Objective: Ampullary neoplastic lesions can be resected by endoscopic papillectomy (EP) or transduodenal surgical ampullectomy (TSA) while pancreaticoduodenectomy is reserved for more advanced lesions. We present the largest retrospective comparative study analysing EP and TSA.
Design: Of all patients in the database, lesions with prior interventions, benign histology advanced malignancy (T2 and more), patients with hereditary syndromes and those undergoing pancreatoduodenectomy were excluded.

Background And Aims: Esophageal stricture (ES) is a severe adverse event following wide-field endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) of superficial esophageal carcinoma. This study evaluated the efficacy and safety of combining endoscopic vacuum therapy (EVT) and budesonide orodispersible tablet (BOT) in preventing post-ESD strictures.
Methods: This prospective case series included patients with superficial esophageal squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma who had wide-field ESD (≥75% circumference, resection length ≥50 mm).

The first therapeutical goal followed by neurooncological surgeons dealing with prefrontal gliomas is attempting supramarginal tumor resection preserving relevant neurological function. Therefore, advanced knowledge of the frontal aslant tract (FAT) functional neuroanatomy in high-order cognitive domains beyond language and speech processing would help refine neurosurgeries, predicting possible relevant cognitive adverse events and maximizing the surgical efficacy. To this aim we performed the recently developed correlational tractography analyses to evaluate the possible relationship between FAT's microstructural properties and cognitive functions in 27 healthy subjects having ultra-high-field (7-Tesla) diffusion MRI.

Purpose: There is a lack of evidence for treatment of some conditions including complication management, suboptimal initial weight loss, recurrent weight gain, or worsening of a significant obesity complication after one anastomosis gastric bypass (OAGB). This study was designed to respond to the existing lack of agreement and to provide a valuable resource for clinicians by employing an expert-modified Delphi consensus method.
Methods: Forty-eight recognized bariatric surgeons from 28 countries participated in the modified Delphi consensus to vote on 64 statements in two rounds.

Background: The classical supraorbital minicraniotomy (cSOM) constitutes a minimally invasive alternative for the resection of anterior skull base meningiomas (ASBM). Surgical success depends strongly on optimal patient selection and surgery planning, for which a careful assessment of tumor characteristics, approach trajectory, and bony anterior skull base anatomy is required. Still, morphometrical studies searching for relevant anatomical factors with surgical relevance when intending a cSOM for ASBM resection are lacking.

Background: The evaluation of electronic patient-reported outcomes (ePROs) is increasingly being used in clinical studies of patients with cancer and enables structured and standardized data collection in patients' everyday lives. So far, few studies or analyses have focused on the medical benefit of ePROs for patients.
Objective: The current exploratory analysis aimed to obtain an initial indication of whether the use of the Consilium Care app (recently renamed medidux; mobile Health AG) for structured and regular self-assessment of side effects by ePROs had a recognizable effect on incidences of unplanned consultations and hospitalizations of patients with cancer compared to a control group in a real-world care setting without app use.

Objective: Whether the day of the week on which the child presents affects timely diagnosis and risk of diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) in children with new-onset type 1 diabetes (T1D) is not known.
Research Design And Methods: We used data of 30,717 children with new-onset T1D during the last 10 years from the German Prospective Diabetes Registry. We determined the odds ratios of T1D diagnosis and DKA on a weekday, public holiday, and school vacation.

Background And Aims: Ampullary lesions (ALs) of the minor duodenal papilla are extremely rare. Endoscopic papillectomy (EP) is a routinely used treatment for AL of the major duodenal papilla, but the role of EP for minor AL has not been accurately studied.
Methods: We identified 20 patients with ALs of minor duodenal papilla in the multicentric database from the Endoscopic Papillectomy vs Surgical Ampullectomy vs Pancreatitcoduodenectomy for Ampullary Neoplasm study, which included 1422 EPs.

Objective: With more than 1.5 million performed procedures, liposuction was the second most performed esthetic surgical procedure all over the world in males and in females in the year 2020. The objective of this open-label, evaluator-blinded study was to assess the efficacy and safety of an energy-based device that combines multipolar radiofrequency with pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) in patients that underwent liposuction.

Background And Aims: Spotty calcium deposits (SCD) represent a vulnerable plaque feature which seems to result - as based on recent invitro studies - from inflammatory vessel-wall interactions. SCD can be reliably assessed by optical coherence tomography (OCT). Their prognostic impact is yet unknown.

Background: Delayed bleeding is the most frequent complication after endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) and endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) of large colon polyps. Today, prophylactic clipping with through-the-scope clips (TTSCs) is commonly used to reduce the risk of bleeding. However, the over-the-scope clip (OTSC) system might be superior to TTSCs in achieving hemostasis.

Introduction: Ampullary neuroendocrine neoplasia (NEN) is rare and evidence regarding their management is scarce. This study aimed to describe clinicopathological features, management, and prognosis of ampullary NEN according to their endoscopic or surgical management.
Methods: From a multi-institutional international database, patients treated with either endoscopic papillectomy (EP), transduodenal surgical ampullectomy (TSA), or pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) for ampullary NEN were included.

Background: In the context of the coronavirus pandemic, countless face-to-face events as well as medical trainings were cancelled or moved to online courses, which resulted in increased digitalization in many areas. In the context of medical education, videos provide tremendous benefit for visualizing skills before they are practised.
Methods: Based on a previous investigation of video material addressing epidural catheterization available on the YouTube platform, we aimed to investigate new content produced in the context of the pandemic.

Background: The advantages and limitations of different craniotomy positions and approach trajectories to the gasserian ganglion (GG) and related structures using an anterior subtemporal approach have not been studied systematically. Knowledge of these features is of importance when planning keyhole anterior subtemporal (kAST) approaches to the GG to optimize access and minimize risks.
Methods: Eight formalin-fixed heads were used bilaterally to assess temporal lobe retraction (TLR), trigeminal exposure, and relevant anatomical aspects of extra- and transdural classic anterior subtemporal (CLAST) approaches compared with slightly dorsally and ventrally allocated corridors.
