Climate emergency requires urgent actions to reduce carbon emissions. In this paper we calculate the countries' carbon upstreamness and evaluate its linkage to the presence of foreign MNE affiliates, by using a multiregional input-output model with firm heterogeneity. We find a mismatch between carbon upstreamness, emissions reduction targets and income per capita between countries.

The proliferation of feral domestic animals (FDAs) has been favored by human-induced landscape changes, a world population becoming increasingly urban, and by inappropriate management of domestic animals. Here, we describe the impact of FDAs and the opposing views in societies that affect the decision-making process and management actions. We provide general recommendations for the participatory management of this emerging threat to biodiversity and rural ecosystems.

Porcine circovirus 2 (PCV2) is a major etiological agent for porcine circovirus-associated diseases and causes enormous economic losses in domestic and overseas swine production. However, there are currently no suitable cell models to study the cytopathic effects (CPE) of PCV2 , which severely restricts the study of PCV2 pathogenesis. In the present study, we established an immortalized porcine oral mucosal epithelial cell line (hTERT-POMEC) by introducing the hTERT gene into primary porcine oral mucosal epithelial cells (POMECs) derived from a neonatal, unsuckled piglet.

Dogs were first domesticated 31 000-41 000 years ago. Humanity has experienced ecological costs and benefits from interactions with dogs and wolves. We propose that humans inherited a dual response of attraction or aversion that expresses itself independently to domestic and wild canids.
