Introduction: Antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) trastuzumab-deruxtecan (T-DXd) and sacituzumab-govitecan (SG) provided significant progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) improvements over chemotherapy (CT) in pretreated hormone receptor-positive (HR+) and triple-negative (TN)/HER2-low metastatic breast cancer (MBC). However, no direct comparison between the two exists, nor with the more recent datopotamab-deruxtecan (Dato-DXd).
Methods: We conducted a network meta-analysis (NMA) to compare efficacy and safety of T-DXd and SG in CT-pretreated HR+ and TN/HER2-low MBC and assess their benefit over standard CT, exploring also a comparison with Dato-DXd.

Podophyllotoxin (PPT) is a lignan isolated from the traditional Chinese medicine Dysosma Versipellis, with significant anti-tumor activity. However, its cardiotoxicity restricts its clinical application. This study aims to investigate the cardiotoxicity of PPT in mice and its underlying mechanisms based on the concept of toxicological evidence chain (TEC).

Increasing life expectancy and an aging population have preserved quality of life decisions into older adulthood, defined by some clinical standards as greater than 75 years of age. While teprotumumab may represent a breakthrough in the treatment of thyroid eye disease, the teprotumumab phase III trial included only 2 patients aged over 75. Four female patients between the ages of 78 and 86-of whom 3 completed 8 infusions and 1 completed 7 infusions before discontinuation-were included in our study with a mean initial Clinical Activity Score score of 5.

In this review, we discuss recent developments in our understanding of frontal fibrosing alopecia, a disease that has become increasingly common and widespread since its first description in 1994. An inherited predisposition to frontal fibrosing alopecia, previously suspected from the occurrence of familial cases, has been confirmed through genetic studies. Nevertheless, the epidemiology continues to implicate environmental factors in the aetiology.

Although genetic, environmental, autoimmune, and psychological factors are believed to play a role in the onset of alopecia areata (AA), the exact cause remains unknown. This study aimed to investigate whether there are differences in traumatic experiences, dissociative symptoms, and alexithymia levels between groups. Fifty eight patients diagnosed with AA, 58 individuals with dermatological diseases thought to have a low psychosomatic component, and 58 individuals not diagnosed with any chronic disease were included in the study.

Objectives: To perform a budget impact analysis (BIA) of the adoption of baricitinib for the management of alopecia areata (AA) by a Saudi public sector payer.
Methods: A BIA model was developed to calculate the expected financial impact under two scenarios: the baseline scenario, which reflects the current mix of treatments without baricitinib, and the projected scenario, in which baricitinib is adopted. The model assumed that patients with severe AA and those with mild-to-moderate AA who did not respond to other treatments were eligible for baricitinib treatment.

Background: Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) derived from bone marrow play an increasingly important role in regenerative medicine due to their capacity to promote tissue regeneration in various clinical contexts. Applications include the treatment of osteoarthritis, bone regeneration post-injury, and the management of conditions such as Crohn's disease, alopecia, and nervous system reconstruction. Accurate quantification of MSCs within Bone Marrow Concentrates (BMCs) is essential for ensuring the quality and efficacy of these cell therapy products in clinical settings.

Background: Scalp hair plays a crucial role in social communication by expressing personal appearance and self-identity. Consequently, hair loss often leads to a perception of unattractiveness, negatively impacting an individual's life and mental health. Currently, the use of Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved drugs for hair loss is associated with several side effects, highlighting the need for identifying new drug candidates, such as plant-derived phytochemicals, to overcome these issues.

Introduction: Alopecia areata (AA) is a non-scarring autoimmune disease characterized by patchy hair loss. The aim of this study was to validate a novel trichoscopic scoring tool, the Severity TRichoscopy Index for Alopecia Areata (STRIAA), for rapid assessment of AA severity.
Methods: Anonymized images from 340 patients were scored by two independent raters who analyzed four scalp areas (vertex, occipital, and left and right parietal) for trichoscopic signs: black dots, yellow dots, exclamation mark hairs, broken hairs, and short vellus hairs.

Silica nanoparticles-embedded smart-gels are efficient drug carrier systems due to their structural flexibility, high porosity, and ease of formulation development. Herein, the extent of interaction of minoxidil (MXD), a potent vasodilator prodrug, with silica nanoparticles (SiNPs) and alginate (ALG) was investigated. The SiNPs were prepared by extracting silica from rice husk ash, and these SiNPs were further used to prepare MXD-loaded-SiNPs (MXD-SiNPs) by loading them with an appropriate amount of MXD.

Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is a prevalent hair loss disorder and influenced by genetic, hormonal, and environmental factors. Minoxidil and finasteride have been widely used for treating AGA. However, the side effects associated with these drugs often lead to poor patient compliance.

Background & Objective: FFA usually has a gradual subtle course and might be overlooked by physicians or misdiagnosed with other types of hair loss including androgenetic alopecia, traction alopecia, and other types of patterned alopecia. In this study, we described clinicopathological features of patients with FFA referring for skin biopsy.
Methods: This is a retrospective cross-sectional study on 26 patients with a diagnosis of FFA based on clinicopathological features.

This prospective, two-cohort phase 2 trial with random allocation was conducted to evaluate the safety and efficacy of neoadjuvant tislelizumab combined with nab-paclitaxel/paclitaxel and cisplatin (TP) in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Patients were enrolled and randomly assigned to the nab-paclitaxel or paclitaxel cohorts at a 1:1 ratio, and received intravenous tislelizumab (200 mg, day 1) combined with cisplatin (25 mg/m, days 1-3) and either nab-paclitaxel (125 mg/m, days 1 and 8) or paclitaxel (150 mg/m, day 1) in a 21-day cycle for two cycles before surgery. The primary endpoint was the major pathological response (MPR) rate.

All types of alopecia, including androgenetic alopecia, alopecia areata, and lichen planopilaris/frontal fibrosing alopecia, affect over half of men and women. Though a common dermatological experience, many patients with visible hair loss report significant psychological and social distress and, consequently seek treatment. Current existing therapeutic regimens have proven to be efficacious, though may result in various adverse effects and require lifelong use.

The increasing presence of drugs in the environment has triggered a pollution crisis on a global scale, generating concern about their ecotoxicological effects on ecosystems. In this context, minoxidil, a vasodilator drug widely used in the treatment of androgenic alopecia, has been scarcely investigated in plant systems. Therefore, this study evaluated the morphological and cytotoxic effects of minoxidil on Phaseolus vulgaris L as a bioindicator.
