Providing standardized, high-quality rehabilitation for critically ill patients is a crucial issue. In 2017, the Japanese Society of Intensive Care Medicine (JSICM) promulgated the "Evidence-Based Expert Consensus for Early Rehabilitation in the Intensive Care Unit" to advocate for the early initiation of rehabilitations in Japanese intensive care settings. Building upon this seminal work, JSICM has recently conducted a rigorous systematic review utilizing the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) methodology.

Infant car seat use in Japan after the antepartum distribution of an educational leaflet: A prospective, nonrandomized controlled trial with a questionnaire survey.

To determine whether an antepartum educational leaflet distributed to parents before infant delivery affected the rate of infant car-seat (ICS) use 1 month after delivery, because to the best of our knowledge, only few reports have evaluated systematic attempts to improve the rate of always ICS use by mothers driving infants A multicenter questionnaire survey targeting pregnant Japanese women seeking antenatal care at the outpatient clinics of eight hospitals was designed. Women enrolled during the first half of the study period did not receive leaflets describing ICS safety guidelines (control group). Stretching positions for the coracohumeral ligament: Strain measurement during passive motion using fresh/frozen cadaver shoulders.

Background: Contracture of the coracohumeral ligament is reported to restrict external rotation of the shoulder with arm at the side and restrict posterior-inferior shift of the humeral head. The contracture is supposed to restrict range of motion of the glenohumeral joint.

Methods: To obtain stretching position of the coracohumeral ligament, strain on the ligament was measured at the superficial fibers of the ligament using 9 fresh/frozen cadaver shoulders.

Effect of elbow and forearm position on contact pressure between the extensor origin and the lateral side of the capitellum.

Purpose: Bone-to-tendon contact in the origin of the common extensor tendons is considered to be one of the causes of lateral epicondylitis. Some factors, including elbow and forearm position, varus stress to the elbow, or contraction of the wrist extensor tendons, are considered to affect this bone-to-tendon contact. However, no studies have evaluated the effect of the elbow and forearm position on bone-tendon interface.

Effectiveness of external rotation immobilization in highly active young men with traumatic primary anterior shoulder dislocation or subluxation.

We treated 15 highly active young men (16 shoulders) with traumatic primary anterior shoulder dislocation or subluxation using 3-week external rotation immobilization. Fourteen patients (14 shoulders) were members of the Self-Defense Force and the other patient (2 shoulders) was a high school student who played club-level rugby. Average patient age at the time of the primary injury was 21.
