Robot-assisted arm training (RAAT) has demonstrated promising potential in improving rehabilitation outcomes for individuals with neurological conditions, particularly stroke. Despite 20 years of their use in clinical and research settings, there are still significant needs to be made concerning clinical indications. In the present perspective manuscript, we provide some hypotheses of the suitability of different RAAT according to the features of the available devices and clinical characteristics, showing their limitations and strengths.

Background And Aim: Lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) is a leading cause of low back pain and lower limbs pain often associated with functional impairment which entails the loss or the impairment of independence in older adults. Conservative treatment is effective in a small percentage of patients, while a significant percentage undergo surgery, even if often without a complete resolution of clinical symptoms and motor deficits. Brain network analysis can offer useful information to guide the rehabilitation of post-stroke patients. We applied functional network connection models based on multiplex-multilayer network analysis (MMN) to explore functional network connectivity changes induced by robot-aided gait training (RAGT) using the Ekso, a wearable exoskeleton, and compared it to conventional overground gait training (COGT) in chronic stroke patients. We extracted the coreness of individual nodes at multiple locations in the brain from EEG recordings obtained before and after gait training in a resting state.

When treating patients with a disorder of consciousness (DOC), it is essential to obtain an accurate diagnosis as soon as possible to generate individualized treatment programs. However, accurately diagnosing patients with DOCs is challenging and prone to errors when differentiating patients in a Vegetative State/Unresponsive Wakefulness Syndrome (VS/UWS) from those in a Minimally Conscious State (MCS). Upwards of ~40% of patients with a DOC can be misdiagnosed when specifically designed behavioral scales are not employed or improperly administered.

Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) can relieve motor symptoms related to psychogenic movement disorders (PMDs), but the subtending neurophysiological basis is unclear. We report on a 50-year-old woman with a diagnosis of psychogenic myoclonus in the right lower limb, who was treated with a daily session (in the late morning/early afternoon) of 1 Hz rTMS over the left premotor cortex (PMC), five times a week for 6 weeks. Purpose: To evaluate the feasibility and initial functional and anatomical outcomes of transplanting a full-thickness free graft of choroid and retinal pigment epithelium (RPE), along with neurosensory retina in advanced fibrosis and atrophy associated with end-stage exudative age-related macular degeneration with and without a concurrent refractory macular hole.

Methods: During vitrectomy, an RPE-choroidal and neurosensory retinal free graft was harvested in nine eyes of nine patients. The RPE-choroidal and neurosensory retinal free graft was either placed subretinally (n = 5), intraretinally to cover the foveal area inside an iatrogenically induced macular hole over the RPE-choroidal graft (n = 3) or preretinally (n = 1) without a retinotomy wherein both free grafts were placed over the concurrent macular hole.
