Wastewater treatment carried out by microalgae is usually affected by the type of algal strain and the combination of cultivation parameters provided during the process. Every microalga strain has a different tolerance level towards cultivation parameters, including temperature, pH, light intensity, CO content, initial inoculum level, pretreatment method, reactor type and nutrient concentration in wastewater. Therefore, it is vital to supply the right combination of cultivation parameters to increase the wastewater treatment efficiency and biomass productivity of different microalgae classes.

The definition for autophagy holds a 'single' meaning as a conserved cellular process that constitutes a recycling pathway for damaged organelles and long-lived proteins to maintain nutrient homeostasis and mediate quality control within the cell. But this process of autophagy may behave ambiguously depending on the physiological stress as the stress progresses in the cellular microenvironment; the 'single' meaning of the autophagy changes from the 'cytoplasmic turnover process' to 'tumor suppressive' and a farther extent, 'tumor promoter' process. In a tumorigenic state, the chemotherapy-mediated resistance and intolerance due to upregulated autophagy in cancer cells have become a significant concern.

Tuberculosis is a major infectious disease that is responsible for high mortality in humans. The reason for the global burden is the emergence of new antibiotic resistant strains of Mycobacteria that showed resistance against the currently given therapy. It is identified that the pathogen utilizes the L-asparaginase enzyme as a virulence factor for survival benefits inside the host.

The expansion of weed infestation has increased the demand on new herbicides. A series of novel galactosyl moiety-conjugated furylchalcones was facilely synthesized in which the furyl group (A ring) was combined with the substituted benzene group (B ring), and a galactosyl moiety was introduced. All these galactosyl furylchalcones were predicted to be phloem-mobile.

Glycosylation is a critical quality attribute of monoclonal antibody (mAb) therapeutics. Hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (HILIC-MS) is an invaluable technology for the characterization of protein glycosylation. HILIC/MS-based glycan analysis relies on the library search using Glucose Units (GU) and accurate mass (AM) as the primary search parameters for identification.

Over the past decades, various attempts have been made to develop suitable tissue-engineered constructs to repair or regenerate the damaged or diseased articular cartilage. In the present study, we embedded Platelet rich plasma (PRP)/Sodium Alginate (SA) based hydrogel in porous 3D scaffold of chitosan (CH)/chondroitin sulfate (CS)/silk fibroin (SF) to develop hybrid scaffold for cartilage tissue construct generation with abilities to support shape recovery potential, facilitate uniform cells distribution and mimic gel like cartilage tissue extracellular matrix. The developed hybrid matrix shows suitable pore size (55-261 μm), porosity (77 ± 4.

Electrospun polyacrylonitrile (PAN) nanofiber membrane was functionalized with chitosan and proteins for use in the treatment of dye-containing wastewater. The PAN nanofiber membrane was subjected to alkaline hydrolysis, before being grafted with chitosan and subsequently the proteins from chicken egg white. The resultant nanofiber membrane (P-COOH-CS-CEW) was comprehensively characterized using thermogravimetric analysis, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy.

Wound healing is a complex, highly regulated process that is important in sustaining the skin barrier function. The etiologic relation of specific metals is not adequately described for chronic non-healing wounds. The aim of this study was to estimate heavy and trace metals in chronic non-healing wound and their association with wound healing The levels of zinc, selenium, copper, magnesium, chromium, cadmium, iron, and lead were estimated in serum of chronic non-healing wound patients using atomic absorption spectrophotometry.

The polyacrylonitrile (PAN) nanofiber membrane was prepared by the electrospinning technique. The nitrile group on the PAN nanofiber surface was oxidized to carboxyl group by alkaline hydrolysis. The carboxylic group on the membrane surface was then converted to dye affinity membrane through reaction with ethylenediamine (EDA) and Cibacron Blue F3GA, sequentially.

The world is looking for alternative energy resources because of the depletion of fossil fuel reservoirs like crude oil, coal, and natural gases in the next few decades. In this aspect, unutilized coal waste and sustainable biomass are considered major energy contributors to convert biomass blended coal fines as high-quality solid briquettes. The present study integrates different briquette processing technologies to develop, coal-biomass-binder, coal-biomass (binderless), coal-binder, and carbonized biomass-binder composites.

Pichia pastoris is one of the most widely used host for the production of recombinant proteins. Expression systems that rely mostly on promoters from genes encoding alcohol oxidase 1 or glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase have been developed together with related bioreactor operation strategies based on carbon sources such as methanol, glycerol, or glucose. Although, these processes are relatively efficient and easy to use, there have been notable improvements over the last twenty years to better control gene expression from these promoters and their engineered variants.

Water quality assessment relies mostly on physico-chemical-based characterization; however, eutrophication and climate change advocate the abundance of toxic microcystins (MCs) producing cyanobacteria as emerging bio-indicator. In the present study, a spatial-temporal analysis was carried out at ten sampling sites of Prayagraj and Varanasi during June 2017 and March 2018 to determine the Ganga River water quality using physico-chemical parameters, cyanobacteria diversity, detection of MCs producing strains and MC-LR equivalence. Coliform bacteria, COD, NO-N, and phosphate are the significant contaminated parameters favoring the growth of putative MCs producing cyanobacteria.
