The basal levels of salicylic acid (SA) vary dramatically among plant species. In the shoot, for example, rice contains almost 100 times higher SA levels than Arabidopsis. Despite its high basal levels, neither the biosynthetic pathway nor the biological functions of SA are well understood in rice.

Steroidal alkaloids (SAs) and steroidal glycoalkaloids (SGAs) are common constituents of plant species belonging to the family. However, the molecular mechanism regulating the formation of SAs and SGAs remains unknown. Here, genome-wide association mapping was used to elucidate SA and SGA regulation in tomatoes: a SlGAME5-like glycosyltransferase (Solyc10g085240) and the transcription factor SlDOG1 (Solyc10g085210) were significantly associated with steroidal alkaloid composition.

Plants respond to wounding by reprogramming the expression of genes involved in secondary metabolism. trees produce many bioactive secondary metabolites in response to wounding, but the regulatory mechanism of agarwood formation in the early response to mechanical wounding has remained unclear. To gain insights into the process of transcriptome changes and to determine the regulatory networks of to an early response (15 days) to mechanical wounding, we collected samples from the untreated (Asc1) and treated (Asf1) xylem tissues and performed RNA sequencing (RNA-seq).

Crop rotation can assemble distinct core microbiota as functionally specific barriers against the invasion of banana Fusarium oxysporum pathogens. However, the taxonomic identity of rotation-unique core taxa and their legacy effects are poorly understood under field conditions. Pepper and eggplant rotations were employed to reveal rotation crop- and banana-unique antagonistic core taxa by in situ tracking of the soil microbiome assembly patterns for 2 yr.

Introduction: Flavonoids are important water soluble secondary metabolites in plants, and light is one of the most essential environmental factors regulating flavonoids biosynthesis. In the previous study, we found bagging treatment significantly inhibited the accumulation of flavonols and anthocyanins but promoted the proanthocyanidins accumulation in the fruit peel of mango ( L.) cultivar 'Sensation', while the relevant molecular mechanism is still unknown.

Abscisic acid (ABA) is a plant hormone that plays an important role in cotton fiber development. In this study, the physiological changes and proteomic profiles of cotton (Gossypium hirsutum) ovules were analyzed after 20 days of ABA or ABA inhibitor (ABAI) treatment. The results showed that compared to the control (CK), the fiber length was significantly decreased under ABA treatment and increased under ABAI treatment.

Tiller number per plant-a cardinal component of ideal plant architecture-affects grain yield potential. Thus, alleles positively affecting tillering must be mined to promote genetic improvement. Here, we report a Tiller Number 1 (TN1) protein harbouring a bromo-adjacent homology domain and RNA recognition motifs, identified through genome-wide association study of tiller numbers.

Plant hormone abscisic acid (ABA) plays an important role in plant growth, development and response to biotic / abiotic stressors. Thus, it is necessary to investigate the crucial genes associated with ABA synthesis. Currently, the carotenoid cleavage oxygenases (CCOs) family that function as the key step for ABA synthesis are not well understood in banana.

Tomato () is the most valuable fruit and horticultural crop species worldwide. Compared with the fruits of their progenitors, those of modern tomato cultivars are, however, often described as having unsatisfactory taste or lacking flavor. The flavor of a tomato fruit arises from a complex mix of tastes and volatile metabolites, including sugars, acids, amino acids, and various volatiles.

To clarify the effect of short-term high temperatures on the survival and lifespan of , newly emerged adults of three consecutive generations (F, F, and F) were exposed to 25 °C, 33 °C, 37 °C, 41 °C, or 45 °C treatments for 1 h. The effect of these temperatures on survival and lifespan was evaluated using biological indicators such as lifespan and pupation rate.

Soybean is a major source of high-quality protein for humans and animals. The content of sulfur-containing amino acids (SAA) in soybean is insufficient, which has become the main factor limiting soybean nutrition. In this study, we used the high-density genetic maps derived from Guizao 1 and Brazil 13 to evaluate the quantitative trait loci of cysteine (Cys), methionine (Met), SAA, glycinin (7S), β-conglycinin (11S), ratio of glycinin to β-conglycinin (RGC), and protein content (PC).

Neoscytalidium dimidiatum is the main causal agent of pitaya canker. Most studies of virulence and pathogenicity genes have measured expression levels using real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR). Suitable reference genes are essential for ensuring that estimates of gene expression levels by RT-qPCR are accurate.
