Orthodontic therapy is becoming a mainstay for the correction of esthetic and functional disturbances in both young and older adults. Orthodontic forces act on the periodontium and can have wide-ranging effects, from beneficial to harmful, from being a hindrance to oral hygiene maintenance to causing irreversible periodontal breakdown. In some patients, the presence of periodontal conditions like gingival recession, before start of orthodontic therapy, raises many questions.

Human papillomavirus is a well-established risk factor for oropharyngeal cancer, although its role in oral cancer is still debated. Inconclusive evidence of its role in oral cancer is due to conflicting data arising from methodological differences, mostly due to the use of diagnostic tests with varying sensitivity and specificity. In addition, there is a lack of experimental data linking HPV to oral cancer.

Endodontic Management of Maxillary Second Molar with Vertucci Type VI Root Canal Morphology Diagnosed Using Cone-beam Computed Tomography.

The objective of this article is to highlight the importance of having a thorough knowledge about the root canal anatomy and the possible anatomical variations in maxillary second molar. This case report presents the endodontic management of the left maxillary second molar with four roots and four canals. A cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) imaging was performed to ascertain this complex root canal anatomy.

The aim of the study was to synthesize nanoparticles (NPs) with chitosan (CS), and poly (lactic acid) (PLA) as a carrier for the drug piceatannol (PIC). Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a problematic human pathogen resistant to almost all available antibiotics. The important prerequisite for these drugs to target this bacterium is an efficient delivery system. Siderophore-mediated drug delivery system is a promising approach to carry out antibiotics to the cells.

Report of occurrence and endodontic management of three-rooted maxillary first and second premolars in the same individual.

Anatomical variations should be kept in mind in clinical and carefully looked for in radiographic evaluation during endodontic treatment of maxillary premolars. These teeth have highly variable root canal morphology. Although three separate roots in the maxillary first premolars have been reported, it is a rarity to find both the first and second premolars possessing three separate roots.

Association between Nutritional Status and Early Childhood Caries in Indian Children.

Aims And Objectives: To assess the body mass index (BMI) status and to correlate between nutritional status and early childhood caries among 3-6-year-old children in Vikarabad, Telangana, India.

Materials And Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 350 children attending the outpatient department of Pedodontia in Sri Sai College of Dental Surgery, Vikarabad. Caries experience was recorded using dmft index (WHO 1997); various anthropometric measures, such as weight, BMI, and height, were recorded as per the standard guidelines.

Introduction: The objectives of this study were to compare the qualitative and quantitative profiles of herpes simplex virus type I (HSV-1) in implant surfaces between participants with peri-implantitis (PI) and Healthy peri-implant tissues and to quantitatively assess the relation between HSV-1 and periopathogens inside the microbiological profile associated with PI.

Eventuality of Dexamethasone Injected Intra-massetrically on Post Operative Sequel Following the Surgical Extraction of Impacted Mandibular Third Molars: A Prospective Study.

Objective: The objective of the study was to compare the efficacy of dexamethasone given intra-massetrically via intra buccal approach on postoperative sequele after surgical extraction of impacted mandibular third molars.

Methodology: Twenty patients, each of who required surgical extraction of a single impacted mandibular third molar under local anesthesia, were randomly set apart to one of the two groups of ten each. The experimental group received dexamethasone 8 mg injected to the masseter muscle intra buccally and the control group did not receive any steroid.

A Study on the Influence of the Osteotomy Slope on Bony Changes after Advancement Genioplasty.

Introduction: The slope of the osteotomy used for the genioplasty dictates the vertical change. The horizontal bony changes after advancement genioplasty are not identical to the intercortical bony changes, because the variety of osteotomy slopes result in different vertical changes.
