Single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) interactions are the key to improving polygenic risk scores. Previous studies reported several significant SNP-SNP interaction pairs that shared a common SNP to form a cluster, but some identified pairs might be false positives. This study aims to identify factors associated with the cluster effect of false positivity and develop strategies to enhance the accuracy of SNP-SNP interactions.

Background: The pandemic of SARS-CoV-2 was a novel situation, there was no conclusive knowledge, particularly concerning its effect on pregnant women and infants. Eminent obstetric organizations have introduced an array of guidelines to assist clinicians in countering this prior unknown outbreak. The primary objective of this study was to summarize the clinical characteristics, complications, and maternal and neonatal outcomes of COVID-19 during pregnancy and puerperium.

Background: The 6-item Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI-6) is the shortened version of the widely used 19-item FSFI-19, designed for efficient screening of female sexual dysfunction in outpatient settings. However, this shorter FSFI-6 tool has not yet been validated for use in Bangladesh.
Aim: The purpose of this study was to culturally adapt and validate the FSFI-6 in Bangla.

Endometriosis denotes the abnormal growth of tissue resembling endometrium in ectopic sites and has largely been studied in women of reproductive age. It is an extremely rare phenomenon in men. We came across an exceptional clinical scenario of histologically proven bladder endometriosis in a 66-year-old man in relook bladder biopsy following completion of adjuvant intravesical Bacillus Calmette-Guerin induction course for G3pTa bladder cancer.

Ribosome heterogeneity has emerged as an important regulatory control feature for determining which proteins are synthesized, however, the influence of age on ribosome heterogeneity is not fully understood. Whether mRNA transcripts are selectively translated in young versus old cells and whether dysregulation of this process drives organismal aging is unknown. Here we examined the role of ribosomal RNA (rRNA) methylation in maintaining appropriate translation as organisms age.

Background Salpingectomy is a common surgical procedure in gynecology performed for various indications. Given its proximity to the ovaries and shared vascular supply, concerns have arisen regarding compromised ovarian reserve post-salpingectomy. Objective We aim to study the effect of two different energy sources (group 1: salpingectomy using bipolar electrocautery followed by division with scissors versus group 2: salpingectomy with ultrasonic shears) on residual ovarian reserve.

In recent decades, the development of new drugs has become increasingly expensive and inefficient, and the molecular mechanisms of most pharmaceuticals remain poorly understood. In response, computational systems and network medicine tools have emerged to identify potential drug repurposing candidates. However, these tools often require complex installation and lack intuitive visual network mining capabilities.

Background: Combination antiretroviral therapy (ART) use in pregnancy has been pivotal in improving maternal health and reducing perinatal HIV transmission. However, children born HIV-exposed uninfected fall behind their unexposed peers in several areas including neurodevelopment. The contribution of ART exposure to these deficits is not clear.

Missense mutations in the gene encoding the microtubule-associated protein TAU (current and approved symbol is MAPT) cause autosomal dominant forms of frontotemporal dementia. Multiple models of frontotemporal dementia based on transgenic expression of human in experimental model organisms, including , have been described. These models replicate key features of the human disease but do not faithfully recreate the genetic context of the human disorder.

Cause-specific estimates of mortality and the subsequent effects on life expectancy worldwide are valuable metrics to gauge progress in reducing mortality rates. These estimates are particularly important following large-scale mortality spikes, such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

Estimates and projections of fertility are necessary to inform policies involving resource and health-care needs, labour supply, education, gender equality, and family planning and support. The Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study (GBD) 2021 produced up-to-date and comprehensive demographic assessments of key fertility indicators at global, regional, and national levels from 1950 to 2021 and forecast fertility metrics to 2100 based on a reference scenario and key policy-dependent alternative scenarios.

As cancer therapies increase in effectiveness and patients' life expectancies improve, balancing oncologic efficacy while reducing acute and long-term cardiovascular toxicities has become of paramount importance. To address this pressing need, the Cardiology Oncology Innovation Network (COIN) was formed to bring together domain experts with the overarching goal of collaboratively investigating, applying, and educating widely on various forms of innovation to improve the quality of life and cardiovascular healthcare of patients undergoing and surviving cancer therapies. The COIN mission pillars of innovation, collaboration, and education have been implemented with cross-collaboration among academic institutions, private and public establishments, and industry and technology companies.

Neuroblastoma is an aggressive pediatric cancer with a high rate of metastasis to the BM. Despite intensive treatments including high-dose chemotherapy, the overall survival rate for children with metastatic neuroblastoma remains dismal. Understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms of the metastatic tumor microenvironment is crucial for developing new therapies and improving clinical outcomes.
