The post-effects of the COronaVIrus Disease (COVID-19) vary depending on socioeconomic and biological factors. Similarly, the effects of vaccination on people's immunity vary across several factors. After the pandemic, real-life post-vaccination anomalies significantly impact women's health, access to medical treatments and medications, mental well-being, and daily physical activities.

Background: Regular, detailed reporting on population health by underlying cause of death is fundamental for public health decision making. Cause-specific estimates of mortality and the subsequent effects on life expectancy worldwide are valuable metrics to gauge progress in reducing mortality rates. These estimates are particularly important following large-scale mortality spikes, such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

A bipolar intuitionistic fuzzy decision-making model for selection of effective diagnosis method of tuberculosis.

Acta Trop

April 2024

Department of Industrial and Management Engineering, Institute of Digital Anti-aging Healthcare, Inje University 197 Inje-ro, Gimhae-si, Gyeongsangnam-do 50834, Republic of Korea. Electronic address:

Objectives: Tuberculosis (TB) is a contagious illness caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The initial symptoms of TB are similar to other respiratory illnesses, posing diagnostic challenges. Therefore, the primary goal of this study is to design a novel decision-support system under a bipolar intuitionistic fuzzy environment to examine an effective TB diagnosing method.

Bleb-related Porcine Lymphatic Outflow is Greater from Subconjunctival compared to Subtenon Blebs.

J Curr Glaucoma Pract

January 2022

Alfred Vogt Endowed Chair in Ophthalmology, The Viterbi Family Department of Ophthalmology, Shiley Eye Institute, Hamilton Glaucoma Center, University of California, San Diego, California, USA.

Aim: Understanding the mechanism of fluid outflow by comparing the subconjunctival and subtenon spaces can lead to improved ocular therapeutics. The purpose of the current study is to evaluate subconjunctival vs subtenon lymphatic outflow by creating tracer-filled blebs in each location.

Methods: Porcine ( = 20) eyes received subconjunctival or subtenon injection(s) of fixable and fluorescent dextrans.

Subconjunctival Lymphatics Respond to VEGFC and Anti-Metabolites in Rabbit and Mouse Eyes.

Invest Ophthalmol Vis Sci

September 2022

Hamilton Glaucoma Center, The Viterbi Family Department of Ophthalmology, Shiley Eye Institute, University of California, San Diego, California, United States.

Purpose: To characterize and pharmacologically influence subconjunctival lymphatics in rabbit and mouse eyes.

Methods: Rabbits received subconjunctival injections of trypan blue or fixable fluorescent dextrans. Bleb-related outflow pathways were quantified.

Background: More than 3 billion people do not have access to clean energy and primarily use solid fuels to cook. Use of solid fuels generates household air pollution, which was associated with more than 2 million deaths in 2019. Although local patterns in cooking vary systematically, subnational trends in use of solid fuels have yet to be comprehensively analysed.

Department of Surgery (D.C., E.P., R.P.Y., M.N.C., I.-T.C., J.C., J.Y., L.Z., J.-E.I.Y., J.S.Y., B.N., S.L., Y.J.S., W.J., Y.-K.H.), Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California, Los Angeles' CA.

Background: Mutations in PIEZO1 (Piezo type mechanosensitive ion channel component 1) cause human lymphatic malformations. We have previously uncovered an ORAI1 (ORAI calcium release-activated calcium modulator 1)-mediated mechanotransduction pathway that triggers lymphatic sprouting through Notch downregulation in response to fluid flow. However, the identity of its upstream mechanosensor remains unknown.

Nickeltitanate (Ilmenite) has been prepared with stoichiometric variation by substituting Mn in the 'A' site, using the sol-gel method in a highly active form. The PdSn electrocatalyst was then impregnated with nickeltitanate by a microwave-assisted polyol method. The physiochemical characterisation of the synthesized electrocatalyst PdSn-Ni Mn TiO was done by X-ray diffractometry, UV-visible spectrophotometry, Raman spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy.

Spinel (magnesium aluminate MgAl O ) ceramic-based polyphasic composite scaffold has been recently reported for craniofacial bone tissue engineering. Improving the osteogenic effects of such composite scaffolds with bone morphogenetic proteins (BMP2) is an intensely researched area. This study investigated the gene interactions of this scaffold with BMP2 and mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs).

Background: Documentation of patterns and long-term trends in mortality in young people, which reflect huge changes in demographic and social determinants of adolescent health, enables identification of global investment priorities for this age group. We aimed to analyse data on the number of deaths, years of life lost, and mortality rates by sex and age group in people aged 10-24 years in 204 countries and territories from 1950 to 2019 by use of estimates from the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study (GBD) 2019.

Methods: We report trends in estimated total numbers of deaths and mortality rate per 100 000 population in young people aged 10-24 years by age group (10-14 years, 15-19 years, and 20-24 years) and sex in 204 countries and territories between 1950 and 2019 for all causes, and between 1980 and 2019 by cause of death.

Senior Consultant, Haemato-Oncology & Bone Marrow Transplant, Comprehensive Blood & Cancer Center (CBCC), 632, C-1, Ansals Palam Vihar, Carterpuri, Gurgaon 122017, India.

Background: Considering the limitations in isolating Bone Marrow Mesenchymal Stem Cells (BMSCs), alternate sources of Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs) are being intensely investigated. This study evaluated dental pulp MSCs (DP-MSCs) isolated from orthodontically extracted premolar teeth from a bone tissue engineering perspective.

Methods: MSCs isolated from premolar teeth pulp were cultured and studied using BMSCs as the control.

In this study, the optimized 4-(4-hydroxybenzyl)-2-amino-6-hydroxypyrimidine-5-carboxamide derivative was formulated as nanoparticles to evaluate for their anticancer activity. The response surface methodology (RSM) was performed with utilization of Box-Behnken statistical design (BBSD) to optimize the experimental conditions for identification of significant synthetic methodology. To explore the stability of the derivative was done by density functional theory (DFT).
