Improving glucose sensitivity remains an unmet medical need in treating type 2 diabetes (T2D). Dorzagliatin is a dual-acting, orally bioavailable glucokinase activator that enhances glucokinase activity in a glucose-dependent manner, improves glucose-stimulated insulin secretion and demonstrates effects on glycemic control in patients with T2D. We report the findings of a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled phase 3 clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of dorzagliatin in patients with T2D.

The primary objective of this study was to construct an immune-related long noncoding RNAs (IRLs) classifier to precisely predict the prognosis and immunotherapy response of patients with thymic epithelial tumors (TET). Based on univariable Cox regression analysis and Lasso regression, six prognosis-related IRLs (AC004466.3, AC138207.

In this study, a new approach for the synthesis of MIL-53(Fe) nanocrystals with controlled sizes has been developed using a non-ionic surfactant PVP as the conditioning and stabilizing agent, respectively. During the nucleation of MIL-53(Fe), the PVP droplet, as a nano-reactor, controlled the growth of the crystal nucleus.

In this study, biocathode system coupled with different co-metabolism conditions (NaAc, glucose and NaHCO) were developed to degrade quinolones enrofloxacin (ENR) due to its poorly metabolization, easily accumulation and potential toxicity. Simultaneously, ENR reduction kinetic rate constant in NaAc-fed, glucose-fed and NaHCO-fed biocathodes, and sole biocathode were increased by 343.62%, 320.

Green open space (GOS) is an important outdoor resource for the well-being of children by providing places for physical activity (PA), especially in the highly urbanized environment. The COVID-19 lockdowns have made children have more sedentary time than before due to less access to public places. This article aims to examine the associations of GOS characteristics (environmental and surrounding) and children's use (visitation and PA pattern) to provide evidence for promoting their PA during the pandemic.

Maprotiline is an antidepressant that has been found to cause hypoglycemia. However, the effect of maprotiline on diabetic nephropathy (DN) has not been investigated. Here, we explored the effect of maprotiline on human renal glomerular endothelial cells (HRGECs) in response to high glucose (HG) stimulation.

Background: To explore the value of serum miR-139-3p expression level in predicting postoperative survival of colon cancer patients.
Methods: We selected 158 cases enrolled in our hospital from January 2017 to December 2019. Using real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR, the expression extents of serum miR-139-3p among patients suffering from colon cancer were detected.

As the most metabolically active organ in the body, there is a recognized need for pathways that remove waste proteins and neurotoxins from the brain. Previous research has indicated potential associations between the clearance system in the brain and the pathological conditions of the central nervous system (CNS), due to its importance, which has attracted considerable attention recently. In the last decade, studies of the clearance system have been restricted to the glymphatic system.

Background: The relationship between women's reproductive characteristics and stroke events is unclear. We aimed to investigate age at menarche, age at menopause and number of reproductive years in relation to fatal stroke occurrence in the Guangzhou Biobank Cohort Study.
Methods: In total, 16,504 postmenopausal women without stroke, heart disease or a cancer history at baseline were included and followed up for a median of 12.

Objective: This study investigated and analyzed the pain degree after dental implantation and its influencing factors, and provided a scientific basis for reducing post-surgical pain in patients.
Methods: A total of 137 patients who underwent dental implantation between June 2018 to December 2019 were selected as the research subjects. Their pain intensity immediately after surgery, 24 h after surgery, and 72 h after surgery were evaluated respectively by a numerical rating scale (NRS), and the factors that affected the postoperative pain were analyzed by univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis.

Objective: This research investigated the combined analgesic effects of intercostal nerve block and intravenous patient-controlled analgesia (IV-PCA) on patients after lung cancer surgery.
Methods: 95 patients with thoracoscopic radical resection of lung cancer from April 2017 to July 2020 were enrolled as the research objects, and randomly divided into observation-group (n=50) and control-group (n=45) by random number table. The control-group received intravenous patient-controlled analgesia (IV-PCA), and the observation group received combinative treatment of intercostal nerve block and IV-PCA.

In this meta-analysis, we will focus on evaluating the effects of open nephroureterectomy compared with laparoscopic nephroureterectomy on postoperative results in upper urinary tract urothelial carcinoma subjects. A systematic literature search up to January 2021 was performed, and 36 studies included 23,013 subjects with upper urinary tract urothelial carcinoma at the start of the study; of them, 8,178 were laparoscopic nephroureterectomy, and 14,835 of them were open nephroureterectomy. They were reporting relationships between the efficacy and safety of open nephroureterectomy compared with laparoscopic nephroureterectomy in the treatment of upper urinary tract urothelial carcinoma.

Microglia are the resident immune cells of the central nervous system (CNS). It is well established that microglia are activated and polarized to acquire different inflammatory phenotypes, either pro-inflammatory or anti-inflammatory phenotypes, which act as a critical component in the neuroinflammation following intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). Microglia produce pro-inflammatory mediators at the early stages after ICH onset, anti-inflammatory microglia with neuroprotective effects appear to be suppressed.

Oxidative stress (OS) is induced by the accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) following intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) and plays an important role in secondary brain injury caused by the inflammatory response, apoptosis, autophagy, and blood-brain barrier (BBB) disruption. This review summarizes the current state of knowledge regarding the pathogenic mechanisms of brain injury after ICH, markers for detecting OS, and therapeutic strategies that target OS to mitigate brain injury.

Lung cancer is one of the deadliest malignant tumors with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) being the most prevalent type. Patients with NSCLC usually were diagnosed at the advance clinical stages, and these patients often had high rate of tumor-recurrence, thus leading to poor prognosis. Yet, the molecular mechanisms underlying NSCLC progression and recurrence are largely unknown.

Ferroptosis is a term that describes one form of regulated non-apoptotic cell death. It is triggered by the iron-dependent accumulation of lipid peroxides. Emerging evidence suggests a link between ferroptosis and the pathophysiological processes of neurological disorders, including stroke, degenerative diseases, neurotrauma, and cancer.
