Double J stents are commonplace tools used in modern urology, serving as a vital aid in the drainage of the upper urinary system. Along with the numerous advantages of these catheters, numerous negative consequences have also been addressed throughout time. Among the most common symptoms associated with ureteral catheters are those associated with LUTS (lower urinary tract symptoms), such as dysuria, urinary urgency, pollakiuria, the feeling of incomplete emptying of the bladder, urinary incontinence, or even urinary tract infections (UTIs).

This case report elucidates the clinical and surgical journey of a 62-year-old patient with a history of multiple comorbidities including a severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS‑CoV‑2) infection, presenting with temporospatial disorientation, bradypsychia, and bradyphasia, without motor deficits, diagnosed with sarcomatous meningioma and skull lysis. Amidst the complexities of managing primary brain tumors, this report underscores the significance of thorough morphopathological examination, while considering patient demographics and tumor localization in assessing the nature of the neoplasm. It highlights meningiomas as predominantly benign yet stemming from monoclonal proliferation, with their occurrence influenced by genetic predispositions and environmental factors such as ionizing radiation exposure.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is one of the most common gastrointestinal disorders in the world. Two parameters, mean nocturnal baseline impedance (MNBI) and post-reflux swallow-induced peristaltic wave index (PSPW), have been recently proposed to help differentiate GERD phenotypes. Our study aimed to assess whether there is any correlation between the two parameters, while also taking a look at their ability to distinguish between GERD phenotypes.

Renal stones are a common pathology in daily practice with a continuously increasing incidence. Using flexible ureteroscopy (fURS), urologists can treat difficult renal stones through the natural orifice and maintain a satisfactory stone-free rate. Even though advancing technologies offer the opportunity for minimally invasive surgery, the surgeon is still exposed to a considerable amount of ionizing radiation during several procedures.

Cases of digestive cancers diagnosed during pregnancy are rare. The increasing prevalence of pregnancy in women aged 30-39 years (and not exceptionally 40-49 years) could explain the frequent co-occurrence of cancers and pregnancy. The diagnosis of digestive cancers in pregnancy is difficult due to the overlap between neoplasm symptomatology and the clinical picture of pregnancy.

This article provides a comprehensive review of the role of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) in characterizing neural plasticity in glioblastoma patients. Glioblastoma, the most common primary brain tumor, has a rapid growth rate and infiltrative nature that leads to the disorganization of the normal brain network. Neuroplasticity, still not fully understood, is the foundation for the development of brain functions during the growth and recovery of certain brain functions after a brain lesion such as a tumor, trauma, or vascular event.

The introduction of single-use flexible ureteroscopes (suFURSs) in daily practice tends to overcome the main limitations of reusable ureteroscopes (reFURSs), in terms of high acquisition costs, maintenance, breakages and repairing costs, reprocessing and sterilization, as retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) is promoted as first-line treatment of renal stones in most cases. A hybrid strategy implies having both instruments in the armamentarium of endourology and choosing the best strategy for cost-efficiency and protecting expensive reusable instruments in selected high-risk for breakage cases such as large stones of the inferior calyx, a steep infundibulopelvic angle or narrow infundibulum, or abnormal anatomy as in horseshoe and ectopic kidney. In terms of safety and efficiency, data present suFURSs as a safe alternative considering operating time, stone-free, and complication rates.
