Computed tomography (CT) is a diagnostic imaging process that uses ionising radiation to obtain information about the interior anatomic structure of the human body. Considering that the medical use of ionising radiation implies exposing patients to radiation that may lead to unwanted stochastic effects and that those effects are less probable at lower doses, optimising imaging protocols is of great importance. In this paper, we used an assembled 3D-printed infant head phantom and matched its image quality parameters with those obtained for a commercially available adult head phantom using the imaging protocol dedicated for adult patients.

College of Medicine, QU Health, Qatar University, Doha, Qatar. Electronic address:

Acinic cell carcinoma of the breast is a rare special subtype of breast cancer in the category of salivary gland-type tumors. It is morphologically similar to acinic cell carcinomas of salivary glands and pancreas and has a triple-negative phenotype (estrogen receptor-negative, progesterone receptor-negative, and Her-2/neu negative). Its molecular genomic features are more similar to triple-negative breast cancer of no special type than to its salivary gland counterpart.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates potential soluble biomarkers in blood and bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) that could help diagnose systemic sclerosis-associated interstitial lung disease (SSc-ILD), which is a rare and complex condition.
  • A systematic review of 768 studies narrowed down to 38 relevant articles, with 13 included in meta-analyses, identifying three key biomarkers: KL-6, SP-D, and IL-8 that show significant elevation in SSc-ILD patients compared to healthy controls.
  • The findings suggest that KL-6, SP-D, and IL-8 are promising as reliable diagnostic biomarkers for SSc-ILD, but more research is needed to validate other proposed biomarkers

Introduction The optimal management of distal ureteral stones remains a matter of debate since current guidelines favor ureteroscopy over extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL). We aimed to evaluate the efficiency of ESWL for distal ureteral stones and to identify factors that affect treatment outcomes. Materials and methods The retrospective study included records of 115 patients with distal ureteral stones, 5 mm to 18 mm in size, undergoing 223 ESWL sessions as an outpatient procedure.
