Myelin basic protein (MBP) is one of the key structural elements of the myelin sheath and has autoantigenic properties in multiple sclerosis (MS). Its intracellular interaction network is still partially deconvoluted due to the unfolded structure, abnormally basic charge, and specific cellular localization. Here we used the fusion protein of MBP with TurboID, an engineered biotin ligase that uses ATP to convert biotin to reactive biotin-AMP that covalently attaches to nearby proteins, to determine MBP interactome.

We study for the first time the interaction between the waveguide modes of graphene structure and freely propagating terahertz (THz) electromagnetic waves (this interaction takes place within the light cone). We revealed a new and rather unexpected physical phenomenon by showing that freely incident THz electromagnetic waves can resonate with the surface transverse electric (TE) modes of the graphene waveguide in virtue of these modes having their dispersions in the vicinity of the light cone. The dispersion and amplification of surface TE modes in a dielectric waveguide covered with two graphene layers biased by direct current (DC), as well the amplification and lasing of incident THz wave by excitation of TE mode resonances, are investigated.

The titanium carbide MXenes currently attract an extreme amount of interest from the material science community due to their promising functional properties arising from the two-dimensionality of these layered structures. In particular, the interaction between MXene and gaseous molecules, even at the physisorption level, yields a substantial shift in electrical parameters, which makes it possible to design gas sensors working at RT as a prerequisite to low-powered detection units. The progress in brain diseases treatment is limited by the blood-brain barrier (BBB), which prevents delivery of the vast majority of drugs from the blood into the brain. In this study, we discover unknown phenomenon of opening of the BBBB (BBBO) by low-level laser treatment (LLLT, 1268 nm) in the mouse cortex. LLLT-BBBO is accompanied by activation of the brain drainage system contributing effective delivery of liposomes into glioblastoma (GBM).

Based on the intensive monitoring conducted by our team and volunteers in 2021, the secondary range of an alien horse-chestnut leaf miner, Deschka & Dimić, 1986 (Lepidoptera: Gracillariidae), was specified in European Russia. This invasive pest was confirmed in 24 out of 58 administrative regions of Russia, which it has occupied for approximately 16 years. Analysis of the COI mtDNA gene sequenced in 201 specimens collected in 21 regions of the European part of Russia indicates the occurrence of two haplotypes (A and B), which are also present in the secondary range of in Eastern and Western Europe.

Results of computational analysis and visualization of differences in gene structures using polarization coding are presented. A two-dimensional phase screen, where each element of which corresponds to a specific basic nucleotide (adenine, cytosine, guanine, or thymine), displays the analyzed nucleotide sequence. The article presents an original method for the automatic assessment of the quality of event-related potentials (ERPs), based on the calculation of the coefficient ε, which describes the compliance of recorded ERPs with some statistically significant parameters. A growing global emission of engineered nanoparticles (ENPs) into the aquatic environment has become an emerging safety concern that requires methods capable of identifying the occurrence and possibly determining the amounts of ENPs. In this study, we employed sector-field inductively coupled mass spectrometry to assess the presence of ENPs in coastal seawater samples collected from the Black Sea in regions suffering different anthropogenic impacts. Ultrafiltration through commercial 3 kDa membrane filters was shown to be feasible to separate the ENPs from the bulk seawater, and the subsequent ultrasound-mediated acidic dissolution makes the metals constituting the ENPs amenable to analysis.

We describe a method to synthesize a new class of hetarylaminomethylidene derivatives of furan-2(3)-ones. The method uses 5-(4-chlorophenyl)furan-2(3)-one, triethyl orthoformate, and heterocyclic amines with different ring sizes and heteroatoms under refluxing in absolute isopropyl alcohol. The obtained enamines exist in an equilibrium of - and -isomers, whose configurations relative to the double exocyclic C=C bond were confirmed with a set of NMR spectroscopy data.

The method of immersion optical clearing reduces light scattering in tissues, which improves the use of optical technologies in the practice of clinicians. In this work, we studied the optical and molecular diffusion properties of cat ovarian tissues in the follicular (F-ph) and luteal (L-ph) phases under the influence of glycerol using reflectance spectroscopy in a broad wavelength range from 200 to 800 nm. It was found that the reflectance and transmittance of the ovaries are significantly lower in the range from 200 to 600 nm than for longer wavelengths from 600 to 800 nm, and the efficiency of optical clearing is much lower for the ovaries in the luteal phase compared to the follicular phase.
