Extraventricular neurocytoma (EVN) is a rare neuronal tumor with a marked tendency towards ganglionic or glial differentiation. Although EVN commonly occurs in young adults, congenital cases are extremely rare, and standardized therapeutic strategies remain undetermined. The presence of atypical features such as increased mitotic activity on histological analysis is correlated with a higher rate of recurrence and poor prognosis.

The processes of autophagy, including autophagosome formation, fusion of autophagosomes with lysosomes, and degradation of autophagosomes by lysosomes, are regulated by various mechanisms. We recently found that treatment with resveratrol, an activator of the NAD-dependent protein deacetylase Sirtuin-1 (SIRT1), in a mouse model prevented autophagosome accumulation in the heart with high mTORC1 activity. In this study, we investigated whether SIRT1 mediates the effects of resveratrol on autophagosome elimination using a cardiomyocyte model.

Background And Study Aims: Prophylactic clip closure after colorectal endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) among patients on anticoagulants is of uncertain effectiveness in reducing delayed bleeding (DB) risk. We aimed to assess the effect of prophylactic clip closure in preventing DB after colorectal ESD among patients on anticoagulants.
Patients And Methods: We used the ABCD-J study database, a large-scale multicenter study analyzing DB among 34,455 colorectal ESD cases from 47 Japanese institutions.

The functional role of the biceps femoris short head (BFsh) remains unclear. Clarifying the functional role of each biceps femoris head may provide useful insights into the reduction of biceps femoris long head (BFlh) injuries. This study aimed to clarify whether the passive tension in the BFlh would change with BFsh detachment using cadavers.

Purpose: Previous clinical studies have reported on the short- and mid-term prognoses of thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) using the GORE thoracic aortic graft (TAG) or conformable GORE TAG. We evaluated the long-term prognoses of patients who underwent TEVAR using the GORE TAG or conformable GORE TAG in a real-world setting.
Materials And Methods: This retrospective observational study analyzed the data of all consecutive patients aged 20 years or older who underwent TEVAR using either the GORE TAG or the conformable GORE TAG at a single center.

Background: In Japan, since 2014, new treatments such as androgen receptor signaling inhibitors and cabazitaxel have become applicable for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC), leading to dramatic changes in treatment options.
Objective: This study aims to evaluate the impact of recent advancements in treatment options on the overall survival (OS) of patients diagnosed with de novo metastatic castration-sensitive prostate cancer (mCSPC) in Japan.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 2450 Japanese men diagnosed with de novo mCSPC between 2008 and 2018.

Background: Idiopathic interstitial pneumonias (IIPs), such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and interstitial pneumonia with autoimmune features, present diagnostic and therapeutic challenges due to their heterogeneous nature. This study aimed to identify intrinsic molecular signatures within the lung microenvironment of these IIPs through proteomic analysis of bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF).
Methods: Patients with IIP (n=23) underwent comprehensive clinical evaluation including pre-treatment bronchoscopy and were compared with controls without lung disease (n=5).

Recent studies have shown that long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) play pivotal roles in the development and progression of cancer. In the present study, we aimed to identify lncRNAs associated with lymph node metastasis in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). We analyzed data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database to screen for genes overexpressed in primary PDAC tumors with lymph node metastasis.

In high-intensity and sprint interval training, the frequency of contractions is typically higher compared to moderate-intensity continuous training, but it remains unclear whether this contributes to the effective increase in fatigue resistance mechanisms. Here, we investigated the role of contraction frequency in high-intensity training on endurance adaptations of mouse skeletal muscle. Male C57BL/6 mice were divided into groups based on high (0.

Lipolysis-stimulated lipoprotein receptor (LSR), a lipid metabolism-related factor localized in tricellular tight junctions (tTJs), plays an important role in maintaining the epithelial homeostasis. LSR is highly expressed in well-differentiated cancers, and its expression decreases during malignancy. The LSR antibody inhibits cell growth and promotes apoptosis in some cancers.

Comprehensive studies of the genetic profiles of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) in Japanese patients have been lacking, although an understanding of these profiles is crucial for improving treatment outcomes. Since 2019, comprehensive genomic profiling (CGP) has been covered by Japan's health insurance, and the resulting data have been compiled into a comprehensive database by the country's Center for Cancer Genomics and Advanced Therapeutics (C-CAT). In this retrospective study, we used CGP data from the C-CAT database to analyze genomic characteristics of cSCC in Japanese patients.
