbon were used in addition to using mass spectrometry to verify the validity of the prepared structures.
