Human papillomavirus (HPV) drives cervical cancer (CaCx) pathogenesis and viral oncoproteins jeopardize global gene expression in such cancers. In this study, our aim was to identify differentially expressed coding (DEcGs) and long noncoding RNA genes (DElncGs) specifically sense intronic and Natural Antisense Transcripts as they are located in the genic regions and may have a direct influence on the expression pattern of their neighbouring coding genes. Biomass pretreatment for the production of second-generation (2G) ethanol and biochemical products is a challenging process. The present study investigated the synergistic efficiency of purified carboxymethyl cellulase (CMCase), β-glucosidase, and xylanase from Aspergillus fumigatus JCM 10253 in the hydrolysis of alkaline-pretreated sugarcane bagasse (SCB). In the catalytic transformation of bio-oil into liquid fuels having alkanes via hydrodeoxygenation (HDO), the acid and metal sites in the catalyst are pivotal for promoting the HDO of lignin-derived phenolic compounds. This study introduces a novel bifunctional catalyst comprising phosphomolybdenum-vanadium heteropolyacids (HPMoVO) coupled with Ni/C. The HDO reaction of the model compound guaiacol was carried out under reaction conditions of 230 °C, revealing the superior performance of HPMoVO with Ni/C catalysts compared to the conventional acids, even at low dosage.

The unique electronic properties of topological quantum materials, such as protected surface states and exotic quasiparticles, can provide an out-of-plane spin-polarized current needed for external field-free magnetization switching of magnets with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy. Conventional spin-orbit torque (SOT) materials provide only an in-plane spin-polarized current, and recently explored materials with lower crystal symmetries provide very low out-of-plane spin-polarized current components, which are not suitable for energy-efficient SOT applications. Here, we demonstrate a large out-of-plane damping-like SOT at room temperature using the topological Weyl semimetal candidate TaIrTe with a lower crystal symmetry.

Pancreatic Neuroendocrine tumors (PanNET) are challenging to diagnose and often detected at advanced stages due to a lack of specific and sensitive biomarkers. This study utilized proteomics as a valuable approach for cancer biomarker discovery; therefore, mass spectrometry-based proteomic profiling was conducted on plasma samples from 12 subjects (3 controls; 5 Grade I, 4 Grade II PanNET patients) to identify potential proteins capable of effectively distinguishing PanNET from healthy controls. Aberrantly glycosylated mucin 1 is a critical prognostic biomarker in breast epithelial cancers. Hypoglycosylated mucin 1 coats the surface of the cancer cells, where -glycans are predominantly linked via an -acetylgalactosamine moiety (GalNAc). In this study, we report high molecular weight (HMW) levan production by whole cells of Microbacterium paraoxydans, previously reported to be a good producer of fructooligosaccharides. Structural analysis of the extracellularly produced fructan indicated the glycosidic bonds between the adjacent fructose to be of β-(2, 6) linkage with over 90% of the fructan to have molecular weight around 2 × 10 Da and 10% with a molecular weight of ∼20 kDa.
