Background/objectives: Recent data indicate the involvement of skeletal muscles in the regulation of metabolism and in the pathogenesis of chronic noncommunicable diseases. The goal of our study was to describe the serum concentrations of myokines in patients with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and hypertension (HTN) and their correlation with laboratory parameters, blood pressure (BP), and MASLD severity.
Methods: A total of 67 patients with MASLD and HTN underwent anthropometric measurements, laboratory tests, and point shear-wave elastography.
Background/Objectives-Parkinson's disease (PD) is the second most common neurodegenerative disorder caused by the destruction of neurons in the substantia nigra of the brain. Clinical diagnosis of this disease, based on monitoring motor symptoms, often leads to a delayed start of PD therapy and control, where over 60% of dopaminergic nerve cells are damaged in the brain substantia nigra. The search for simple and stable characteristics of EEG recordings is a promising direction in the development of methods for diagnosing PD and methods for diagnosing the preclinical stage of PD development.

The molecular genetic approach to the study of epilepsy in childhood allows us to come closer to understanding the role of heredity in the development of epilepsy, as well as provide a personalized approach to the treatment and rehabilitation of severe, often resistant forms of epilepsy. In this article we demonstrate the genetic factors that cause the development of epilepsy in children. The review is devoted to the most common mechanisms of development of genetic epilepsies.

-Heart rate variability (HRV) and photoplethysmographic waveform variability (PPGV) are available approaches for assessing the state of cardiovascular autonomic regulation. The goal of our study was to compare the frequency-domain features and low-frequency (LF) synchronization of the PPGV and HRV with increasing severity of cardiovascular diseases. -Our study included 998 electrocardiogram (ECG) and finger photoplethysmogram (PPG) recordings from subjects, classified into five categories: 53 recordings from healthy subjects, aged 28.

Context: The problem of correcting immune system function and compensating for co-morbidities becomes particularly clinically significant in the post-COVID period. There is evidence that certain trace elements in the human body, particularly zinc ions, play a critical role in restoring the function of the immune system and internal organs.
Objective: To analyze the mechanisms of zinc action maintaining the body homeostasis in order to justify pathogenetically the inclusion of zinc drugs in the therapy of patients in the post-COVID period.

Objective: Biallelic titin truncating variants (TTNtv) have been associated with a wide phenotypic spectrum, ranging from complex prenatal muscle diseases with dysmorphic features to adult-onset limb-girdle muscular dystrophy, with or without cardiac involvement. Given the size and complexity of TTN, reaching an unequivocal molecular diagnosis and precise disease prognosis remains challenging.
Methods: In this case series, 12 unpublished cases and one already published case with biallelic TTNtv were collected from multiple international medical centers between November 2022 and September 2023.

This paper presents the results of a study of the characteristics of phase synchronization between electrocardiography(ECG) and electroencephalography (EEG) signals during night sleep. Polysomnographic recordings of eight generally healthy subjects and eight patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome were selected as experimental data. A feature of this study was the introduction of an instantaneous phase for EEG and ECG signals using a continuous wavelet transform at the heart rate frequency using the concept of time scale synchronization, which eliminated the emergence of asynchronous areas of behavior associated with the "leaving" of the fundamental frequency of the cardiovascular system.

E-cigarettes have been known to cause varied poor health outcomes prior to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), but after the impact of COVID-19, evidence came out that was, in some instances, not as expected regarding the severity of COVID-19 among e-cigarette users (vapers). A meta-analysis was performed on the available evidence to comprehensively find the effect of COVID-19 on existing or past e-cigarette users (vapers). The Meta-analysis of Observational Studies in Epidemiology (MOOSE) guidelines were used to perform this meta-analysis.

Improving the nutritional value of grain sorghum, a drought- and heat-tolerant grain crop, is an important task in the context of global warming. One of the reasons for the low nutritional value of sorghum grain is the resistance of its storage proteins (kafirins) to proteolytic digestion, which is due, among other things, to the structural organization of protein bodies, in which γ-kafirin, the most resistant to proteases, is located on the periphery, encapsulating more easily digested α-kafirins. The introduction of genetic constructs capable of inducing RNA silencing of the γ-kafirin (gKAF1) gene opens up prospects for solving this problem.
