Purpose: Low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) experience the burden of 80% of new childhood cancer cases worldwide, with cure rates as low as 10% in some countries. Metronomics combines frequent administrations of low-dose chemotherapy with drug repurposing, which consists of using already-approved drugs for new medical applications. With wide availability, limited costs, and little infrastructure needs, metronomics can be part of constraint-adapted regimens in these resource-limited settings-with the understanding that metronomics shall not be a substitute for standard treatments when available and doable.

Objective: The outcomes of endovascular treatment of femoropopliteal atherosclerotic lesions have been improving recently. Although open repair is indicated for class D femoropopliteal lesions based on the TransAtlantic Inter-Society Consensus II (TASC II) document, in some cases, it is reasonable to use the endovascular approach for these lesions. The aim of this study was to retrospectively analyze the technical aspects and outcomes of treating TASC II D femoropopliteal disease with endovascular approaches.

Rubber projectiles are used as an alternative to metal bullets owing to their lower morbidity and mortality rate. There are few reports of vascular lesions of extremities caused by rubber projectiles in the literature. The authors report the case of a 37-year-old man who was the victim of a penetrating injury to the left thigh with a rubber projectile.

The lack of evidence impedes our ability to compare and characterize family medicine models and identify areas of success that have led to the effective provision of care. This paper offers a comparative compilation and analysis of the development of family medicine training programs in seven countries: Brazil, Canada, Ethiopia, Haiti, Indonesia, Kenya, and Mali.

Importance: The risk of extraocular extension from injecting chemotherapy into eyes with retinoblastoma is minimally understood; however, understanding this risk is important because of the increasing use of intravitreous chemotherapy.
Objective: To evaluate the risk of extraocular extension in eyes with retinoblastoma that have received intravitreous chemotherapy injections.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This retrospective cohort study was performed in 655 patients at 10 retinoblastoma centers in North and South American, European, Israeli, and Chinese centers.

Introduction: Surgical correction of frontoethmoidal meningoencephalocele, although rare, is still challenging to neurosurgeons and plastic reconstructive surgeons. It is fundamental to establish reliable and safe surgical techniques. The twenty-first century has brought great advances in medical technology, and the 3D models can mimic the correct tridimensional anatomical relation of a tissue organ or body part.

Aim: To determine which IIRC scheme was used by retinoblastoma centers worldwide and the percentage of D eyes treated primarily with enucleation versus globe salvaging therapies as well as to correlate trends in treatment choice to IIRC version used and geographic region.
Methods: An anonymized electronic survey was offered to 115 physicians at 39 retinoblastoma centers worldwide asking about IIRC classification schemes and treatment patterns used between 2008 and 2012. Participants were asked to record which version of the IIRC was used for classification, how many group D eyes were diagnosed, and how many eyes were treated with enucleation versus globe salvaging therapies.

The dissociation between the processing of verbs and nouns has been debated in light of the Embodied Cognition Theory (EC). The objective of this paper is to verify how action and verb processing deficits of PD patients are modulated by different tasks with different cognitive demands. Action and object lexical-semantic processing was evaluated in patients with Parkinson's Disease (PD) and cognitively healthy controls through three different tasks (verbal fluency, naming and semantic association).

The eyebrow incision associated with medial supraorbital craniotomy is a minimally invasive alternative approach to the lesions located in the medial anterior cranial fossa. The main advantages of the medial supraorbital craniotomy regarding frontolateral supraorbital craniotomy are the absence of manipulation of the temporal muscle, less risk of injury to the frontotemporal branch of the facial nerve and a more medial view of the anterior structures such as frontal sinus, olfatory groove and frontal lobe. We report a unique case of cranial stab wound in which a piece of the knife stayed in the frontal sinus and removal was performed using the medial supraorbital approach.

Crystallized intelligence refers to one's knowledge base and can be measured by vocabulary tests. Fluid intelligence is related to nonverbal aspects of intelligence, depends very little on previously acquired knowledge, and can be measured by tests such as Block Design (BD) and Raven Colored Matrices (RCM). Premorbid intelligence quotient (IQ) refers to one's intellectual ability level previous to the onset of disorders like mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and Alzheimer's disease (AD) and it is important to estimate disease severity.

The management of adolescents and young adults with brain tumors, which consist of many different histologic subtypes, continues to be a challenge. Better outcome with a decrease of the side effects of the disease and therapy and improvement of quality of life has been demonstrated in recent decades for some tumors. Significant differences in survival and cure are also observed between adult and pediatric tumors of the same histologic grade.

Adolescents and young adults with cancer are a distinct subgroup of patients within oncology. From the onset of symptoms until the completion of therapy and beyond, they face physical, psychological, and social challenges that are significantly different from those of adults and children. Survival rates and quality of life outcomes for this population have not improved to the same extent that have for younger and older patients.
