Gold nanoparticles as part of vaccines greatly increase antigen stability, antigen accumulation in the lymph nodes, and antigen uptake by antigen-presenting cells. The use of such particles as part of anticancer vaccines based on heat shock proteins to increase vaccine effectiveness is timely. We prepared and characterized nanoconjugates based on 15-nm gold nanoparticles and thermostable tumor antigens isolated from MH22a murine hepatoma cells.

Aim: This study examines methods to effectively control peste des petits ruminants (PPR), an emerging, highly contagious, transboundary disease that has been designated as a highly dangerous disease by the World Organization for Animal Health. Mathematical modeling was used as a predictive and preventive tool to assess the risk of PPR virus spread in the model area and the probability of its introduction into the territory of the Russian Federation.
Materials And Methods: PPR risk assessment was performed by modeling the pathogen's ecological niche by performing linear regression analysis in the geographic information system ESRI ArcGIS Desktop and maximum entropy methods using MaxEnt software.

Human serum albumin (HSA) nanoparticles are promising biocompatible, nontoxic, and non-immunogenic platforms for biomedical applications such as bioimaging and drug and gene delivery. The development of nonviral gene delivery vectors is a great challenge for efficient and safe gene therapy. Sulforaphane (SF) can stimulate the expression of antioxidant genes activation of a nuclear transcription factor, the erythroid-2 related factor 2 (Nrf-2).

The main goal of this work was to modify the previously developed blade-type planar structure using plasmonic gold nanostars in order to stimulate photofield emission and provide efficient laser control of the electron current. Localization and enhancement of the field at the tips of gold nanostars provided a significant increase in the tunneling electron current in the experimental sample (both electrical field and photofield emission). Irradiation at a wavelength in the vicinity of the plasmon resonance (red laser) provided a gain in the photoresponse value of up to 5 times compared to irradiation far from the resonance (green laser).

The article presents a study of the antioxidant properties of meat from lambs that received organic forms of iodine and selenium during growth. This meat was included in diets of laboratory animals using a model of acute toxic hepatitis. The experiments resulted in developing and testing a technique that was effective in enriching lamb with bioorganic elements of iodine and selenium and contributed to the activation metabolism in the bodies of animals consuming the meat.

A new type of flat substrate has been used to visualize structures inside living cells by surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) and to study biochemical processes within cells. The SERS substrate is formed by stabilized aggregates of gold nanostars on a glass microscope slide coated with a layer of poly (4-vinyl pyridine) polymer. This type of SERS substrate provides good cell adhesion and viability.

The O-antigen (O-polysaccharide) is an essential component of lipopolysaccharide on the surface of Gram-negative bacteria and plays an important role in interaction with host organisms. In this study, we investigated the chemical structure and characterized the gene cluster of Enterobacter cloacae K7 O-antigen. As judged by sugar analyses along with NMR spectroscopy data, E.

Background: The liver disease problem prompts investigators to search for new methods of liver treatment.
Introduction: Silymarin (Sil) protects the liver by reducing the concentration of free radicals and the extent of damage to the cell membranes. A particularly interesting method to increase the bioavailability of Sil is to use synthesized gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) as reagents.

The structures and cytotoxic activities of water-soluble polysaccharides were investigated to search for biologically active polysaccharides from the fruit bodies of quinine conks (Fomitopsis officinalis). The decoctions of this medical fungus are actively used in folk medicine in many countries and traditional Chinese medicine. From the fungal extract we prepared, only branched β-glucan had cytotoxic activity among all the water-soluble polysaccharides.

A number of bacterial glycans are specific markers for the detection and the serological identification of microorganisms and are also widely used as antigenic components of vaccines. The use of gold nanoparticles as carriers for glyco-epitopes is becoming an important alternative to the traditional conjugation with proteins and synthetic polymers. In this study, we aimed to prepare and evaluate in vivo glyco-gold nanoparticles (glyco-GNPs) bearing the terminal-branched hexaarabinofuranoside fragment (Ara) of arabinan domains of lipoarabinomannan and arabinogalactan, which are principal polysaccharides of the cell wall of , the causative agent of tuberculosis.

Speckle-microscopy is used for the detection of in aqueous suspensions or on slides. Monoclonal antibody tagged with gold nanoparticles that form biospeckles have also been used with a small number of scatterers. By devising a prototype of laser scanning speckle-microscope, we now demonstrate that the signal of speckle microscope can be significantly amplified in the presence of gold nanoparticles.

Interactions of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) with live cells are known to exert a great impact on their functions, including cell signalling, genomic, proteomic, and metabolomic processes. Modern analytical techniques applied to studying nanoparticle-cell interactions are to improve our understanding of the mode of action of AuNPs, which is essential for their approval in disease therapeutics. Such methods may vary depending on what step of particle internalization is in question, i.

Objects of the study were: the control sample - an oxygen-containing product prepared using dairy whey, fruit and berry juice, highly esterified pectin; experimental samples - oxygen-containing products, which differed from the control sample by additional introduction of whey protein hydrolysate. Experimental samples have been modified by adding to them whey protein hydrolysate in the amount of 1-3% from the total weight of composition.

One of the most common cattle infection is bovine leukemia (causative agent - BLV), which often occurs in conjunction with a closely related infection -bovine immunodeficiency (causative agent - BIV). These retroviruses are considered to be species-specific, so the key issue for the dairy industry is the nutritional and raw value of milk of infected cows (without clinical signs).

Aim: The submitted article attempts to highlight and specify the development of Schmallenberg virus (SBV) and lumpy skin disease (LSD) in cartographic illustrations, as well as to assess the epizootic situation of these diseases in the world, especially in Russia.
Materials And Methods: Outbreaks (samples were collected from clinically healthy as well as suspected animals in infected areas) were confirmed and reported to the World Organization for Animal Health by veterinary officials representing countries in different geographical regions in the world. The reports showed that ELISA and polymerase chain reaction were used to identify SBV and LSD, taking into account number of infected, dead, and susceptible animals in infection foci since their first registration including in Russia.
