Contaminant transport in a soil formation is described by advection dispersion equation. In this study, a horizontal and transversal contaminant transport along transient groundwater flow under non-linear sorption is solved numerically to examine the contaminant distribution profiles in finite soil media. The horizontal and transversal pore-water seepage velocities are defined as varying exponentially with time.

Here, we report functionalized graphene quantum dots (GQDs) for the optical detection of arsenic at room temperature. GQDs with the fluorescence of three fundamental colors (red, green, and blue) were synthesized and functionally capped with L-cysteine (L-cys) to impart selectively towards As (III) by exploiting the affinity of L-cys towards arsenite. The optical characterization of GQDs was carried out using UV-vis absorption spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and fluorescence spectrometry, and the structural characterizations were performed using transmission electron microscopy.

This article measured the performance of 32 states and union territories (UTs) of India against COVID-19 disease using efficiency score which was calculated by data envelopment analysis (DEA) and compared the efficiency score with the different models which are used in many articles to evaluate the efficiency of healthcare system. Here the input parameters are taken as public health expenditure in a million, number of hospitals, number of hospital beds, percentage of health workers, population density, and number of infected, and output parameters divided into good and bad categories such as the number of recovered are taken as good output. The number of death is taken as bad outputs.

Unlabelled: The stemness property of cells allows them to sustain their lineage, differentiation, proliferation, and regeneration. MicroRNAs are small non-coding RNAs known to regulate the stemness property of cells by regulating the expression of stem cell signaling pathway proteins at mRNA level. Dysregulated miRNA expression and associated stem cell signaling pathways in normal stem cells give rise to cancer stem cells.

In this paper, a compartmental model is proposed to study the dynamics of COVID-19 pandemic caused by the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 and the role of media in controlling this ongoing infection. Model includes implementation of media awareness as a control measure to mitigate the spread of the disease. In the proposed model, we have divided the total human population into four sub-classes, namely susceptibles, asymtomatic infectives, aware susceptibles and symptomatic infectives (or Isolated infectives which are under treatment/hospitalized) incorporating classes representing cumulative density of virus and media alert.

New candidates of imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine were designed by combining 2-amino pyridine, TOSMIC and various assorted aldehydes to explore their antioxidant and antifungal potential. The design of these derivatives was based on utilizing the antifungal potential of azoles and TOSMIC moiety. These derivatives were synthesized by adopting multi-component reaction methodology, as it serves as a rapid and efficient tool to target structurally diverse heterocyclic compounds in quantitative yield.

Background: The development of persistent endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress is one of the cornerstones of prostate carcinogenesis; however, the mechanism is missing. Also, alcohol is a physiological ER stress inducer, and the link between alcoholism and progression of prostate cancer (PCa) is well documented but not well characterized. According to the canonical model, the mediator of ER stress, ATF6, is cleaved sequentially in the Golgi by S1P and S2P proteases; thereafter, the genes responsible for unfolded protein response (UPR) undergo transactivation.

The current work mainly focuses on the innovative nature of nano-gallium-substituted hydroxyapatite (nGa-HAp)/ fiber extract (PDFE)/poly(-vinylcarbazole) (PVK) biocomposite coating on titanium (Ti) metal in an eco-friendly and low-cost way through electrophoretic deposition for metallic implant applications. Detailed analysis of this nGa-HAp/PDFE/PVK biocomposite coating revealed many encouraging functional properties like structure and uniformity of the coating. Furthermore, gallium and fruit extract of PDFE-incorporated biocomposite enhance the antimicrobial, cell viability, and bioactivity studies.

Reproduction in mammals is favoured when there is sufficient energy available to permit the survival of offspring. Neuronal nitric oxide synthase expressing neurons produce nitric oxide in the proximity of the gonadotropin-releasing hormone neurons in the preoptic region. nNOS neurons are an integral part of the neuronal network controlling ovarian cyclicity and ovulation.

Swift heavy ions (SHI) irradiation of Nickel (Ni) beam with different ions fluence bring the modifications in the functional properties of radio frequency (RF) grown zirconium oxide (ZrO) nanocrystalline thin films. X-ray diffraction analysis affirms the monoclinic to tetragonal phase transformation and diminishing of peak at higher fluence 1 × 10 and 2 × 10 ions/cm induced by electronic excitation caused by SHI. Zirconium oxide thin films exhibit the same thickness (195 nm) of virgin and irradiated samples and whereas the nanocrystalline thin films have the elemental composition in proper stoichiometry (1:2) as analyzed by rutherford backscattering spectroscopy (RBS).

In this contribution, we report the fabrication of multifunctional nanoparticles with gold shell over an iron oxide nanoparticles (INPs) core. The fabricated system combines the magnetic property of INPs and the surface plasmon resonance of gold. The developed nanoparticles are coated with thiolated pectin (TPGINs), which provides stability to the nanoparticles dispersion and allows the loading of hydrophobic anticancer drugs.

In this study, our aim is to explore the dynamics of COVID-19 or 2019-nCOV in Argentina considering the parameter values based on the real data of this virus from 03, 2020 to 29, 2021 which is a data range of more than one complete year. We propose a Atangana-Baleanu type fractional-order model and simulate it by using predictor-corrector (P-C) method. First we introduce the biological nature of this virus in theoretical way and then formulate a mathematical model to define its dynamics.

The molecular structure, UV-visible spectra, and optical properties of D-π-A conjugated organic dye molecules (Disperse Red 1 (DR1) and Disperse Red 73 (DR73)) were analyzed using density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) and compared with azobenzene molecule to study the effect of donor and acceptor substituents on the molecular properties. The performance of DFT functionals is investigated using B3LYP hybrid functional and three long-range corrected functionals (CAM-B3LYP, LC-ω PBE, and ω B97XD) in conjunction with 6-31G(d,p) basis set. Using TD-DFT, we calculate the vertical excitation energies and transition dipole moment values for 100 excited states.

Researchers around the globe have witnessed several breakthroughs in s- and p-block metal chemistry. Over the past few years, several applications in catalysis associated with these main group metals have been established, and owing to their abundance and low cost and they have proved to be essential alternatives to transition metal catalysts. In this review, we present a detailed discussion on the catalytic addition of P-H bonds from various phosphine reagents to multiple bonds of unsaturated substrates for the synthesis of organophosphorus compounds with C-P bonds promoted by various s- and p-block metal catalysts, as published in the last decade.

Unlike mammals, two kisspeptins genes encoding, kiss1 and kiss2 are detected in fishes with highly varied and contradictory difference in their reproductive activities. The present study was undertaken to examine the direct action of kisspeptin-10 and its role in gonadal activities in the gonadally quiescent Asian catfish using native mammalian kisspeptin decapeptide (KP-10) involving in vivo and in vitro approaches. The in vivo KP-10 treatment caused precocious onset of gametogenesis and its rapid progression, as was evident from the appearance of advanced stages of ovarian follicles in ovary, and advanced germ cells (spermatocytes/ spermatids) in the testis of the treated Clarias batrachus in comparison to the control gonads.
