Introduction: Several predictive scores to evaluate outcomes of adrenal surgery for unilateral primary aldosteronism (UPA), have been conceived. We compared a novel trifecta that summarizes outcomes of adrenal surgery for UPA with the clinical cure proposed by Vorselaars.
Material And Methods: Between March 2011 and January 2022, a multi-institutional dataset was queried for UPA.

Background: To evaluate the ability of therapeutic intensity score (TIS) in predicting the clinical outcomes of partial (PA) and total adrenalectomy (TA) for UPA.
Methods: Between 2011 and 2022, a four-center adrenalectomy dataset was queried for "unilateral adrenal mass" and "UPA" (n = 90). Preoperative TIS of each antihypertensive medication were individually calculated and merged to create a single, cumulative variable.

Background: Benign Prostatic Obstruction (BPO) is the most common non-malignant urological condition among men and its incidence rise with age. Among prostate treatments, GreenLight laser seems to reduce bleeding and would be safer in the aging population.
Aims: We aimed to compare the functional outcomes and safety profile of < 75 years old (Group A) and ≥ 75 years old (Group B) patients.

Background: Acute kidney injury (AKI) is highly prevalent in critical COVID-19 patients. The diagnosis and staging of AKI are based on serum creatinine (sCr) and urinary output criteria, with limitations in the functional markers. New cell-cycle arrest biomarkers [TIMP2]*[IGFBP7] have been proposed for early detection of AKI, but their role in critically ill COVID-19 patients is poorly understood.

Several studies have investigated the role of inflammation in promoting tumorigenesis and cancer progression. Neoplastic as well as surrounding stromal and inflammatory cells engage in well-orchestrated reciprocal interactions to establish an inflammatory tumor microenvironment. The tumor-associated inflammatory tissue is highly plastic, capable of continuously modifying its phenotypic and functional characteristics.

Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) or endotoxin, the major cell wall component of Gram-negative bacteria, plays a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of sepsis. It is able to activate the host defense system through interaction with Toll-like receptor 4, thus triggering pro-inflammatory mechanisms. A large amount of LPS induces inappropriate activation of the immune system, triggering an exaggerated inflammatory response and consequent extensive organ injury, providing the basis of sepsis damage.

Extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) has been purposed for the management of chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS) with encouraging results. Phytotherapeutic compounds have been used in everyday clinical practice for patients with CP/CPSS due to their anti-inflammatory properties. The present study aimed to investigate the effects of ESWT in association with the use of bromelain and escin extracts in patients with CP/CPSS.

Objective: To systematically review the measurement properties of outcome instruments used in large-vessel vasculitis (LVV).
Methods: MEDLINE, Embase, Cochrane, and Scopus databases were searched for studies published from inception to July 14, 2020, that addressed measurement properties of instruments used in giant cell arteritis (GCA) and Takayasu arteritis (TA). The measurement properties of the instruments identified were collected following the Outcome Measures in Rheumatology (OMERACT) and Consensus-Based Standards for the Selection of Health Measurement Instruments (COSMIN) frameworks.

ANCA-associated vasculitides (AAV) are a group of rare, primary, systemic necrotizing small-vessel vasculitides. Granulomatosis with polyangiitis and microscopic polyangiitis account for ∼80-90% of all AAV. Exposure to silica dust, farming and chronic nasal Staphylococcus aureus carriage are associated with increased risk of developing AAV.

International guidelines suggest to use testosterone therapy (TTh) in hypogonadal men presenting symptoms of testosterone deficiency (TD), even if there is no fixed threshold level of T at which TTh should be started. We aimed to develop and validate a nomogram named TRACE (Testosterone ReplACEment) for predicting the need of TTh in patients with "low-normal" total testosterone levels. The following nomogram variables were used: serum T level; serum LH level; BMI; state of nocturnal erections; metabolic comorbidities; and IPSS total score.

Background: Penile prosthesis implantation has been associated with overall good functional outcomes. Of relevance, some patients reported higher level of satisfaction and quality of life.
Aim: We investigated the profile of the patients who may benefit the most from penile prosthesis implantation.

We reviewed the studies examining whether quitting smoking at or around diagnosis favourably affects the prognosis of bladder cancer (BC) patients, who are often active smokers at diagnosis. We found only nine eligible articles published until 31 January 2022, which encompassed around 5500 BC in total, the majority of which were nonmuscle invasive BC (only one paper included muscle-invasive BC). We used random effects meta-analysis to obtain a summary hazard ratio (SHR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI).

Background: Several trials have reported on the impact of social restrictions due to SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) pandemic on sexual function and psycho-physical well-being. However, data showing modifications of these outcomes over time and at the end of lock-down are scant.
Aim: We investigated the longitudinal changes in sexual function during social restrictions for COVID-19 pandemic in Italy.

Microbiota is defined as the group of commensal microorganisms that inhabit a specific human body site. The composition of each individual's gastrointestinal microbiota is influenced by several factors such as age, diet, lifestyle, and drug intake, but an increasing number of studies have shown that the differences between a healthy microbiota and a dysbiotic one can be related to different diseases such as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and erectile dysfunction (ED). The aim of this review is to give an overview of the role of the gut microbiota on BPH and ED.

A eutectic mixture of prilocaine/lidocaine spray (Fortacin™, Recordati, Milan, Italy) has been approved for the management of patients affected by life-long premature ejaculation (PE), but to date, there is a lack of dose- or time-finding studies in the literature that indicate the best method of intake to optimize treatment outcomes. In this multicentre, randomized, two-phase study, we aimed to compare, in terms of treatment effectiveness (primary objective) and safety (secondary objective), different treatment regimens (various doses and times of drug delivery) of Fortacin™ in 91 patients affected with lifelong PE who were recruited at four different centres and randomized (1:1:1 ratio) into three different groups. The study included two phases: during the first phase (focused on time-finding), the same drug dose (three sprays) was taken at different intervals before intercourse (5, 15, 30 min).

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are prevalent worldwide, particularly among women. Their incidence increases with age, and treatment is increasingly challenging owing to antibiotic resistance and the lack of new agents. We investigated the susceptibility of current urinary isolates to fosfomycin and other antibiotics across Europe.

Background: Hypertension (HTN) is a global public health issue. There are limited data regarding the effects of HTN in patients undergoing partial nephrectomy (PN) for renal tumors. To address this void, we tested the association between HTN and renal function after minimally invasive PN (MIPN).
