Patients with intracranial aneurysm (IA) are at high risk of cerebral hemorrhage, which is associated with high mortality. Craniotomy or interventional endovascular coiling are common treatment methods in clinical practice, depending on the patient's condition. However, the recurrence rate of IA after either method remains unclear.

Introduction: Recurrent opportunistic infections are particularly common in patients infected with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). However, these opportunistic infections have also been reported in HIV-negative patients, especially those with primary immunodeficiency disorder (PID), a condition that involves a large heterogeneous group of disorders arising from defects in immune system development and/or function.

Case: Here, we report a very rare case of recurrent opportunistic infections in a non-HIV-infected patient combined with mutations in complement component C6 and nuclear factor kB subunit 1 ().

Efficient clearance of hematomas is crucial for improving clinical outcomes in patients with intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). The glymphatic system, facilitated by aquaporin-4 (AQP4), plays a crucial role in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) entry and metabolic waste clearance. This study examined the role of the glymphatic system in ICH pathology, with a focus on AQP4.

Objective: Intracranial hemorrhage (ICH), the second most common subtype of stroke, exacerbates the disruption of the blood-brain barrier (BBB), leading to vasogenic edema, plasma protein extravasation, and infiltration of neurotoxic substances. The clearance capacity of the brain plays a crucial role in maintaining BBB homeostasis and facilitating patient recovery after hemorrhage. This study aimed to investigate the effect of circadian rhythms on BBB function, neuronal damage, and clearance capabilities.

This study presents a groundbreaking approach for the early detection of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and other urological disorders through an image-label-free, multi-dipstick identification method, eliminating the need for complex machinery, label libraries, or preset coordinates. Our research successfully identified reaction pads on 187 multi-dipsticks, each with 11 pads, leveraging machine learning algorithms trained on human urine data. This technique aims to surpass traditional colourimetric methods and concentration-colour curve fitting, offering more robust and precise community screening and home monitoring capabilities.

Department of Neurology, The Second Hospital, Shanxi Medical University, Taiyuan 030001, Shanxi, China; Department of Neurology, Sanya Central Hospital (Hainan Third People's Hospital), Sanya 572000, China. Electronic address:

Background: Leucine-rich glioma inactivated 1 (LGI1) antibody-related autoimmune encephalitis is easily misdiagnosed clinically because of its complex and diverse clinical manifestations. We present two cases of LGI1 antibody-related encephalitis with negative imaging findings and perform a literature review on this disease entity.

Case Description: The first case was that of a 60-year-old man who presented with involuntary movement of the paroxysmal right limb.

The clearance function is essential for maintaining brain tissue homeostasis, and the glymphatic system is the main pathway for removing brain interstitial solutes. Aquaporin-4 (AQP4) is the most abundantly expressed aquaporin in the central nervous system (CNS) and is an integral component of the glymphatic system. In recent years, many studies have shown that AQP4 affects the morbidity and recovery process of CNS disorders through the glymphatic system, and AQP4 shows notable variability in CNS disorders and is part of the pathogenesis of these diseases.

Anaerobic digestion (AD) of waste activated sludge (WAS) is commonly limited to poor synergistic cooperation of four stages including hydrolysis, acidogenesis, acetogenesis and methanogenesis. Dissimilatory metal reduction that induced by metal-based conductive materials is promising strategy to regulate anaerobic metabolism with the higher metabolic driving force. In this study, MnO as inducer of dissimilatory manganese reduction (DMnR) was added into WAS-feeding AD system for mediating complicated anaerobic metabolism.

Department of Gastroenterology, West China Hospital, Sichuan University, Chengdu, Sichuan, China.

() infection is chronic and etiologically linked to gastric cancer (GC) derived from gastric epithelium. The potential mechanism is complex, covering chronic inflammation, epithelial senescence, NF-B activation, the cytotoxin-associated gene A protein translocation, and related abnormal signaling pathways. In clinical practice, the test-and-treat strategy, endoscopy-based strategy, and (family-based) screen-and-treat strategy are recommended to detect and prevent GC.

Background: Chronic otitis media is a common middle ear disease in otolaryngology. Bacterial infection is considered as the cause of the disease, but relying on conventional bacterial cultures can be problematic for identifying specific pathogens. Current research suggests that bacteria in microbial communities can only be identified by rDNA sequencing of bacteria.
