Primary cardiac tumors are a rare disease, with 20% of the cases being malignant. Among them, angiosarcoma is characterized by a short clinical course and poor prognosis, even after surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. We present a 67-year-old woman diagnosed with a primary malignant tumor (angiosarcoma) infiltrating the right atrial myocardium.

Background: Pericardial cysts are rare and represent the third most common cystic mass of the mediastinum. The majority are asymptomatic and detected as incidental findings; however, they can be symptomatic and associated with life-threatening complications such as bronchial compression, congestive heart failure, cardiac tamponade, or even sudden death.

Case Summary: We present a rare case of a haemorrhagic pericardial cyst with subtotal compression of the right side of the heart.

Great cardiac vein injury after circumflex artery intervention: a case report.

Eur Heart J Case Rep

August 2023

Cardiology Department, Interventional Cardiology, Schleswig-Holstein University Hospital-Kiel, Arnold-Heller-Street 3, 24105 Kiel, Germany.

Background: Injury of the great cardiac vein (GCV) during circumflex coronary artery intervention is not discussed enough in the literature. In addition, relationship between the GCV and circumflex artery is highly variable and practically unpredictable in 30% of cases. This report describes a rare case of GCV injury during circumflex artery intervention.

Aims: Endosonography (EUS) is the diagnostic tool with the highest resolution for the local staging of gastrointestinal tumours and, due to the detailed visualization of the wall layers, is recommended in current guidelines for cancer management. In addition, an endoscope has an ultrasound tip design and balloon insufflation control design, and a 120° bending mechanism to deflect the endoscope tip. These advantages could be beneficial and valuable while investigating the cardiovascular structures during routine gastrointestinal procedures using this diagnostic tool.

A novel algorithm for 3-D visualization of electrogram duration for substrate-mapping in patients with ischemic heart disease and ventricular tachycardia.

Department of Cardiology, Angiology and Intensive Care, EVK Düsseldorf, cNEP, cardiac Neuro- and Electrophysiology Research Consortium, Düsseldorf, Germany.

Background: Myocardial slow conduction is a cornerstone of ventricular tachycardia (VT). Prolonged electrogram (EGM) duration is a useful surrogate parameter and manual annotation of EGM characteristics are widely used during catheter-based ablation of the arrhythmogenic substrate. However, this remains time-consuming and prone to inter-operator variability.
