Article Synopsis
  • The study examined the Eustachian Tube Dysfunction Questionnaire 7 (ETDQ-7) to assess eustachian tube dysfunction (ETD) in patients with septal deviation undergoing septoplasty.
  • It found that although there was no notable difference in preoperative ETDQ-7 scores between the convex and concave sides, the prevalence of ETD was significantly higher on the convex side, especially in cases of unilateral ETD.
  • Postoperative results indicated that those with positive ETD showed significant improvement in ETDQ-7 scores, particularly on the convex side, demonstrating that septoplasty effectively alleviates ETD regardless of the side affected.

Background: Myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease (MOGAD) is an inflammatory disease affecting the central nervous system that may require long-term immunotherapy in relapsing cases. While immunotherapies utilized in neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder have shown varying efficacy in MOGAD, intravenous immunoglobulin G (IVIG) recently emerged as a promising treatment. Tocilizumab, a monoclonal antibody that targets the interleukin-6 (IL-6) receptor, has been reported to be effective in refractory MOGAD in several case studies, where tocilizumab was introduced primarily due to rituximab failure.
