Objectives: To determine the degree of risk factor control, the clinical symptoms and the therapeutic management of patients with a history of previous myocardial infarction.

Methods: Cross-sectional study at 6 years of a first episode of acute myocardial infarction between 2000 and 2009, admitted at a hospital in the region of Extremadura (Spain). Of 2177 patients with this diagnosis, 1365 remained alive and therefore were included in the study.

Background: There is a conflictive position if some foods and Mediterranean diet (MedDiet) consumed by the mother during pregnancy and by the child during the first years of life can be protective for current wheezing, rhinitis and dermatitis at preschool age.

Methods: Questionnaires of epidemiological factors and food intake by the mother during pregnancy and later by the child were filled in by parents in two surveys at two different time points (1.5 yrs and 4 yrs of life) in 1000 preschoolers.

Single fraction volumetric modulated arc radiosurgery of brain metastases.

Purpose: To show the clinical results of the treatment of brain metastases via radiosurgery using Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT).

Materials And Methods: 52 patients having lung (62 %), breast (17 %), colorectal (8 %) and other cancers (13 %) with one to three brain metastases were treated with 5 non-coplanar VMAT arcs. The treatment dose varied from 12 to 20 Gy, administered in one single session.

We report the case of a 26-year-old asymptomatic woman, who presented for consultation after the detection of a cardiac murmur in a medical routine recognition. Doppler echocardiography and the 64-row multidetector computed tomography showed the presence of a significant enlargement of the right coronary artery winding in the contour of the right ventricle and its fistulosa connection to the coronary sinus. Although the coronary fistula in our patient had a considerable size, there was no ventricular dilation, and thus we chose, according to the desire of the patient, not to intervene, and to evaluate her regularly.
