Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is an immune-mediated chronic disease with a significant impact on quality of life. In pediatric patients, diagnosing and managing IBD is particularly challenging, and IBD often presents as a more severe and progressive disease. Patient-reported outcomes (PROs) are measures of treatment and disease management outcomes reported by patients and/or caregivers.

Objectives: This study evaluated the clinical utility of the Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) by comparing it with objective clinical data and validated health-related quality of life (HRQOL) measures in pediatric Crohn's disease (CD) patients.
Study Design: Cross-sectional study. Pediatric CD patients (aged 8-17 years) were enrolled prospectively over eight months from an outpatient pediatric gastroenterology center.

Objective: To evaluate whether the success rate of oral mifepristone was not inferior to that of Foley balloon catheter for outpatient cervical ripening of term pregnancies, and whether there were differences in side effects for mothers and newborns.
Design: Open-label, non-inferiority randomised controlled trial.
Setting: A tertiary care European university hospital in an urban setting.

Single Anastomosis Duodeno-Ileal Bypass with Sleeve Gastrectomy (SADI-S) was proposed as a simplification of the biliopancreatic diversion (BPD) procedure with duodenal switch (DS) in order to reduce operative time and postoperative complications rate, however, keeping effectiveness in weight loss and in comorbidities' resolution. We performed a systematic review of the literature with the aim of summarizing the current evidence of SADI-S clinical outcomes in order to assess its effectiveness and safety, and a total of 17 studies were included. Short- and mid-term follow-up results were reported, with a mean TWL loss ≥ 25% at 12 months and > 44% after 24 months, comparable to BPD-DS, also in reoperative surgery.

Air pollution is a critical global health issue that significantly impacts cardiovascular health. The air pollutant PM (particulate matter with a diameter of 2.5 micrometres or less) has been positioned as a leading environmental risk factor for morbidity and mortality, especially from cardiovascular diseases (CVDs).

The aim of this work was to validate the measurements of three physiological parameters, namely, body temperature, heart rate, and peripheral oxygen saturation, captured with an out-of-the-lab device using measurements taken with clinically proven devices. The out-of-the-lab specialized device was integrated into a customized mHealth application, e-CoVig, developed within the AIM Health project. To perform the analysis, single consecutive measurements of the three vital parameters obtained with e-CoVig and with the standard devices from patients in an intensive care unit were collected, preprocessed, and then analyzed through classical agreement analysis, where we used Lin's concordance coefficient to assess the agreement correlation and Bland-Altman plots with exact confidence intervals for the limits of agreement to analyze the paired data readings.

Background: Immune mechanisms are associated with adverse outcomes in schizophrenia; however, the predictive value of various peripheral immune biomarkers has not been collectively investigated in a large cohort before.
Objective: To investigate how white blood cell (WBC) counts, ratios, and C-Reactive Protein (CRP) levels influence the long-term outcomes of individuals with schizophrenia spectrum disorder (SSD).
Methods: We identified all adults in the Central Denmark Region during 1994-2013 with a measurement of WBC counts and/or CRP at first diagnosis of SSD.

People with nonsevere hemophilia (PWNSH) are phenotypically more diverse than those with severe hemophilia. Perceptions relating to a "nonsevere" phenotype have contributed to fewer research initiatives, fewer guidelines on optimal management, and a lack of standards for surveillance and clinical assessment for affected individuals. In many cases, episodes of abnormal bleeding could, if investigated, have led to earlier diagnosis.

We compared the clinical and analytical performance of Alzheimer's disease (AD) plasma biomarkers measured using the single-molecule array (Simoa) and Lumipulse platforms. We quantified the plasma levels of amyloid beta 42 (Aβ42), Aβ40, phosphorylated tau (Ptau181), and total tau biomarkers in 81 patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI), 30 with AD, and 16 with non-AD dementia. We found a strong correlation between the Simoa and Lumipulse methods.
