Article Synopsis
  • The study introduces a new sensor made from a combination of zinc oxide and cobalt oxide (ZnO/CoO) designed for detecting levodopa, a medication used for Parkinson's disease.
  • This sensor, modified with a specific type of screen-printed electrode, shows clear and enhanced signals for levodopa in a phosphate buffer solution at a pH of 6.0, making it effective for measurements.
  • Using a technique called differential pulse voltammetry, the sensor demonstrated a wide detection range (0.001-800.0 μM) and a very low limit of detection (0.81 nM), while also being unaffected by the presence of other substances, indicating high selectivity in real sample analysis.

In this study, aqueous, ethanol, methanol, and hexane extracts from Iraqi Kurdistan Region Daphne mucronata were prepared due to the numerous applications and development of nanofibers in biological and medical fields, including food packaging, enzyme stabilization, and wound dressing. In the initial evaluation of the extracts, the antioxidant properties against DPPH, antimicrobial properties against 3-gram-positive bacterial species, 3-gram negative bacterial species, 3-common bacterial species between aquatic and human, and 3-fungal species, and anticancer properties against breast cancer cells were performed. The results proved that the methanol extract has the highest antimicrobial, antifungal, antioxidant, and anticancer properties.

Parasitic infections, especially helminthes infections of the gastrointestinal tract due to the latent symptoms, play a vital role in the growth and efficiency of ruminants. The current research was performed to determine the prevalence of haemonchosis in goats and the effect of some risk factors, such as age, sex, and months on the infection rate. Also, our study includes investigating the haematological and biochemical changes in the haemonchosis-infected goat, then utilizing the PCR technique to confirm the diagnosis in goats.

In the current research, the resist action of silver-doped polystyrene/polyethylene terephthalate (PET) solar thin film towards laser irradiation was observed. Moreover, silver-doped polystyrene nanoparticles were synthesized a chemical technique while the PET film was purchased from the commercial market. Nd:YAG pulsed laser has been used to irradiate the samples at 2 minutes, 4 minutes, and 6 minutes respectively.

Solid solutions of Sr-doped barium nonatitanate (BaTiO) ceramics were synthesized by a mixed oxide route, studied their structural, microstructural, optical, and microwave dielectric properties were studied. X-ray diffraction (XRD) has been used to reveal the structure and crystallite size of doped BaTiO ceramics. Rietveld refinements of XRD patterns revealed that all of the ceramics have a tetragonal structure with space group 4/.

Since the first reported case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in China, SARS-CoV-2 has been spreading worldwide. Genomic surveillance of SARS-CoV-2 has had a critical role in tracking the emergence, introduction, and spread of new variants, which may affect transmissibility, pathogenicity, and escape from infection or vaccine-induced immunity. As anticipated, the rapid increase in COVID-19 infections in Iraq in February 2021 is due to the introduction of variants of concern during the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
